posted a message on Intermediary - Run Minecraft 1.2.5 mods in 1.7.10!

Hello FyberOptic. I was lucky to hear of this project over on /vg/. There's a 1.2.5 mod that I've wanted to get updated for about a month now. TobaccoCraft, which was a really well done mod by the user EmptyCans, was discontinued back in 2014. A lot of people liked the mod, but EmptyCans fell off the face of the Minecraft Forums right when he proposed to update the mod from 1.2.5 . Since it's a Forge mod, and Forge 1.2.5 is no longer available, the mod is unplayable. While some people might disagree with the subject matter of the mod, it's still one of the best crop based mods I've seen to date, and a lot of people were impressed by it. If it could be added to the Intermediary mod list, and made playable in 1.7.10, that would be amazing.

Its my friends home town, and we always wanted a replica of it to play Hunger Games or PVP or whatnot.

We tried doing it a couple times but never succeeded. It would be cool if you could do a little part of it!

    Thanks! (:

All right then. I'll get on that and give you the upload link in an IM.

I need a well-though out post with references for a request. Just saying the name of a place isn't enough. At least a couple of well-thought out paragraphs expressing why you want it, what you want, and a picture of where it is. I could spend quite a while making a map for no one otherwise.

I'll be making maps based on the Earth's topography. As long as it's located on this map, I can make it (no Finland for example). I'll have any map uploaded within a week, that's my guarantee, at no cost to yourself (aside from the investment of time and input). I will send the map through mediafire/dropbox.

If you receive a map, the least I ask of you is to give me feedback on the sense of scale, as that's the most difficult to get perfect. Although feedback and criticism in general is well appreciated.

Examples just to display range would be maps of Manhattan, Arabia, China and the Americas. Continental maps are awful and dull because all of the features are so marginalised and a properly scaled continent is unplayable. I'll only do City or Country sized regions. If you want me to be precise with particular features provide me with reference maps for what you want. Aside from that, it's pretty straight forward.

Here I am again! What I think: It's an extraordinary server. The adjective that will fit most would be: realistic. The map is an exact copy from Greece, it's so hard to get resources such as iron or construction blocks. The different factions are the state-cities that did exist on that time, so I like it SO MUCH.The single problem is the lack of players!!! If this server could gain an active comunity it would be epic. So I just encourage everyone who wants to join the sv.Here I leave the IP: 169.249.170.31:25577PD: Another point is the Dynamap! Have a look: http://169.249.170.31:8123/#

Oh, I didn't post the IP. :P Yeah, it's a bit of a shame the server isn't active. A lot of people would like it.

The Stone and Steel Europe Server is set in Bronze Age Greece (3000~1000 BCE). This isn't a clan, but a nation-based civilisation-crafting server. Currently the server is dormant, but it's looking for a revival. After the War of Laconic Aggression on Mycenae and Ak'Gora, there has been an acute depopulation of the server, which is a shame, because it's a very, very, well-done server. It is entirely true to its theme, and everything is done as it should be. There are no TPs, everything is gained, and in a world with no supernatural monsters, strangers and nature are the most hostile forces. I can't sum up, in as many paragraphs as I may decide to type up, how amazing this server is, but I'm hoping it can regain activity. The structures of the first generation of players lay in ruin, and there is a tabula rasa ripe for a new generation. If you're into history, military, economics, architecture, et cetera, feel free to join, there is no white-list; but remember, Role Play is central, and we're currently in the very vague and formative days of Western Civilisation.

Media (videos and the like), would also be appreciated.

Here's the current site of Argos. I'm still looking for plenty of more members.

I've carved in the road plan, and the streets will be gravel.

Very laggy :( I hope you fix this because I like medieval(ish) themed servers

I don't personally get any lag what so ever, and I've been playing a lot. I think what you mean is that you can't place blocks directly beneath you, and there are a few other pseudo-gravity type mechanics that can stop the placement of blocks that may seem like lag. I don't own the server, I'm just another player, although the server owner does actively seek out input and criticism, so if there are any issues I, or anyone else, can bring it up to him. Also, it's not Medieval themed. It's the Bronze Age. about 4000 years before the Medieval Era, but I know what you mean. Civilisation servers are a lot of fun.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's not lag. Even when the server got maximums of 40 people I didn't experience any server-side lag. I'm pretty sure it's the mechanics. If you place a block directly beneath you, or place a block whilst you're in the air, the block immediately disappears. Those are just the game mechanics.

If you want to establish an economy of some kind, it will be an uphill climb, but entirely possible, and the server plans to get there eventually. It's called Stone and Steel Europe, and it's a civilisation server, currently in the Bronze Age (Greece is only available, although Egypt is supposed to come next). You can join The Polity of Argolis, my city-state. You could be a merchant, since nearby Sparta has already indicated it wants to establish trade links with us.

I was looking for a video or two to post here to give historical context. I found this straightforward and accessible series of lectures that work quite well. It's a bit slow, and it's intended for this teacher's students, but if you don't know much about Ancient Greece, I'd recommend you watch the first one.

As for Skins, I would prefer you use an "ancient Greek" skin. Here's a bit of a template you can work off of if you want to make a custom skin.

This will be our Hoplite skin for military purposes, but since we won't need a military for a while now, it's a bit irrelevant. It is an offense to be in Hoplite regalia unless you are a Hoplite.
