This is a true story. I was going to check on my mushroom farm when this happened.
I was going to the Nether, fully equiped with a diamond sword and iron armor. I walked into the portal, hearing the hissing of it pierce into my soul. As soon as I went in, I came out into the nether. Almost immedietly, I heard the screaming of, not one, but two Ghasts. I instantly dodge the first one. The second one, coming from behind me, is about to hit me. I quickly swerve around and hit it. Right into my portal. The portal deactivates, and it seems silent. Silent, except of the screaming of the Ghast that trapped me in the Nether. I turn around, once again dodging the fireball. It was a hollow victory; the fireball hit the ground below me, resulting in a deadly fall into lava.
I awake in my bed, stripped of my items. I grab my emergency stone sword out of a chest that I keep in case this happens. I go back to the Nether in hopes that some of my items are still there. I run to where I died, where I hear the same Ghast as before. Trying to spot the Ghast, I turn around to see the fire ball.
The fireball deactivated my portal. Again.
Make a blast shield out of cobblestone around your portal.
Ok i will admit i was wrong about kinect but the the 360 is very restricted im not saying that it is completely impossible to randomly generate but the 360 is incredibly outdated and i think that MC for 360 will just be FC with worse graphics and a few better features but it wont come close the PC version.
Also what platform do you play on?
I own an Xbox but I never play it, because you have to pay for online which is stupid.
Mostly PC here.
BF3 less players smaller maps no server browser (the list goes on for BF3)
BC2 less players no server browser
RUSE less player smaller maps units restriction
and all 3 are graphically inferior because THE CONSOLES ARE WEAK WITH 7 YEAR OLD HARDWARE.
If I actually looked on the internet i could find 100s of games that are better for PC than console those 3 were literary 2 seconds of thought.
also its not that the maker of FC couldn't make randomly generated world its that the 360 hardware was to weak to preform the process to create the randomly generated world. meaning nothing to do with the maker.

And the console was too weak because the maker didn't write his code very well. Notch wouldn't release Minecraft on the Xbox if there were no random maps, that's an integral part of the game. who actually care? the 360 version is going to be trash it will be worse than Fortress Craft(FC), because atleast u can use a controller on FC where as MC is going to be kinect exclusive where you are going to have to jog on the spot to move and the size of the maps will be pretty big, meaning that you will have to be jogging on the spot and who actually wants to do that?
Also look at the limitations of the 360 hardware wish its trash and that's why the games on it are so dumbed down, also the guy who made FC said that the 360 is unable to randomly generate worlds which is why there is only 1 on FC so MC wont be able to generate a world either so its going to be the same world over and over no matter how large it is you will see it all if you play it more than 1 month.

it seems Notch is happier to take a wad of $$ from Microsoft than give PS3 users a game.
I am not anti-360 but Minecraft should be developed for the PS3 and 360 or neither.. its only fair.
but Notch is happy to take the money and say 'stuff you' to PS3 owners.

yes some say its a wise choice as there are more 360 users but think for one moment, what would sell more games? 360 copies or 360 AND PS3 copies? its a no-brainer but Notch took the money.

Microsoft is just going to charge for every update or not release them at all. (TF2, look what happened there).
Notch also went with Sony for the Xperia Play.
At this point I don't even think people understand...
Step 1: Sony offers Notch a deal for Minecraft to be on Android phones, with it's debut on the Xperia Play.
Step 2: To retaliate, Microsoft sends a deal for the Xbox.
Notch accepts both, he doesn't send any offers.

Just wondering if maps update or not?
Like say I explore and uncover a map, but then use some TNT or build a structure drastically changing the landscape, will the changes show on the map?
Will I have to make a new map?
I think Notch said they would not update until you revisit the area.
Not sure if that actually made it into the game.

OT: What makes me mad is that you can't put a ladder on a hatch, so to climb a ladder through a hatch you need to jump directly on top of the ladder, then jump on the hatch, then continue climbing.
Ive been wondering, a couple of my steam friends have been able to play minecraft through steam. How do I do it? If I can get a tutorial or something that would be great.
P.S. Note: I said minecraft THROUGH steam, not minecraft ON steam.

Browse to minecraft.exe in that window that appears and select it, then hit "Add Selected Programs".
That's all you need to do.
