posted a message on What can i expect in a world update from 1.12.2 to 1.15 ?

Hello guys , i have a world that i still play in 1.12.2 and i want soon to update to 1.15

My main problem is the 4 iron farms , guardian farm and gold farm will stop working.

I have been playing this world for very long and i don't want it to be ruined because of an update. I heard some people say that it could not work and crash your world. I have a copy of it on a usb drive just in case.

So any of you guys have some good advice on this update i want to make ?
    Thank you in advance :)

I too have Iron farms (currently playing 1.13) and I know they will cease to function from 1.14 onwards in their current form. I could probabaly live with this considering how much Iron I have now, but two of my farms are combo villager trading halls, and I'm not sure what happens to those villger trades because of the mechanics changes. I have some good ones, and don't want to lose them. I think someone said the old villagers will stay as they are, but can anyone confirm this?

I also have a Guardian Farm, but I don't think they are affected in any way? There is only one way you can build them really.

Gold Farms can be built in the Nether using spawn areas or Overworld using the portal spawn mechanic. I have a couple in the Overworld, but again, I don't think they are affected?

posted a message on I found A pink sheep in mc survival!!!! NOT A PRANK!!! I SWEAR!!!

Once a few years ago in my current world (around ver 1.6 / 1.7) I was creating a temporary portal in the nether to take me to a previously unexplored area in the overworld - I stepped out the portal into a small forest / plains area with jungle biomes surrounding on three sides (what i was after) and standing a few blocks away was a pink sheep, witha second one someway behind it. Further exploration yielded two more within a hundred blocks. Never had anything like that since in 14000+ days in my world...

posted a message on Share your most frustrating death in the nether

I don't really die in the Nether, as, because its the Nether, i'm usually over cautious; I've actually died more times from lava in the overworld than in the Nether, from careless mining or some such. There was a thread not long ago called the "One Tree Survival Challenge" which i played, and i did die in the Nether in that instance (and as per the thread rules, game over). I do rem in my first world (around ver 1.5) being new in the nether and aggravating some pigmen who killed me. However it was on land, so I knew I could respawn and get my gear (enchanted diamond armour and weapon) and it was close to my portal so i knew i'd find it instantly. So i just donned some iron armour i had in a chest and went back. Sure enough my stuff was there but the armour and sword were missing and as I approached i was attacked by some still aggravated pigmen, one of whom had picked up my sword and donned my armour and was thrashing me with it! Before i knew it i was down to a few hearts (as my sword was pretty powerful) but i managed to get a blow in which knocked him back - and over the edge of a small outcrop and out of sight. I forgot myself and ran to see where he had gone, and one of the other pigmen killed me. So returned a second time, managed to retrieve my possessions and the iron armour, killed the remaining piggies, then went to the outcrop but couldnt see anything. It was about 25 blocks down to a lava ocean with some small netherrack islands near the where the lava touched the land mass I was on; I assumed he'd hit one of these islands, died from fall damage, and dropped my gear in to the lava as a result!

Today, I formatted and performed a clean installation of Windows and all my drivers. It was the first time I formatted the computer since I built it in Dec., 2015, I believe. So, almost five years. The i5 6500/GTX 970/16G RAM/SSD doesn't really seem very dated compared to my friend's 8xxx/GTX 1060 computer, though I know it's a generation behind. I'm just not yet very impressed with newer computers, but my friend is also upgrading now to an AMD 3700/RTX 2070. That's going to be a real monster. I'll judge after I see it in action if I want to upgrade, but I'm not messing with it until after New Years.

Minecraft runs so much better now. I suddenly started having poor performance, not just with it, but with the computer in general. It was an issue with Windows update. Runs like a well-oiled machine again! I was glad to get back to flying around upon rocket-powered wings. About a month ago or so, I started getting stutters, glitches and even crashes when flying, so I haven't played very much. It felt good to take a spin around the cloud-covered peaks of the Olympian Mountains in my five-year-old large-biome world. It wasn't that I'd been away from my Minecraft home for a long time; it was just that I hadn't been able to play as I liked due to poor performance. Felt like a new "Steve!"

Hey Sharpe! Funnily enough i've just built a new PC 3-4 months back, but have only recently started using it in earnest as i needed to sort new workstation furniture for my new set-up. I've been playing MC (1.13 still) on and off last few weeks now on the new system (Ryzen 2700X, 64gb 2666 RAM, GTX1060 3GB, NVe M2 Samsung Evo Pro+ HD) and its been playing fine (as you would expect given my old PC was built in 2012) but I need to try it out at my Blaze farm and see if i still get lag as I was getting on old PC when the number of blaze got over 30 or so. Not really mucked about with settings, apart from my soundcard which had defaulted my stereo speakers setup to Dolby 5,1 so I was getting funny sound fades at certain times (as sound was being directed to the non-existant rear speakers!). Have to say the soundcard really does make the music stand out much better than the onboard sound, can hear things i'd never heard before.

