    1. You can go into Thaumcraft's config file and increase the weight of magical forest biomes by a large amount. This will make them much more likely to generate.

    2. I don't think tainted biomes can be encountered naturally. At least I've never seen one. Creating an artificial one isn't very difficult, however. Throw a bunch of junk such as dirt and stone into a boiling crucible and you'll have a tainted biome within minutes.

    Pure nodes get weaker as they remove Flux from the surrounding area. Once they reach zero vis, they'll vanish entirely.

    Tainted Shards are produced when crystal clusters of the normal primal aspects are in a chunk with a high level of vitium in the aura. After a seemingly random amount of time and the level of vitium remaining consistently high, the primal crystal clusters will turn into a purple, tainted crystal cluster which you can then mine for tainted shards.

    Is it still possible to turn normal shards into tainted shards in the Nether?


    I've got three shards planted, but no matter how long I wait or how much flux I dump into the aura, they aren't changing.


    EDIT: Nevermind. Turns out it was due to me trying to convert shards that didn't have any vis of their aspect in the aura.

    Messing around with Flux in the Nether and I've noticed a few things.


    1. Flux lightning will occur above the bedrock layer while flux rain doesn't seem to occur at all. Taint will spread on the Bedrock, but will not be able to go under it. This makes Taint unable to reach your location. One could possibility set up a base in the Nether and use their stuff with high flux production there.


    2. Bedrock can be turned into Tainted Rock which can be broken. This may be a problem.

    Just checked the entry on Void Jars. Essentia put into void jars when they are full is now vented as flux. Can't say I'm fond of this. It makes them too hazardous to use.


    You're better off using the proposed alternate method of putting any excess essentia into phials and throwing them into lava.

    Something capable of destroying nodes could be a decent concept.


    My idea for such a thing would be:


    A peaceable device that requires potentia and perditio essentia to function. When a node is close enough, the device will pull the node in and start draining vis from it. The device will convert the vis into auram essentia and pump it into a empty/aurum jar if there is one connected to it at a ratio of one point of aurum for every four points of vis from the node. Once all the vis is drained, the node vanishes. If there isn't a jar capable of accepting auram connected to it, the auram will be dumped into the aura itself as flux.


    However, destroying a node in such a quick manner is equivalent to punching a hole through the local aura. The process will produce enough flux to be just below the threshold of flux related events occurring once it finishes and trying to abort it mid-drain could be disastrous.

    You're saying a hungry node is producing flux? As far as I know, all they do is drain vis from the aura. I haven't noticed any flux effects occur where a hungry node is located.


    It may actually be a tainted node. Tainted nodes will constantly produce flux and dump it into the aura. At quite an alarming rate as well.

    Yeah, I just tried it myself. The Arcane Spa won't accept Water Buckets.


    I am also finding that Purifying Bath Salts can't added to water by hand either.

    Pure nodes are capable of removing flux. A pure node can appear inside a Silverwood once it grows into a full tree so it's possible to create pure nodes yourself using Silverwood saplings and a Hoe of Growth.


    However, the chance of a pure node appearing is rather low.

    Grow fast? Do you mean hatch faster?


    There is no way to speed up egg hatching. Closet thing you can do is use commands to change the stage from "Egg" to any of the other stages.


    Or do you mean having your dragon grow into an adult faster?


    You can't speed that up either. All you can do is use commands to make the dragon instantly jump to the "Adult" stage.

    Ghost: Classified as an undead mob. As such the effect of harming and healing potions used on it are inverted. It's also immune to damage from the Wither effect. It doesn't burn in sunlight, thankfully.

    Ice: Leaves a trail of snow behind it.
