What is your IGN (in-game name)? mrvalley1

Why do you want to join the server? the past 2 servers i joined never seemed to have anyone on. this one has so many people they have to rotate players :biggrin.gif:

    Have you voted? yes

Have you ever been banned before? If so, then why? no, but i was warned for using an x-ray tex pack for finding out how large a lava pocket i found was (lost all of the money i had earned during the month i played on the server, but i did get some of it back).

posted a message on Automatic Mushroom Farm!
before i start, i just wan to make it clear that this design uses pistons, which will not be released until 1.7. for this, i used the piston mod that was included in the minecraft NOW modpak. also, please note that this is only what i used as a test of concept, there is much that can be improved and expanded on.

first, hollow out a 2x10x9 room. then, dig out 4 1x9 trenches on the floor. the room should look similar to this, but without the odd bumps in the wall:

next, dig up one block directly above each of the trenches. Put red stone torches here to prevent mobs from spawning inside the farm.

now, place a water block at the beginning of each trench, on the side where the trench does not touch the wall. place a piston such that when extended, it will block the water flow, but when retracted, the water will flow freely. then, place red stone along the ridge behind the trenches, and connect it to all of the pistons. it should look something like this:

now, place a lever so that it connects to the redstone and can activate it. flip it on and off, to make sure it can reach the pistons.

finally, it's time to add the mushrooms. place them on the raised part of the trenches, so they they will not be damaged by the water.

the funnel, which will collect the mushrooms to one spot, will be placed at the end of the trenches that touches the wall, the side that the water flows toward. dig out an 8x1 trench, beginning one block away from the wall. place a water block at one end, and then dig out a room at the other for you to stand and collect the shrooms. now just place a lever in the room, and connect it to the pistons, and you are ready to start harvesting.

to answer most of the questions you probably have, like 'what are the items you are holding in slots 1, 2, and 3?' and 'why do you have 20 hearts?', i currently have the minecraft NOW mod installed, which is a collection of all the best mods made yet. it came with the painterly texture pack.

posted a message on Map extension
how about this: there are 2 kinds of maps, center maps, and regular maps. center maps will always show the spawn point. regular maps are used to expand on center maps. a regular map can only be connected to one center map at a time. so, where:
    :Turquoise: is regular map
    :cobblestone: is center map
and :RedShroom: is an empty space, then

    :Turquoise: :Turquoise: :Turquoise:
    :Turquoise: :cobblestone: :Turquoise:
    :Turquoise: :Turquoise: :Turquoise:
will create a 3x3 map with the spawn point in the center.

    this:
    :Turquoise: :cobblestone: :Turquoise:
    :Turquoise: :Turquoise: :Turquoise:
    :Turquoise: :RedShroom: :Turquoise:
    :RedShroom: :Turquoise: :RedShroom:
    :Turquoise: :cobblestone: :Turquoise:

will be 2 maps. you wont be able to place maps such that a regular map is referenced by 2 centermaps. in the above example, you would have to first delete one of the center maps to be able to connect the 2 maps.

... and if the kids in question are 7 and 8 years old?

then they probably wouldn't know how to install a mod.

the animation isn't static, there are flames moving on it. this would onnly work if the change was rapid, and i doubt the average computer would be able to do that.

    heres what you do:
    1. play minecraft
    2. when you are done, open the minecraft file using %appdata%
    3. go to the saves folder
    4. connect a USB storage device
    5. open a window for it
    6. copy/paste your save file from the computer to the USB
    7. close both windows, and disconnect the USB

    to open it back up:
    1. connect USB
    2. open a wondow for it
    3. open the minecraft saves folder
    4. copy/paste the save file into the folder
    5. start minecraft, and play the file

if you don't have a USB, you can just e-mail it to yourself. if you get a message syaing that there is already a file that that name, then just overwrite it, without making a new file with a different name.

what you mean by '15 saves on 15 computers' is that you have 14 old saves and 1 new save. the old saves don't matter, they're old. all you care about or actually need is the one new save. you ONLY need to make a back-up of the most recent save. why would you need to back-up all 15 saves when only one of them is the one you are actually using?

    posted a message on Puppies?
i think that adding a 10% chance that the female will die when maaking puppies is pretty fair. i've done the math, and you would be able to get about 3-4 breedings on average, which would be 6-8 puppies over a course of about 2-3 MC months. combining the amount of puppies you are getting, the time it takes to get them, and the chance that some you may not even be able to get, i'd say that this is balenced, if not underpowered.

how about canyons (possible already suggested, just off the top of my head)? they would be like a valley, with only stone, and maybe a river running down the center (if notch can get rivers to actually be able to spawn naturally). yes, canyons have a sharp, steep edge on them, but because it is not perfectly vertical, it wouldn't be too hard to mine out a little path along the side of it.

what would be even better is that you can place then on the floor. that was you can put glass over top of it and your floor will be one giant map. walls are hard to expand on, but floors are easy.
