As far as technicality goes, you could just use some water... However, in an aesthetic sense, I agree that pillows would be an "adorable" addition. I don't know whether a rough cut Swedish man such as Notch would spring for a cute bock :mellow.gif: . No offense.

Would a pillow block be a dumb suggestion? The last few suggestions I've had have been battered by the harsh community of the forums... A pillow block could be a block that would make no fall damage from falls from 4-32 blocks. the crafting recipe could be a square of 8 wool blocks with a feather in the middle. You could put 4 pillow blocks together and form a cushion, which could stop all falls from 32-64 blocks. You also have to take into account that if you all trying to hit this target on a fall, you may have to make several for a better target so the recipe doesn't sound so easy. It's a practical and adorable block, (seriously, a pillow! :biggrin.gif:) and I hope I don't get such mean criticism like last time. :I

Lamps would be a stronger use of light than torches or glowstone. Also, you could make dys into them so they can be a red or green color (white is the regular and there is no black). You would just get some redstone (five redstone) and some glass and you would craft it the same way TNT is made but you would put the dys in the corners. If redstone is in the game, why not lamps.
I don't want to go all techno but there is redstone so why not make another use for redstone. You would make a lamp, hook it up to redstone or put a lever to it and it would go on.
Right, your recipes are ridiculous. 11 gold for a KEY?!?! Seriously? You don't think people might show a little sense by the time they have that kind of money and HIDE their chests?
Also, keys being registered to a certain chest would either be hard to code or overload the server with too much things to remember.

We need to start getting further in time in Minecraft. We can't start going back in time to sorcery and all that. It is interesting and all, but it ruins the factor of surviving, building, and becoming more developed!
It kinda ruins the tradition Minecraft started out as in the past. We should start beginning to use materials such as iron, coal, and even gold in more useful, efficient ways. Also, start adding in new materials, like tin, copper, and silver.
It would add new weapons such as, Guns, Crossbows, and cannons. It would add to Minecraft so much it would add a new factor into the game, a development phase. :biggrin.gif:
It would create trains, cars, and even planes! It would be so epic if that could be implemented in the game!
Ok i like only the crossbows but they only shoot farther and faster we already got clever and made minecraft cannons so we are good with that and guns, i just do not like that i was just like you like a month ago when you want to add guns and crap but im not insulting you im just tellin a story maybe guns i kinda have an interest in them but they would have to be the ones that they used in Assasins Creed Brotherhood
First of all, I would like to remind everyone that telling someone to get a mod in response to their suggestion is against the rules.
Now, that said, I do like the idea of adding some simple technology to Minecraft. All signs in the game point to the "era" of Minecraft being some time around...oh, let's say 1870-ish? So early industrial technology isn't out of the question. Now, the trick here is that when most people hear words like "guns" and "planes" they immediately think of automatic weapons and jets. In that respect, they're absolutely right. Modern technology and gleaming chrome isn't very in keeping with Minecraft...what you can do with a bit of patience and a lot of glass, iron blocks, stone half-blocks, gold blocks, and obsidian notwithstanding (try it some time; you can make a skyscraper, sidewalk, and city street). However, not all technology is modern. Take pistons for an example; The original mod version was very much gleaming chrome technology, and even the idea is more modern than swords and bows, but Mojang was able to give it a rustic look and feel...to retrofy it, if you will. Thus, they can take something modern and make it fit the world of Minecraft. Heck, Notch has even said that he's interested in adding a form of air travel.
So, rather than modern assault rifles, think of antique muskets, used by guys who still wore plate armour and known for their poor accuracy, long reload times, and producing blinding clouds of smoke in the user's face.
Instead of jets, think of a Wright Brothers style triplane with its prop engine and leather wings. Or go farther back and think of a DaVinci orniothopter. Hot air balloons are very simple, they or their fantasy-staple cousins, airships, could fit into Minecraft as well.
However, I think that this topic is a little sparse on detail. I've put a lot more thought into how to implement technological advancement into Minecraft in my own thread.

Hey so you all know that i posted another thread about cocoanut trees and stuff, well i got an idea from that. Maybe Notch could add a water bar, if you have a hunger bar why not a water bar? You could craft a bucket out of wood or iron (iron would last longer though) and you craft a wooden bucket just a little more complicated then a regular iron bucket. Iron buckets would be the same, regular way you craft it but a wooden bucket would be bit longer in the crafting table. You wouldn't have to boil it because you couldn't find the resources you would need to make a fire, iron bucket, flint and steel or coal.
You could also find water in a spring deep inside the the thick forest but it would be rare.
Thanks but lets get back to the beach. Some of them are really rare so why don't you have them all over the shore instead of dirt or maybe make islands with cocoanut trees (now that is a good idea).
What people mean about realistic things in Minecraft is survival things like beds and swords and other things THAT HAVE TO DO WITH SURVIVAL! ITS FRICKEN MINECRAFT IT IS NOT COMPLETELY REAL BUT IT IS CLOSE. ITS A GAME MAN AND ITS A GOOD ONE AND WE DO NOT WANT ANYONE CHANGING ANYTHING ABOUT IT UNLESS IT JUST ADDS THINGS TO IT WHERE YOU GET TO DECIDE ABOUT WHAT YOU WANT TO DO!
It only does that because you have not been there and it has not been loaded so you cannot have a map of the land if you have not already explored it or went there!
