Creepers have a very long range, so you have to move pretty far back to prevent them from exploding. Easiest way to avoid it is to sprint attack them so they get knocked back farther.
Decided to find a stronghold so that I could harvest bookshelves from it. Ended up using all of my enderpearls finding it because they kept breaking on the first use. After that I decided to go hunt for more enderpearls. Ended up not getting any but I did get 2 music disks, would have been 3 but a skeleton missed a creeper that was only two blocks in front of him... After that I went diamond mining, found no diamonds at all but I did find 9 emeralds...
Oh, really? I thought this bug only made the "dark, shadowy spots" darker visually. I didn't know it changed the light level of the block! Are you totally sure the mobs didn't spawn in that block simply because it was dark enough?
If you go and stand in one of the dark spots and open f3 you can see that it's light level 0.
Actually, if I remember correctly, this bug started when they changed the lighting system, and they never fixed it. It may be annoying, but, ey, it is just a visual glitch, and does not affect the gameplay at all, so... meh, I would preffer them to fix more important things before working in this.
Actually I've had mobs spawn on the surface during the middle of the day in the lighting bugs before.
I haven't lost a world to any bugs yet, the worst that has happened is my world didn't save around an hour worth of work after my computer crashed once. You should keep backups of your safe that way if anything happens you don't lose to much.
I would like to post a screenshot to you to see guys....... this forum is so strange... BUT No, is not just a little spot on the floor, what is strange is that i walk around the "persistent shadow" area, or move the view, then it disapear.... I would like to solve the problem you know, not just put a torch and remove.... I want to know if do you have the same problems guys, to know this is a game bug or a thing with me......
It's mess a lot with the game, cause you se the shadow and think, a cave, then you go there and is just a wall to face off.....

Found another thing that you should fix. You said to use a lava bucket against zombie pigmen. Zombie pigmen are immune to fire damage, it won't do anything to them.
Personally I wouldn't want to remove any blocks. All of them can have a use for making good looking structures. If I had to remove a block though I guess I would pick sponge, because it's not in survival mode anyways.

After it had turned night it was to dark for me to see anything at all and I didn't feel like sitting around waiting for it to become day.
