posted a message on Biome themed houses?
I wanna try to get inspiration for houses to build that fit into the biome they are built in. Kinda like in a snowy biome with a brick cottage and in jungles wooden huts. Any help and tips would be appreciated.

posted a message on How could the strongholds fall, but villages remain?
If they're underground, that does not make them more 'defensible'...
It means they have been there for so long that erosion and whatnot has placed them underground. Think of those ruins and the cities that archaeologists find underground.

    Quote from AndrewBot88

I haven't seen it myself (haven't played since 1.8), but take a look at a real tundra:

Not all covered in snow, is it? It is, as you described, a mix of snow and grass.

You fail to understand what makes games fun. If games were realistic, you would buy MW3, die once, then need to buy another copy to continue playing. Similarly, there are no zombies, skeletons, nor creepers in a 'real tundra'.

What I'm trying to express here is that realism shouldn't be everything; it may not be realistic, but it is more aesthetically pleasing to have an all white Tundra. I for one support the OP in this endeavor.

Once you have bought minecraft, you never have to pay again.

You don't have to, but if you want certain updates, then you have to.

One day a man named Steve appeared. He wasn't born, he was just there. And he did whatever the **** he wanted. Soon, Steve went insane from all the power, killing every human on the planet (He was Steve. Steve does what he pleases), thus creating the vast undead hordes. In a momentary lapse of sanity, he realized the gravity of the situation; he killed ****ing everyone. In a small attempt of repentance, he shoved his trusty stick straight up his ass. He passed out from the pain, and lost all of his memories. When he awoke, he continued doing whatever the **** he wanted. And that, my children, is why you stay the hell away from men named Steve.

posted a message on War game.
The warriors need iron armor ( at least a full set) to even compete with archers. The archers shouldn't get any. Think about how often a zombie can get to you when you just spam arrows at his face. Imagine this in real life; you'll have no warriors, and everyone will rage quit. Archers are just a bad idea, sorry.

Another thing: You need to clarify whether or not blocks can be destroyed. Probably the best thing to do is give builders 64 wood and 10 cobblestone. They should have an axe, and thus can destroy other builder's stuff/loot the wood, but not the cobblestone.

Edit: If you need ideas, here are some.

Medic carries 1 golden apple (for emergencies), X number of pork chops, and is the only one who can grill pork. That means other can eventually heal, but only with raw pork. Possibly also say that when your medic dies, you cannot re spawn until he does (or maybe never). Give him a lengthy timer so if you kill the medic, it ends the stalemate and makes a good opening for you guys to go beserk because you can respawn and they can't.

posted a message on Ways to hide your stuff? (suggestions pls)
Make your base large and magnificent. A castle will do. Then, have secret doors everywhere. Make winding catacombs under your base, and eventually (assuming you know the right path) make a library. Hide a chest behind the shelves using pistons to move it and such. He won't want to destroy the book shelves for fear of knowing that you know that he was there. try to make the button as inconspicuous as possible.

By the way, if he's using an x-ray texture pack, all of your work/clever ideas are useless.

    And another by the way.

    Quote from matt_minouf

    1) Make a secret room using pistons

    2) Use a piston to push out your chest from a hidden location and pull it back

    3) Hide it under your floor (i.e. one block deep in one of your corners)

2 is useless as chests cannot be pushed by pistons. 3 is also bad because griefers usually check floors.

    Quote from pwnzor17

Take it to Paypal and upload the funds into your Paypal account, I hear it works anyway (the upload part, I used Paypal to buy the game, so I can confirm Paypal is usable)

Those gift cards can only be used within the U.S. Notch lives in Sweden. Do the math.

Honestly, I think this one is way better than Jeb's door

I'm sorry but it seems as if this has a fair share of problems that break it in many areas, mainly because the wiring fails to activate all 4, though in the video it works fine.

Can't you all discuss this in a more civil manner?

There's a poll. Vote in it. The question at hand is if you're concerned about an FPS hit. The question is NOT "Are you an elitist ***** that thinks an FPS hit means you own an Apple II or still run Windows 95?"

That being said, please report any flaming from here on out and it will be dealt with accordingly. This is your warning.

Thank you! You are a great moderator!

As a game developer, you simply cannot raise minimum system specs after someone's bought the game. To be honest though, I didn't even believe this game had system specs.

To the people telling OP to get a better computer: No. Some people don't have the money, and that's just fine. Even if some people have the money, they may not be as interested in computers as you are. This is a pretty casual game, with a low amount of difficulty, a low standard of graphics, and low system specs. It simply isn't fair to tell this man (or woman) to simply shut up and buy a new computer. Please, be more mature, and think about how incredibly ignorant of each persons' individual lives you are being when you just say things like that.

To the OP: Yes, this definitively should be a toggle for this. Some people may not be so affected fps wise, but rather they simply hate the mechanic.
