posted a message on Mysterious Debug Screen Feature from Hell (or the Nether… Whatever)
Ok… Here's what we know so far. This colored text appears when a Nether Portal will transport you to a different portal than the one you originally linked it to. It also appears on Enderchests, because the items arrive from different places (I assume). But the mystery grows greater because the text does NOT appear on End Portals (I checked in Creative). So it doesn't necessarily relate to Portals. Also, check out this group of Colored Glass I built… And then tell me what on Earth any of this means! For some reason, my colored glass won't bring me back to the same place… (I assume that the colored-glass-portal-text thing is a glitch… Idk… (They are not functioning portals, they just have the mystery text)). Does anyone have a solid answer for all of this?

Thanks Jigglysaint! I see what you're talking about, and I don't think I explained myself very well. I took a screenshot (oooh pretty!)

and I wanted to know about the colored box on the right. It doesn't appear on my Overworld Portal, just my Nether Portal. I'm not really sure what the numbers specifically mean, especially the error in red. I may just not be clearly reading what your reply said, but I can't comprehend it.

So let me outline the situation for you: You currently run Snapshot 14w20b (I'll check the next one when they release it tomorrow). You just built a very nice Nether Portal at your home in the Overworld. You jump through to the other side, because reasons. Once in the Nether, you turn on the debug screen (F3 for the uninitiated). You look over all of the information, and discover something funky. When your cursor rests on the portal blocks of the Nether Portal (the glowing swirly purple ones) a little menu pops up on the right side with mystical information (but only from the Nether… The Overworld Portal has no such info). You scour the Wiki and the Forums and Google itself, and discover nothing.

Now that makes me very curious. I want to know what the little menu tells me. I have no clue what the numbers and letters mean, and I would like to know if anyone else has found that out. Tell me if you know! Thanks!

posted a message on Good Times You Had
Haha my best (read: stupidest) time? First world ever, just built a big nice wooden house with a wool floor. I decided that I needed to get rid of my junk (rotten meat, spider eyes, seeds, etc). So I built a lava incinerator, threw my stuff in, then went mining for a bit. I come home to a burnt ruin. I torched my very first house with lava. Moral of the story? COBBLESTONE.

posted a message on What makes a bad minecraft server: Your thoughts
Ok so everyone pretty much hates Pay-to-Win servers and awful admins. What kills a server for me is ridiculous modifications. I just want to get online and play Minecraft like it was meant to be played. I don't need scoreboards in 27 colors declaring my inferiority, and I don't need 15 worlds that you can only get to as you level up by doing silly things. I want the experience I get in single-player, but with other people. I love minecraft servers, the community is so cool at times, but there are some really awful servers out there, and I think we can all agree that more Server Admins need to come read this thing.

posted a message on One problem with new biome generation.
I feel the pain. In my new world I flew 10,000 blocks over the same four biomes. I got so sick and tired of forests that I no longer wanted to explore. Exploration should be fun, and such massive distances of monotony are no fun at all. I have seen in my new world, in total, ONE desert. No Savannah, no Redwood Forest, no snow of any type. Ugh. The variety of Biomes are terrific, just make the variety easier to get to.

posted a message on I Must Map!
Aaaahhh no. I downloaded it, but it won't run. I'm not the administrator of my computer, and there are a lot of things I can't do. Running extra applications that dig through my Application Support is one of those things. Thanks, but AMIDST can't help me out.

That was where I first went. And they didn't have what I was looking for. I want something that's similar to the online Slime Finder, but that makes maps instead. I just need to see the biomes mapped out. I don't need anything fancy or pretty, just something to get the job done. And I can't download a side client, the permissions on my computer restrict the applications I can run. I only need a browser based map of all the biomes. Does such a thing even exist?

posted a message on I Must Map!
So here is my problem. I need to create a map for my new 13w36b world. I do not mean map like an in-game map that you can craft, nor do I mean a custom world. I mean a literal chart of the surface of the world. I know there are mods that do this, but I don't want to mod my Minecraft. So what I need is an online mapmaker that I can type my seed into and generate a map. After half an hour of abusing Google I still can't find one. Does anybody know a good, online mapmaker?

    posted a message on Castle-ish type/thing? ideas?
Towers. A castle isn't a castle without towers. Build one on each corner, and one over the gate. Build a central keep too. A good pattern I've found uses cobble and stone bricks. Make the outside two layers of your wall (top, bottom, left, and right) out of stone brick, and use the cobble as "filler" to make the rest of the wall. Its my favorite castle design.

posted a message on Minecart Chest in abandoned mineshaft
This is intended, its the new chest system in mineshafts. You will sometimes find minecarts on rails parallel to other rails, or connecting to them. I think it provides more realism, and I actually prefer it.

posted a message on How Did YOU get good at building?
I got good at building by reading a post on the forum called "What to Build: The List". I realized that with an infinite world, I could build as HUGE as I wanted. That, to me, is the key. Most people will cram their entire lives into a 20x20 cube. I did it twice. Now I never have two different functions in the same building. My current build is a 50x50x30 "Farmhouse". It is a mansion dedicated to a wheat and potato farm. Ask yourself, Why not? I also built a 50x50 cobblestone castle in a snowy biome because I had too much cobble laying around. I have absolutely 0 uses for it, but it looks cool as h%ll. As for texture packs, I use Ovo's Rustic. It's a 64x64 rustic pack, and my all time favorite. Hope I could help you, I_am_a_Ruby. And IronwillNeo, those are some bad*ss bridges. I'm not there yet, but I love bridges. Thanks for the inspiration.