I did wonder if I should have waited the extra moinths for the new gen Ryzens and the new faster chipsets that were coming out, sounds like your friends will be a monster! :D

posted a message on Help with minecart filling station

Ahh for a combined Detector/Powered rail! Few times i wanted that.

Not really that great with the nuances of redstone, but seems to me the thing you would need would be if yopu had a row of hoppers leading to the minecart for loading, in the middle of that chain you would need a trapped chest. Using redstone, detect whether that chest is empty or not full - the hopper below is locked, and the hopper above is open. As soon as it reaches max, the hopper status would reverse (using a t-flip-flop say) so the below one becomes unlocked (to fill the minecart) whilst the above one becomes locked (to stop the chest filling up). meanhwhile at the change over a timer also starts which will send a pulse to the powered rail to start the minecart when its fully loaded, you would need to measure how long it takes to fill the cart from empty to full and makle a timer that lasted a few ticks longer or so. When the timer ends the t-flip-flop is reset. I think that could be done, but i dont know how elegant it would be ... need to be a long timer too, dunno ifthat would be possible ...

posted a message on Spawning Room not working...etc...

How big is the area you have checked in terms of the rest of the mountain? As i recall you have to light up all caves and other spawnable areas (such as outside at night) within a 128 block radius of your spwn area) to maximiase the spawning chances only taking place in the area you want. Also, you area of 7 x 13 is rather small, so thats probably even more true.

Also, you havent stated what version you are playing. I play 1.13 and F3 works fine.

I would assume that zombie pigmen use the hostile mob cap.

No I don't think so. I can leave my farm for an hour and will have 100+ ZP's in it. The mechanic that spawns ZP's on overworld portal blocks (to give the illusion they've travelled from the nether) just uses a check every tick on any available portal blocks (hence bigger portals, more chances to spawn).

Must confess glancing at the clip, thats an odd design. The portals are in two groups with no spaces between, so pigmen who spawn on the far side of each group will have to walk across the other portals to reach the drop area. Which is not guaranteed!

Edit: Ahh, missed the bit about the Turtle Eggs, so that lures them to the drop area. I assume you remembered to put the turtle eggs!

When you say the spawns are extremely low, is this based on whats in the collection chests or going up to the portals and visually seeing a lack of ZP's?

MC Day 14914: Having decided I would use purpur blocks as a main block in the build of my Nether Castle, and realising I would need a large amount, I decided to build a large semi-auto Chorus Plant farm adjacent to the castle. Because water couldn’t be used for the collection system, I figured out a rail system with 5 hopper minecarts each collecting a particular area of the farm – I did originally have a design with one cart doing the whole farm, but I realised too late that the hopper would be full probably less than 50% of the way thru its journey, and could not unload then return before the other drops despawned. The farm works by me first climbing up to some walkways and hacking off some flowers for the next crop (The farm has 60 planting spots) then pressing a button to break the plants (the endstone they grow on is on a piston), then a few secs later the carts are activated and collect the drops. Will be adding a sorting system and auto-furnace set-up as work progresses

Oh, and the Ghast count is now 2063 …

LOL, I've layers of it i've been shovelling away and dumping at my current Nether build. Hate the poxy stuff. Can't believe you couldnt find any unless its been made scarcer in later versions since 1.7 when mine generated. Maybe the addition of lava blocks in a later version somehow by accident or intent reduced its commoness ...

MC Day 14711: Still on my Nether Castle build. My main work has been terraforming, mining Netherrack from encroaching areas on the build and smelting it to form Nether Bricks & Slabs to face off the internal levels. Been quite high up to remove overhangs, not easy when you are on a 1 block layer with a Ghast trying to turn it into Swiss cheese. But not fallen so far. Won’t belong before I can start populating it and designing the Castle proper.

The Castle will have three underground levels, the first is bricked out now, has windows letting in lava light from the surrounding lake. Most of the farms and functions (Enchanting, Brewing etc) will go here. Level 2 is nearly bricked out (just a portion of the ceiling to do), and will be where the minecart terminal is located on the branch from the main line. Both levels 1 and 2 are half slabbed to prevent spawns. Level 3 will be an XP farm as it will be the only spawnable area in the castle, so will just aggro the pigmen and chop ‘em up in a closed off area. Topside I intend to have some sort of Ghast theme with a statue, or maybe some murals of its face with different expressions. As the third level is still work in process, I’ve had Ghasts spawn down there, so its been useful to get screenshots quite close up - I heard one down there recently and used an Invisibility potion I had one me for the occasion, so I was able to get him from all angles.

View from the front. Not much to see, just the profile. About 90 x 80 blocks area.

    Other Images

    First floor.

Third floor … and Ghast number 1776!

Mining Netherrack wears the pickaxes down quick, so I’m having to make jaunts back to my overworld Desert Base to use the Gold Farm for a quick recharge …
