    Ok, lets get something straight: mojang's API will NEVER replace forge. it may help make forge easier to maintain, easier to install, more streamline, etc. but it will never totally replace forge. A smart move on Mojang would have been to partner up with Lex, and use Forge as the API.

    Even though Im not eloraam, i could say without a doubt that this will NEVER happen. (refer to #3) She has a few rules to how she operates...


    1) Mysterious - she never does anything anywhere unless she updates RP2. So no blog posts, etc.
    2) Features - Always releases new features. Never has she just simply "ported" anything over. She always adds new things.
    3) Debugging - eloraam currently maintains the absolute BIGGEST mod in minecraft history. She also does this ON HER OWN. She is a 1 person team. Now this being said, she would NEVER EVER EVER release ANYTHING prematurely until it is COMPLETELY bug free and ready. Now, even though RP2 is a PreRelease, it is ABSOLUTELY BUG FREE!!! I will have to say that this is the most BUG FREE mod that i have EVER played with.



    also, i would have to say that she isnt done with World yet. Im not like 100% sure, but she did say that she would improve gen with Marble, Volcanoes, etc. I cant imagine that she is already done with all of that.

    I have a few suggestions for you, including some that change the aspects of Vanilla Minecraft for the better.

    1) Increase Exploration
    Make some things uncraftable and unobtainable besides actually going out and finding them. For example, create a few rare research notes that you can only get via a custom generated TC temple or ruins or castle. For me, the most interesting aspect of Minecraft is how its completely random. This aspect would certainly be more powerful if there was a reason to explore. So, you can create temples or ruins. Something that always varies, and includes an elaborate way to get to some type of "treasure" in the end. Maybe there could be rooms with special doors that are always locked, until you defeat the creature that spawns in that room. Then when you go on, you could be presented with a different type of challenge, such as a maze. After passing that, you could go on to another type of challenge, and so on and so forth. This could work if in each "castle" the types of challenges are random, as well as their contents. (ie, the mazes are always different, etc. also, the order of which challenge is different.) Finally at the end, you are presented with 4 locked doors and a chest filled with a few things. They should always contain some rare materials (maybe diamonds, etc), and a few types of keys. Keys that would unlock the 4 doors, but only in ANOTHER type of castle, not the current one. (similar to how inside monoliths, there where the doors that you needed keystones for) (This both creates the need to return, and to also find and explore other castles) Also, if you get really lucky, it would contain a rare research note, or something like that. This could only work if the entire castle is made out of a custom block that is indestructible, to prevent people from "breaking out".

    2) Improve combat.
    Minecraft may include foes, but it is ultimately a casual game at best. So, you should try to put all those cool weapons to some good use. Perhaps create randomly spawning bosses that enclose you in indestructible room, and the only way to escape is to defeat him. (and defeating him would also de-spawn the room.) If you loose the battle however, the boss along with the room goes away, taking all of your items with it. When the boss spawns, there should be a chest somewhere that also spawns containing some food and some basic weapons and armor so you can actually have a way to beat him, if you are empty handed. Defeating the boss should give you a nice award.

    3) improve research.
    I REALLY liked your teaser of the way research should work. I was thinking of adding something that Efeudner mentioned. Something in the lines of after you get in the right ingredients, you have to drag the symbols around, and also draw the lines connecting them. Of corse this should be semi random for everyone, so one cant simply "look it up" on the internet. (ie, the lines/symbols should be slightly different for every person) Now, in order for this to not be to hard, maybe as you are playing around with researching you get a random page falling from the Q-desk that you pick up and on that page, it has a hint of how the icons are arranged for another item entirely. This would force you to keep an archive of information so that one day, you could stumble onto another piece of the puzzle and put them both together.

    4) more mystery...
    Similar to how you did the wiki for TC2, there should always be a hint of mystery for everything. For example, you can start by not making a Wiki at all. Or you can choose to make one, but have it extremely limited. I like having to figure things out on your own. I really wish the MinecraftWiki wasnt around when i started playing Minecraft, because i kept looking up recipes that i shouldve figured out on my own. Try to limit how much information can be looked up, such as what i mentioned about research which should be "semi random".

