I'm not sure if anyone else has had this issue. I just got an Arris DG950 router/modem hookup, and I'm trying to set up a server for Minecraft. Now I've discerned that in this router's settings, the term "port forwarding" has been replaced with "virtual server". I set up everything else as I normally would (inbound ports 25565-25565, TCP, using the correct local IP) but there is one extra space at the bottom for "local ports" with a port range, same as with the inbound ports. I've tried both leaving them blank as well as putting 25565-25565 in them, both with no luck. I'm not too sure why this isn't working, as I've hosted plenty of Minecraft servers in the past.
Because CMP doesn't have any of the dynamics that smp has I feel like its more of an acomplishment acomplishment to build something without flying hacks and havingto gather the blocks before you can build. I'm more of a builder myself, but sometimes I go mining, or exploring or finding caves. There's just more to do in smp.
That's true, that's why I play on SMP too. The way you worded it just made me wonder.
I have Cuboid installed on my server, and a lot of the areas I have protected have some pretty dark places in them. If a creeper were to explode in my cuboid, would the blocks regenerate from that?
Hmm, it seems this post didn't go through. Anyway, here it is.
I am interested in creating plugins/mods. I was wondering if anyone here on the forums could help me with where you start, what you use, how you write them, etc.
The reason for this is because I am looking to create/find an existing plugin that allows users (who have the command, of course) to hide their nametag from everyone on the SMP server. This obviously is created for admins and maybe mods in mind, but not for anyone else.
When SMP health is implemented, server admins will still have the option to turn off monsters. In my public server, I will ask my players if they want monsters or not before they go diving into caves.
As far as damage from other things, not sure how that will work. Also, I don't mean to sound like a ****, but if you play SMP for building, why not play CMP instead?
@ChargerICC,
You are right that new features should be polished out. My only concern is that all of the new dangers will not actually be dangerous if health isn't fixed. Yeah, it will be cool to go into Hell, but once there, then what? There's no danger.
I am a little irritated at how the last health thread derailed so quickly, and without much reason. I am making this thread so that we can have a no-flame, normal discussion about the issue of SMP health and PvP working in the Halloween update.
Here is what I have gathered so far (let me know if some of this is not credible, I am assuming some of it is)
-Notch originally stated that health would be implemented in SMP, but said that it would be glitchy.
-An update said that SMP may not work in the Halloween update, but if it did not then it would work soon after.
>This of course says that there is a possibility that it will be in the update.
-Many quotes from Notch, such as the one about you dying quickly if you're not prepared for the Ghasts, suggest that we may have health.
When it all comes down to it, in my opinion SMP health is necessary. It should be one of the first things fixed. After all, the name is Survival Multiplayer.
I am not making any claims as to whether or not it will be, nor am I bashing or praising Notch. This is just a thread to discuss any info that some may not have heard. Information not sourced should be ignored.
To try to avoid the flame war between the lovers and haters of notch, I'd like to simply state that one of the main things about hell is that it's supposed to be hard. Implementing hell stage without implementing health defeats the purpose of even adding it to smp at all.

Thanks for the link, I will look into that.
Now that I have part of my question answered, I am still curious if someone has already made a plugin which allows users to turn off their nametag?

Is it possible? Does it exist already?

I have Windows 7 Ultimate, 64 bit. The program works fine. Only bug is the maximize feature just corners it in the top left corner of my screen.
Can't wait for a fix for that, and maybe a bit more zoom out?
Either way, this is by far my favourite mapper I've used. Very easy and quick, clean GUI and everything I need.
I look forward to this program improving.
