Okay, I posted this earlier but it got misidentified as spam and deleted. But you should name it the Notch Less Monster *.

Also, I think it might be cool if it were a friendly mob rather than hostile. The first friendly boss?

posted a message on Nephes' Top 12 Minecraft Wish List

So I recently responded to a "What did you always want to see in Minecraft?" post, and posted several of my best ideas over the last decade of Minecraft evolution. The response I got was so enthusiastic that people demanded I formally suggest these ideas to Mojang. Amazingly, in looking back over my ideas, many of them have come to be integrated into the game in various ways. For instance, one early suggestion I made back in 2010, before redstone engineering really took off, was for Mojang to introduce some "large assemble-able devices into the game" which would facilitate "other useful devices such as a mass item refinery" for players to construct that would give our buildings a purpose (at the time, everyone's builds were almost exclusively aesthetic with no real functionality), and facilitate a second industrial civilization sort of phase to the gameplay. (Side note: Oh my God, I just realized, did I predict industrial redstone engineering back in October 2010? :o ) Anyway, what I've gathered here are twelve of my best ideas, mostly suggestions for content, a couple being fixes to existing shortcomings, in no particular order. Thanks to everyone who encouraged me to formally suggest these ideas to Mojang. :)

    .

    1. Slimes spawning in rainstorms. This would encourage slime hunting as a fun event activity, and make rainstorms more interesting.

    2. Colored slime blocks which do not stick to other color slime blocks. (Lifted this suggestion from Mumbo Jumbo.)

    3. Artificial diamonds with less durable properties created by compressing packed coal. (Would need diamond inspecting device to verify diamond purity.)

    4. Komodo dragons, and other desert lifeforms, to populate mesas.

    5. Precious ores that only generate up inside mountains, rather than deep below ground.

    6. Being able to write and draw on maps. (Come on, Mojang, this is a no-brainer.)

    7. Shields held lower on screen when not in defensive position. (They just needlessly obstruct our view right now.)

    8. Axes given more weapon properties to make them into a viable alternative to the sword.

    9. Velociraptors which hunt you in pairs, one distracting you by while another stalks you from high grass. Should also steal eggs and rotten flesh.

    10. Clay golem (another prediction?) which turns into a terracotta statue during the day and drops clay or terracotta depending on which form it's in.

    11. Biannual obsidian meteorite crash containing immensely rare alien ores and metals. (Maybe a Nether-star-like item?)

    12. Lode stones (aka, magnets), which move like falling anvil / sand / gravel toward a magnetic field, attracting or repelling iron.

    .

Hope you guys like these suggestions, it would be a dream if Mojang took the time to implement some of these (I did after all apparently predict industrial redstone engineering, so in my defense I think my ideas have been rather vindicated in hindsight). Would also like to add this honorable mention: PLEASE replace the dispenser / dropper sound effect from that maddening rage inducing clicking sound, this would be so incredibly easy to fix, that click sound has been driving us all crazy for years, I can't believe Mojang hasn't fixed this yet. Anyway, would love to hear all your thoughts on these ideas. What are your top twelve suggestions for Minecraft?

posted a message on 🌋 Ede 🌋 Who wants to start a fresh new server? 🏜

Welcome to Ede! A new vanilla survival world in search of some talented builders. Take a look at the gallery below.

Contrary to what my new profile would have you believe, I’ve been playing Minecraft since way back in Alpha. Despite having several well developed worlds, I decided recently to wipe the slate clean and completely start over, fresh, and to open up my single player world to other players. And so I've started Ede, a new world centered around a continent upon which I've staked my ambitions, upon which I've been planning to develop a sort of collaborative civilization with some fun, likeminded builders, ala Hermitcraft, with a cooperative economy, co-developed market districts with personal storefronts, industrial districts, whole cities, interconnected across the continent with intelligently planned road / railway / travel systems, and any other cool builds that might come to mind.

Quick tour: This is a map of Ede, developed off a seed I've been using for years because of how absolutely excellent and pleasingly laid out the islands and landscapes are, with my personal favorite biomes clumped together, savannas and mesas. The large island on the east, just barely cut off the map, is the spawn island (open to ideas for a name, I've been calling it the Isle of Thymes). The mesa to the west I've been calling the Madlands (where I've been considering building some sort of secret government facility style builds, machines, farms, etc.). The map marker in the center of Ede, at the south eastern edge of the Madlands, is Mt. Booji, where I've built my base, Mt. Booji Estate. The marker on the very south west shore of Ede is my fishing hut, which is stocked with barrels upon barrels of fish and other AFK fishing supplies, which I've been considering building a sort of wooden themed fishing town around. There are a number of very cool features around this continent, which anyone who joins the server is welcome to claim: A nicely contained large-ish green island off the eastern coast of Ede, a rather excellent savanna mountain on the eastern coast Ede just west of that island, another mountain in south western Ede with a nice lake at the base with rivers running out to the ocean, a smattering of ice archipelagos south east of Ede, and plenty of towns and other cool stuff scattered across the continent.

