Well, aswering to the topic: Yes it is in development, and you are probably already using it.
We have Resource Packs and Shaders that is the proof that it is in development. Also, if you work with command Blocks, you can notice some hints of it like minecraft.stone (that's an example, and yes, i know that that is not precise).
If you don't understand redstone, learn or don't use it;
If you don't like the updates, don't update;
If you don't like X, someone likes, that's is a fact of life;
There's not even so much redstone changes lately, most are commands, bugfixes and so on...
For people that hate 1.3+ updates: There's a Version Changer Option in the Launcher.

So, about the mod itself, i'm curently working on ores creation/generation.

Feed The Beast Knowledge 1-10: 7, because there is some new mods that i never played, like Railcraft
Interest and Hobbies:Gaming, Couple, LEGO (who do not like lego?), coding, and of course TV.
Time able to play a week: @ days, 3/4 hours day (end of scholar year, you know, evaluations) will be increased to something like: 7 hours/day, 5 days/week
Since what update of you played?:I started with 1.7.3, but there is in time around 1.2.4
Why do you want to play?: for a lot of reasons, first Mindcrack people, second The FTB add a LOT of stuff, and I'll like to play with the knowlege ou buildcraft, forestry and IC². third: BUILD A LOT OF ULTIMATE Contructions

I have decided to make a mod, so, I start one. The Ender Edge Mod.
This mod make you able to craft a "Ultimate Sword" called Ender Edge.
It slays everting in a single hit, and will break any block you want.
Features Already added:
- The blade it self;
- The instant Mob, except Ender Dragon, Slimes and Magma Cubes (because they multiply) and Endermans;
- A Crafting recipe:
(plese note, that sword is a diamond sword) - Magma Ender Edge, have mode durability, but less damage. Put Enemies on Fire.
- Magma Ender Edge Crafting Recipe:

Features to be added:E= Ender edge F=Fire Charge M=Magma Cream B=Blaze Powder
This recipe is Shapeless
- Endermans will ignore you when you are using this blade;
- Take damage for each mod you slay (except Enderdragon);
- Take damage while taking contact with water (like rain and rivers);
- A best Crafting Recipe
- Take 19 points of damage when slay a Enderman;
- Abilty to brake all the blocks (including obsidian);
- Better textures;
- And more to be added...
