Yeah I was just on, it seems I go from like a solid 60fps, down to 30, then finally like 8-9.

It seems that my system was slowing down as a whole. I was afraid of viruses, so I did a factory reset. I'm no expert, but how likely is it that I some underlying problem with my computer? I haven't tested any other games yet (wiped hard drive, remember :tongue.gif:?) but if they're slower too, should I send it back ? I spent a lot on better warranties, so I assume that it would be free to send it back.

I have a mid range graphics card, yes, but Mine craft is a low end game, and that doesn't call for 1-2fps. Besides, it still doesn't explain why I used to be able to run this game fine, even with HD textures.

I think my drivers are up to date, as I downloaded them earlier. As in earlier today.

Could Norton have something to do with it?

Alright, I get horrible lag on settings (since 1.5, btw) that normally ran fine for me. All the best settings give me 1-2 fps, while the lowest end settings only get me 17-20. Frankly, Minecraft is one of the worst games out there (graphics wise) and I cannot believe that I'm not KILLING this game fps wise. It's a shame that my experience is being totally ruined by this terrible lag.

Is there anything else I can do?

Before anyone tries to tell me to get a new computer:
a) Computers are expensive. Not everyone has spare money/wants to spend it on another computer

Hey there. I seem to have a problem where I'll be doing something in minecraft, when all of a sudden I'll get a HUGE lag spike. I'm talking like 1-3 fps, for no reason at all. I used to get like 70 fps, but now I only get about 20 on average. Help?

My system specs are (laptop): i7 740 processor, 8gb ram, Radeon HD 5730...

No. That would be a mod; people only mod for things that aren't in the game.

You could try those surveys that claim to give out minecraft gift codes. I have a hunch they are all scams though. But hey, it's worth a shot if you're desperate.

Is it "wrong"? Not at all. Morally, there is absolutely no reason as to why it would be bad.

Is it "cheating"? Yes. The game is not meant to have all of the items just given to you. If your play style is about building, and you use that to justify INVedit, that's perfectly okay. You're technically cheating, but it's no big deal.

I too, was a person much like yourself, a time ago. I, just as you did, judged the game, and pondered choosing the golden casket, in choosing to skip minecraft. This game is like the lead casket; it's an ugly monstrosity at first, but if you take the risk, it is well worth the reward. The inside is much better than the exterior. After you get used to the chunkiness, you soon realize the immense depth of the game play. This is a sandbox game with nigh limitless options. Pick and choose what you wish to do. Craft a mighty redstone computer if it suits you, build a giant fortress, or become a dwarf, mining out great halls and hording vast treasures.

Seriously dude, just buy the game and be blown away.
