    Quote from mg127

well ... you can't realy make the existing to get work on spout, more like you have to remake it for spout since these are two complete different APIs

I appreciate your enthusiasm regarding Spout. I actually just tried it out because of your post.

However, something tells me that if I can't figure out how to get the mod to work using the handy dandy tutorial I linked in the OP, and given that I stated that the mod is indeed not mine, meaning I didn't have a hand in making it, then the chance of me being able to rewrite it entirely for a new API is pretty close to zero.

    I am asking politely,

Please would someone provide me with Step by Step info on how to convert the mod, or provide me directly with a converted mod and installation instructions?

Please don't reply with a comment that is little more than an advertisement for something that doesn't help me.

    forget about modloader mp
    use spout :biggrin.gif:

Ok, that being said, it doesn't really address my problem.

Can you provide instructions on how to make the mod work using Spout?

posted a message on Request: Help Converting Mod from SSP to SMP
I was attempting to take a mod and convert it from SSP to SMP for use on my LAN only server. I looked up all the fun stuff I would need to do it:

    ModLoader
    ModLoadMp
    MCP
    The mod* itself.

I then had my quick reference sheet on how to do the conversion.

And then... I just stared confoundedly at the screen.

I have no idea what I'm doing as far as MCP is concerned. In Step 1 it states:

Recompile to check everything compiles nicely. If not, please contact me for help.
Note : The client will not be able to connect to the server unless there is a multiplayer mod installed. So just check it compiles at the moment.

When and what did I decompile?

Step 2 talks about "notch" classes?

Anyway... I think you get my point.

So I am requesting that if someone could either provide "MCP for Dummies" steps, or if you are feeling quite generous, converting the mod for me and letting me know what I need to install it.

*I do not own this mod, nor do I have permission to distribute it. Upon the completion of this post I have sent a PM to the creator and will if so requested remove this request unless they provide me with permission to convert or receive a converted copy of their mod.

Mineshafts were much more common in 1.8. They were literally everywhere, and their frequency was toned down for 1.0.0.

I don't know if they were toned down. I still find them pretty much everywhere I go. As stated before by someone else, I don't build rails, I just mine them all.

I find this interesting as I am on 1.0.0 and was hunting chickens outside a village we discovered on our server and moments after I killed the chicken another spawned. It too was dispatched and a few moments later, still another spawned.

I thought it unusual to actually see them spawn, but they did.

posted a message on New Detector Rail Type
I would love to have a detector rail that would know the difference between an empty/storage/powered minecart, and an occupied cart.

The reason being that sometimes I want to send items at intersections different places than where the player is heading. The short term solution is to use unbelievably long redstone circuits attached to switches.

But imagine how much easier it would be if there was an actual detector that knew if a cart was occupied by a person or not...

    Quote from whiteb0yred

I have everything above done. 25565 isn't blocked, and I i set my firewall to allow it.

If I can't connect with my own external ip, that makes sense. Hopefully it works then. so I should just type in localhost (my computer can handle it) and they have to use the external ip, right? I wanna make sure I'm doing this right haha. :Sheep:

If you are on a network you must set a port forward on the router to tell it which computer to send the connection request to or it will ignore it.

Simply opening the port will not work.

    Example:

Three computers are on my network. A, B, and C
    Server is running on B
A server request comes in on my external I.P. address.
The Router has no idea what to do with it and ignores it, no connection.

Set a port forward to computer B's internal (i.e. 192.168.*.*) I.P. address in the router setup and it will tell the router which computer to forward the server request to.

    Example:

Three computers are on my network. A, B, and C
    Server is running on B
A server request comes in on my external I.P. address.
The Router recognizes the port and uses the forward to send it to Computer B running the server, connection!

I see a lot of people promise to upload a map and never do, so I figured I'd share mine.

The name of the world is Hiatus and it's on a secure internal LAN. Sorry we do not accept outside players.

As you see Minetographer did an awesome job.

This is really a great program.

