I would call Minecraft, Lego's Bane.
It's what they wanted their game to be.

No one seems to be taking in account that Mojang, before Microsoft, was strictly a game development company. They did not have personnel who could look at the existing code and see potential security risks.
Post Microsoft, they have the people who can look at the code overall and see a lot of those serious risks that may have been overlooked. Also keep in mind that Microsoft is a target for malware and virus creators. As one of the top "evil" computer corporations, it's not unheard that sometimes people will intentionally try to exploit any security risk they find.
Personally I think the safety of my computer system and network outweighs adding in a few new items here or there.

I appreciate your enthusiasm regarding Spout. I actually just tried it out because of your post.
However, something tells me that if I can't figure out how to get the mod to work using the handy dandy tutorial I linked in the OP, and given that I stated that the mod is indeed not mine, meaning I didn't have a hand in making it, then the chance of me being able to rewrite it entirely for a new API is pretty close to zero.
I am asking politely,
Please would someone provide me with Step by Step info on how to convert the mod, or provide me directly with a converted mod and installation instructions?
Please don't reply with a comment that is little more than an advertisement for something that doesn't help me.

Ok, that being said, it doesn't really address my problem.
Can you provide instructions on how to make the mod work using Spout?

ModLoader
ModLoadMp
MCP
The mod* itself.
I then had my quick reference sheet on how to do the conversion.
And then... I just stared confoundedly at the screen.
I have no idea what I'm doing as far as MCP is concerned. In Step 1 it states:
When and what did I decompile?
Step 2 talks about "notch" classes?
Anyway... I think you get my point.
So I am requesting that if someone could either provide "MCP for Dummies" steps, or if you are feeling quite generous, converting the mod for me and letting me know what I need to install it.
*I do not own this mod, nor do I have permission to distribute it. Upon the completion of this post I have sent a PM to the creator and will if so requested remove this request unless they provide me with permission to convert or receive a converted copy of their mod.

I don't know if they were toned down. I still find them pretty much everywhere I go. As stated before by someone else, I don't build rails, I just mine them all.

I thought it unusual to actually see them spawn, but they did.

The reason being that sometimes I want to send items at intersections different places than where the player is heading. The short term solution is to use unbelievably long redstone circuits attached to switches.
But imagine how much easier it would be if there was an actual detector that knew if a cart was occupied by a person or not...

If you are on a network you must set a port forward on the router to tell it which computer to send the connection request to or it will ignore it.
Simply opening the port will not work.
Example:
Three computers are on my network. A, B, and C
Server is running on B
A server request comes in on my external I.P. address.
The Router has no idea what to do with it and ignores it, no connection.
Set a port forward to computer B's internal (i.e. 192.168.*.*) I.P. address in the router setup and it will tell the router which computer to forward the server request to.
Example:
Three computers are on my network. A, B, and C
Server is running on B
A server request comes in on my external I.P. address.
The Router recognizes the port and uses the forward to send it to Computer B running the server, connection!

The name of the world is Hiatus and it's on a secure internal LAN. Sorry we do not accept outside players.
As you see Minetographer did an awesome job.

One special note: North is still indicated in the wrong direction. North was changed sometime ago in game to show the sun rising in the EAST of an in game map. The generated maps all need to be rotated 90 degrees counter clockwise.

You can run multiple servers under the same I.P. address using different ports. If port forwarding is enabled. Example:
Machine A is running Server 1 on Port 25
Machine B is running Server 2 on Port 50
I connect on port 25, I get routed to Machine A
I connect on port 50, I get routed to Machine B
The I.P. address just tells my computer where on the Internet to connect to, the port, under port forwarding; which computer to connect to.

To find your external I.P. Address you can visit:
http://www.whatismyip.com/
The large number at the top is the address that you give to players.
A word of note:
Most private individuals have dynamic I.P. addresses, meaning that they will change based on how they are distributed by your internet provider. There are two ways to handle dynamic I.P. addresses.
I have used both of the above resources and have never had to pay a fee or cost, nor have I had any issues regarding connectivity.
I hope this helps.

Not to sound rude.
You're not really giving us much to go on.
Start with Computer Specs, Operating System, Java Environment, Video Card.
Next look at your environment. Hard drive space. Services Running.
All of these can affect performance.

If you use the latest stable build, this has been fixed. I have been using it, though my server is lightly modded, without issue.

We noticed the same thing with the Nether zombies. They didn't drop any exp bubbles.

I am the Server Admin and the only option is for the Nether which is enabled.
