I seem to have got it working, I tore it down and build it level by level making sure it worked. I added 2 ticks extra b/w each level. Still laggy server doesn't help all that much. Are there any other elevator designs that are better?

I'm trying to get this to work, first in creative, then in smp... I looked around the forums for a day or two and nothing came up so I figured I'd make this topic.

I'm trying to make this elevator...

But since the newest pre-release, pistons have an extra .5 ticks before they fire, or so I've been made to understand. I've got the whole thing built but the timing is off as I keep getting pushed off the elevator...

I tried adding another tick delay between each piston layer, which seemed to work for a moment, but I'm still getting pushed off after a few levels. I'm not the best at redstone, any advice? Maybe there is a better elevator design somewhere?

Hmm, yea this is what I have going on: walls are 3 thick entrance is 3 high, three wide, with fence/gate/fence as entry way. I get pigs and chickens in the hallways... They get pushed up into corners by other mobs and bounce back and forth. When I had y outside animal farm, they would sometimes appear on the roof even though it was 6-7 blocks above them...

Has anyone figured out an animal farm design, interior or not, that reduces the 'glitchy-ness' of the animal behavior. I'm talking about how they glitch through walls, up walls, into walls and push each other over fences.

    What designs do you use?

Correct. 'Tis a very old bug though.

Hmmm, well then forgive me for my mistake. It's never happened to me until today, so I thought I'd share it...

When you ride a boat onto half blocks from water, you die from "falling too far."

    Quote from jjjdragons

    Hello

In 1.9PR3 what kind of chickens spawn from thrown eggs--adults or babies? My server hasn't upgraded yet, but I want to build a contraption to process eggs. If babies come out of eggs, I' ll need to add a holding tank ( to give them time to mature) before sending them to the grinder.

    Thanks!

I've been throwing chicken eggs since I started my world at pre3 release. So far no chickens. :/

Having only one chicken spawn within a day walking distance was kind of a drag.

posted a message on Intermediate Mobs
My belief is that current mobs could be made harder with little work. Zombies for instance could spawn in groups of three and walk around with each other. Skeletons could also spawn with swords and again spawn with bow skeletons in multiples (maybe one bow and one sword skeleton, more skeletons increasing the difficulty). This would make blocking relevant and challenge you.

I also think creepers should go away, forever. IMO in games there is a large difference between difficult cheap and difficult challenging. Games that make you think that you messed up when you die are difficult challenging, in Minecraft I think it's cheap when a creeper drops down behind you and blows you up, as you have very little reaction time and often no warning. I heard sprinting might work but I have yet to try that.

That being said, maybe we can buff/nerf creepers at the same time. Going with my spawning in multiples idea, you could shrink creepers down to half size, spawn them in a group of 3-5, make them one/two hit kills ( and shrink their explosions accordingly ) and add a quarter second to their explosion timer.

But that's just my two cents.

posted a message on Fatal flaw with new fence posts!
Working your way through a cave you stumble across an abandoned mineshaft. Thinking of the glory and riches that lay ahead you trudge on. Finding deposit after deposit of rich minerals you are elated as ahead you see a spider spawner thinking that once it's secure you'll have an endless supply of experience points (and spider eye's for whatever they're worth). Carefully crafting a chest you place all your valuables into it so as not to risk them in the coming battle. Finally ready with sword in hand you start to hack away at the webs blocking the way when the first wave of baddies come at you. Easily ducking behind a fence post you laugh at the spiders' sub par intelligence as they try to climb their way through to you, chopping away at their legs you laugh and move on.

Getting closer the next wave comes at you, this time though there is only one. The spider climbs the ledge that separates you and the room where the spawner sits surrounded by it's bounty of chests. You miss swing and the spider hits you, you're thrown back into the wall behind you, determined you continue the fight. The spider presses forward getting a second hit, now you're feeling the effects of the spiders poison as you lurch sideways wincing in pain. The second hit threw you back again and attempting to regain composure you start to swing at the spider, a sure hit. It doesn't connect though, you can't seem to tell why. As you continue to swing you are astonished that wood particles are flying off into the air as if you were.... destroying a fence! The fence that made the first fight so easy, is now blocking you from behind. The spider makes quick work of you since you are unable to fight back, and then you're back in your bed wondering if it was all just a bad dream.

    ------

Really though, this was quite a shock. Getting thrown into the 'box' of the fence post, now that we can walk through them. Then having that box interfere with fighting seems like a simple oversight. I'm glad for the fence post fix, as it makes walking through mine shafts easier, just thought I'd share my story and hope for a fix.

Speaking of breading sheep.... I think if you breed two of the same color sheep together you should get an offspring the same color.

It seems if you keep the same seed with a "space" in front of it in 1.9 pre you get an island in the middle of an ocean, serious lack of trees though.