I'm open to any cool ideas, but my thinking so far is this: The rules of the server will be rather minimal, and the server will rely on good natured cooperation, and fun trustworthy players. Overt griefing or stealing will be prohibited, though I may designate a location on the world where this could be acceptable. I will choose players to join based on their easygoing and friendly personalities, the aesthetic quality of their builds and / or what kind of cool redstone contraptions they like to develop. So any players who specialize in really beautiful looking builds, or really ingenious and inventive redstone, will be most likely to be welcomed to the server. The economy will be based on the honor system, I'd like for us to establish a market district, prices of goods can be named with an anvil onto items in your personal stores and players will leave diamond payments in place of the items they buy, much like the system on the Hermitcraft server. On the continent of Ede, I'm hoping to keep the building as elegantly coordinated we can, so if you're within sight of another build I'd try to communicate and coordinate ideas with the builder so as to compliment their work. Outside of the continent of Ede, the rules will be much more wild west, and unregulated. On the Isle of Thymes, I was thinking it might be cool to have a complete no-rules hodgepodge city, where anyone can build anything anywhere, can modify any other buildings on the island, and see what kind of madness might result.

Without further adieu, let me show you what I've built thus far.

This is Mt. Booji Estate, built atop the famous Mt. Booji in the heartland of Ede, where a mountain savanna meets a mesa and a desert. As you can see, I use the Conquest texture pack (which after years of playing Minecraft I still consider to be the best texture pack available). Though you may use whatever texture pack you like, I would encourage players to use Conquest for consistency sake, as my build is designed around this pack, and doesn't look quite as cool in any other pack. I'm really quite pleased with the ultra modern Greek-ish design, and the layout, which is a first for me. In the basement you can see, under the floor, I have built a nether themed crevice holding a crop of nether wart, and by my furnaces I have an automatic bamboo fuel harvester which automatically fills my furnaces with fuel.

Elsewhere on Ede, along the western shore, is my Fishin' Hut, which is a naturally generated shipwreck that I converted into my first base (from this base I completed the entire game, killing the Ender Dragon before I ever started Mt. Booji Estate). I was so amused by this modified / improvised build, I kind of ran with the idea and decked it out with overgrown ivy, and placed a mess of barrels strewn about the area, packed to the brim with fish and other resources from the AFK fishing farm inside. Deep in the basement of this fishin' hut, not pictured, is a bunch of double chests hooked up to hoppers with a drainage system which shoots unwanted items into lava for disposal, as well as an enchantment room packed with about fifteen double chests each completely full of enchanted books from innumerable nights left AFK. I'm considering taking these enchanted books and fish supplies and opening up a store called Delish' Fish.

Elsewhere on Ede, deep underground, in an undisclosed location, I am in the process of building my largest installation yet, the Ede Industrial Complex, which is a complex of facilities holding resource generating machines, farms, and a central storage system called the Yield Index, where all resources generated from all the farms will be funneled through these item streams behind the glass in the walls and floors. The Yield Index currently holds 360 double chests, which will be hooked up to automatic item sorters, and probably expanded downward further into the ground toward bedrock. I currently have running a sugar cane farm, a cactus / xp farm, a general mob farm, and an iron farm. From these, I have accumulated so far seven or so double chests each of gunpowder, bone, sugar cane, string, iron and other items. The next farm on my list will be a slime farm. This complex will help give Ede the infrastructure to develop some truly massive and impressive builds and redstone machinery.

And finally, here is the humble town at spawn on the Isle of Thymes, nestled under a quaint little micro-mountain. I have yet to do much of anything with the spawn zone, and am open to ideas, but as I mentioned earlier, I've been thinking about turning the entire island into a no-regulation, anything goes build zone, where players are welcome to build anything anywhere, modify other builds, and collaborate into a mad hodgepodge of random creation.

Thank you all for taking a look! I hope to hear your thoughts, and I hope any of you great architectural / redstone builders out there will post some examples of your builds and shoot me a DM letting me know what ideas you might have and what makes you interested in joining Ede. I hope for this server to be a really fun and collaborative endeavor, and I really look forward to building a community with some fun peops, building a trade district, an economy, secret government facilities, crazy redstone machinery, etc. After any of you join the server, I hope you will come back to this thread periodically and showcase your work, discuss future ideas, and even record some videos of your builds and server hijinks. Thanks again for taking a look, hope to hear from you. :)
