posted a message on how many diamonds did you get on your best exploration?
In 1 cave system, I spent about 5 hours exploring before I gave up, it was just that big. I had been mining for an hour when I came across it. My total haul of diamond during that run was somewhere around 150.

Started this about 3 in game days ago on Hard difficulty. It's a pretty decent challenge even though I found a shallow natural cave to shelter me. Finding enough food to keep my population alive is beginning to take a toll and I'm going to have to have a good day of pig hunting once the sun rises again or I'll never advance at a decent time D:

The last time I played Age 1, I had didn't find any pigs on the third day. I spent the third night, fourth day, and fourth night hunting before I got enough pork... it's definitely a challenge hunting weaponless at night on hard. I like that portion of Age 1, the uncertainty of being able to feed your little group and survive.

I never visit Hack Forums or any suspisious sites. never gonna know !, if you not telling.
What class file, have it any name, or something that may infect any class-file ?
Is it possible to be aware about, im gonna install Aether again, miss that,
and make a TMI modded extra minecraft.jar, like to fill some chests sometimes.
only mod is Aether, TMI only on time to fill chests, after that i take back the orginal jar, or Aether modded jar.
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I try to quote a thread just now in Survival Mode forum, but i get a message "no premission to read..".
I try many times, that's why i have it in my copy text memory.

Little worried. i try to find the tread again name was [Warning] Mods, gone now.

    Edit; not too worried,
i just installed Aether (my second time) and prepaired a jar with TMI too,
i have try that mods before No problem then no problem now.

hmmm.... it would certainly boost the security of minecraft users but it seems like there could be many holes in such a plan, eg the time it would take for your application to be processed, how skilled are the people checking this stuff, is the submitted content secure from plagiarism?
These would be the new concerns replacing the 1/50000 chance that you do indeed click a virus ridden download.
Imo the system is fine, it doesn't need to be tampered with, if something looks dodgy, don't download it.

The only delay would be around updates, it would be mostly for new, unknown mods, but would also be good for anyone to have. I'm decent enough that I could make the checks, but I would definitely appreciate help from a few more experienced coders.

I'm putting this out there as an idea for discussion, and as a question, as I don't know how often this has occurred. I know there have been security incidents related to mods, and was wondering if there would be interest in a mod-security-verification process. Basically, every modder would be able to submit their mod to be hosted on our website. We would manually verify every download and mod to ensure there is no malicious content or coding, and post the download location, which modders could use in their posts. This would remove any possibility of someone changing a download file that has been safe, or passing off a hack-mod as a new mod.

What do you think? I know if someone did post a mod like this it would be taken care of pretty quickly, but do you think the community would benefit from the added peace of mind?

    Quote from Deadalready

Personally when I need cobble I dig out tunnels using tnt, incredibly fast and entertaining. I would disagree with the others greatly about tnt being ineffective or less efficient a mining method. My judge is speed and when you can cover larger areas of space, finding MORE resources is easy.

The trick however is that you need to learn how to use tnt intelligently. Most people slap a stack of tnt on the spot and light only to be left with an ugly crater, of course this method will destroy resources, placing them one at a time and learning how to dig and plug up certain structural points will net you time and resources that easily outclasses ordinary mining.

For reference my tnt mining nets me around 40 diamonds an hour, try doing that with any other method.

My current average for underground cave spelunking is 35 diamonds/hour, and I only have to use a small amount of coal and wood for torches. Do explode out 40 diamonds per hour you have to demolish(without destroying) about 33,000 stone per hour. If you blow a 3x3x3 hole in stone, and all that survives, plus the new exposed stone... that would take about 300-400 tnt per hour...

posted a message on Is Diamond Even worth it?
Arguing about the limit of resources in a map is pointless. I don't have the exact number anymore, but in a 1000x1000 meter area there are something like 50,000-80,000 iron... in practical terms, it's limitless.

Oh my bad, I always use stone tools.

Ok, lol... Why though? Yeah, you save on iron compared to using an iron pickaxe, slightly, but you lose out on everything else. If you use diamond, you end up with more of every ore than if you use stone.

Also I never use stone tools. Sometimes I dont even use Iron tools. I normally make an iron pickaxe and keep it for mining gold, redstone and diamonds. I never use diamonds, I always horde them. I'm patient enough to use stone tools, and stone swords and iron swords both kill in 3 hits so theres not point making iron swords in SSP.
Anyway I like to use my iron for crafting (and hording - I loves me some stashes of stuff)

Sorry, you never use stone tools, or you use stone tools? I'm guessing a typo in there somewhere.

Using a stone pickaxe means you will end up with slightly more iron in a given time period as compared to using an iron pickaxe, but you will have less of everything else. Using a stone pickaxe compared to a diamond pickaxe means you end up with less of *everything*... so even though you 'conserve' by using stone, you don't end up with as much net product in the end.

posted a message on Is Diamond Even worth it?
    Quote from Badprenup

Ok, I have been doing some calculations off the wiki and I have come to the conclusion that besides the rare need for Obsidian or the Jukebox, Diamond is utterly worthless. Here are the stats of Diamond compared to Iron:

    Diamond
Commonly found in: Layer 18 and lower (.09% chance)
Number of Uses for a Diamond tool: 1562

    Iron
Commonly found in: Layer 63 and lower (.55% chance)
Number of Uses for a Iron tool: 251

Seeing how there is 4608 (18*16*16) blocks at layer 18 and lower (not including the bedrock, which is usually about 4 layers thick) That gives you about 4 diamond (4608*.09%) per chunk.

For Iron to be more useful, you need to find at least 6.22 (1562/251) times as much Iron as you do Diamond, but because you can't find 6.22 besides on a large scale let's say 7 times as much.

There is 16128 (63*16*16) blocks from layer 63 down (still not counting bedrock). That gives you about 88 (16128*.55%) Iron per chunk. That is 22 TIMES as much. So you can make 3 Diamond Tools worth of Iron tools in a single chunk, and still have one ingot left over.

Diamond mining is just overhyped when you think about it. That being said, Stone is even MORE useful than Iron, but you can't get anything higher than Iron with Stone so you need Iron a bit more.

There's one large problem with your calculations. You are calculating the total ore of each type in each chunk, but who mines out entire chunks?

The proper way to look at it is in relation to number of ore found for number of blocks mined. Like you said, iron is something like 6 times more common than diamond, and diamond lasts something like 6 times longer than iron. If you are mining in the diamond layers(and why wouldn't you? Same amount of iron coal and gold, but you get more redstone, diamond, and lapis), then there is the same amount of diamond as iron, in relation to the usefulness of the tools.

Considering how much faster diamond is for working than iron, I see no reason not to use it.