    5) Improve brewing... (This is the one that I'm striving for! Brewing is currently USELESS!!)
    This is something that i found surprisingly lacking in vanilla minecraft. Brewing is somewhat magical, TC3 is about magic. Do with that what you will... Perhaps potions can be extracted from their bottles, and placed into tanks like how it used to work, and then from their tanks they can be pumped out and combined to create new liquids. They can either form new types of potions that can be then bottled up and drunk, or be poured onto mobs or pets to give them surprising new attributes. Or 2 different types of liquids can be poured into a tank made of glass, then a special "fish" type mob can be hatched inside the tanks. They would then swim around in there for a few real life hours until they have "stirred" it enough for it to be pulled out of the tank, into a bottle, then the bottle into another machine that will take the liquid and solidify it into an actual item that you can then take, and throw it into the research desk. (Perhaps this method or something very crazy just like it could be deemed necessary to create the most powerful item in TC3...)


    Ultimately, features that eliminate complete automation should be added. I hope these gave you some good ideas, Azanor :)

    Looking forward to playing TC3 along in my 1.4+ world in a few months!!

    I think this was mentioned, but it seems like Elo has most of the machines working. Based on deductive reasoning, from how forge and mcp work and how I think RP2 is coded, I would say the following:

    -RedPower Core: pretty much done, but still is constantly changing based on how other components evolve.
    -RedPower Wiring: some progress but Elo has stated that she can't get it to work. She is however convinced that it's just a matter of time.
    -RedPower Logic: Very premature, I cannot imagine this working efficiently until Wiring is done.
    -RedPower Lighting: if this is just a direct port, it would be the simplest one to port over. So if she has looked in this one yet, it's probably 100% done. If not, then it shouldn't take he more than a day to port this part.
    -RedPower Machine: seems to me like she is currently working in this part. Most of her progress updates has been about Machines. Basic mechanics are probably done, just working on individual aspects. I suspect that this has the most progress.
    -RedPower World: She is probably done with this, but may plan on improving it before release.
    -RedPower Control: I can't possibly imagine her starting this until everything else is 100% done. So 0% progress on this.


    Again this is just a personal thought.

    As an alternate form of getting blutricity, she should make a nikolite burning generator. You ca put that extra nikolite into some use.

    good news for anyone missing chunkloading: there is a branch on forge gitHub that has a testing implementation of chunkloading. and the newest unreleased build of buildcraft implements it within the quarry. long story short, chunkloading is coming back!!!!


    EDIT: it has been implemented in the main build of forge. cpw commented that its working quite reliably now. :)

    this doesnt happen if i remove mystcraft. it may be an something simple like ID because by default, they use the same ID's, but im sleep deprived so i dont feel like reading through all that log. :)

    dont say things that you are not sure of. i have spoken to plenty of people. and they all say that she is in private beta stage. i dont know if thats accurate or not, but im sure that if she was discontinuing, she would release the source.

    please DO NOT use adblock. it prevents eloraam from making any money from this, and we all know that she really deserves it.
    she has worked really hard on this mod, you should respect that and put up with adfly. also, adfly does NOT give you viruses, as long as you dont click on the ads, like mentioned above.

    alright, so i tried everything, but there is no indication to why on my machine, certain graphical elements wont render. for example, when you put the arcane seals on the wall, its buggy. when you use essence on them, they dont show up around the seal (the seal still works as intended.) when you look at the seal at an angle, it shows up correctly. if i place the seals on the floor, it always renders correctly.




    there are a lot of other bugs too, like when infusing the graphics on top flicker on and off. and this isnt a problem with my graphics card or anything. if i BootCamp Windows 7 on the same machine, everything works as expected. the bugs aren't there. this is only on OS X. now before the windows fanboys come attacking me, i want to say that i dont give a crap about your opinion about macs. and i cant switch minecraft to windows, because on OSX i get around 45 FPS and on windows i get less then 20... so if you can help great, if not, then dont waste my time.