One special note: North is still indicated in the wrong direction. North was changed sometime ago in game to show the sun rising in the EAST of an in game map. The generated maps all need to be rotated 90 degrees counter clockwise.

posted a message on [old] [omitted] MC Server hosting
    Quote from Nick131

My problem is that my brother is already running my IP so I'm forced to use Hamachi, but lemme give you a little advice.

Okay, if you NEED to, use Hamachi. Most of the time, it's better to use your real IP address to make a public server. Although, it does have it's negatives. Using this type of server hosting makes your computer a very easy target. Hamachi, however, counters that effect because it gives a fake IP and a port. Now, something that your IP has and Hamachi can't do, is that people need to JOIN your hamachi and they have to be op in order to do anything. With IP, you can let any one join, and let any one break blocks without oping them. So, what I'm saying is, I recommend Hamachi for hosting servers for people that you know, and IP for people you don't know.

You can run multiple servers under the same I.P. address using different ports. If port forwarding is enabled. Example:

Machine A is running Server 1 on Port 25
Machine B is running Server 2 on Port 50

I connect on port 25, I get routed to Machine A
I connect on port 50, I get routed to Machine B

The I.P. address just tells my computer where on the Internet to connect to, the port, under port forwarding; which computer to connect to.

posted a message on Finding the Right Server I.P. Address
Any I.P. address that starts with 192.168.*.* is internal and specific to your Local Area Network (LAN) and is not accessible by the Internet or Wide Area Network (WAN).

To find your external I.P. Address you can visit:

    http://www.whatismyip.com/

The large number at the top is the address that you give to players.

    A word of note:

Most private individuals have dynamic I.P. addresses, meaning that they will change based on how they are distributed by your internet provider. There are two ways to handle dynamic I.P. addresses.

    1. Contact everyone on your server every time the I.P. address changes with the new I.P. address.
    2. Use a free host such as http://www.no-ip.com/ to provide you with a server address that automatically updates regardless of your I.P. address.

I have used both of the above resources and have never had to pay a fee or cost, nor have I had any issues regarding connectivity.

    I hope this helps.

    posted a message on Unplayable
    Quote from Cromlathe

The game was playable on my laptop in 1.7.3 - I got around 30 fps.

And then 1.8 was released and it was just completely unplayable. No FPS - instead it was SPF; seconds per frame. Usually about 8 seconds per frame.

1.0 is an improvement over 1.8, but it is worse than 1.7.3 was. It plays fine initially, but as soon as you discover a few chunks, the performance goes way downhill. And yes, this is with everything in the video options reduced to minimal. View distance is tiny, particles is minimal, etc. 1.0 is not really playable on my laptop, whereas 1.7.3 is.

If you have a newer computer then sure, you aren't having issues with performance. But that's not saying much. You see, Minecraft is a game that would perform incredibly well if the code was decently optimized or if it was written in an actual gaming language like C++

It just doesn't have to be this bad.

    Not to sound rude.

You're not really giving us much to go on.

Start with Computer Specs, Operating System, Java Environment, Video Card.

Next look at your environment. Hard drive space. Services Running.

All of these can affect performance.

    Quote from omersarigedik

    Confirm!
I'm using Bukkit and i have the the same problem... But when i changed to my old (classic minecraft server) server, there is no problem! blazes are giving XP like all the devils in nether!

So this is a bukkit problem.
We should post this to a "Bukkit server bugs" topic or something...

If you use the latest stable build, this has been fixed. I have been using it, though my server is lightly modded, without issue.

Same here... I've collected lots of XP from a blaze spawner with killing them. But now blazes are not dropping any XP. It's just started today. Any ideas, suggestions or is this just a bug?

    Thanks.

We noticed the same thing with the Nether zombies. They didn't drop any exp bubbles.

Are you the owner? If not, the owner may have the End disabled on the server options. (Is there an option for that?)

I am the Server Admin and the only option is for the Nether which is enabled.
