Prepare for disappointment. You got to play on big servers for free before because some idiots liked to pay for features. Servers can't charge for those anymore, so they'll be charging for something else instead. IMHO fewer people will pay for cosmetics*. So it will have to be access itself.
People paying for features was what subsidized your freeloading self having access to the server. Without them, you get to pay up or go away. Enjoy!

Guild Wars 2's item mall begs to differ, friend. Everywhere I go I see people paying for cosmetic upgrades with real money instead of the gold/gems currency exchange, just because they love the game and want to see more content added to it. So if a player on a server really does love the server they play on, they'll donate just to see it stick around. If you donate for any other reason you're doing it wrong, and for the wrong reasons.

Thank you for the information. I'm not looking to become mod right away, I was just curious. If I do decide to make this server my home, I'd definitely want to be a part of the staff, though.

Banned? reason why? Never been banned before.
A few things about your Minecraft experience: I started playing about two years ago and loved every second of it. I usually just build and farm.
Where are you from? United States (Central time)

This is what it looked like at first:
A couple of seconds later:
And after a minute or two of waiting, it ended up like this:
And now it just keeps flashing from those three images to each chunk being made of smooth stone and sometimes being completely empty. It flickers between each of those types of 'images' every few seconds. The world was default generated with no additions, resource packs or mods used, so that's not the issue. The world is completely new, just created about ten minutes ago, so it's a current world. My FPS takes a hit when looking at it (as you can see) so there's something loading/taking up space there.
Just letting others know that this is a possibility. I haven't found a fix for this just yet, but I'm trying everything I can. It may be a rare bug, it may not be, but still.
EDIT: Turning VBO ON fixed the issue almost instantly, strangely enough. Turning it back off immediately creates the problem again. This makes me wonder if it has anything to do with my laptop's specs, but I'm not entirely sure. I'll update if anything else comes up.

Sorry, I apologize if I offended you. Since the end of the word is -vania I've always thought it was referring to the Castlevania games. Again, sorry.

That I did not know, thanks for the info. It'd be interesting to see if they did start up DLC, but at the same time it may not work as intended. I've never played MK8 so I can't confirm or deny whether or not the DLC was successful, but only time will tell.

Can't wait until this is eventually ported to WiiU or 3DS. Because, let's face it, any successful arcade game is always ported (see: Turtles in Time, any rail shooter, the Simpsons game).
