Grrrrreeeeaaat! First bukkit, and now this. Great job, Mojang folks! I'll bet ya that MS ends Minecraft, then "releases" a Minecraft 2, which we'll all have to pay for (including those of us who bought Alpha and were promised free updates for life) because it'll be a "new" game. Then they'll release it for $60
That may actually be the smart way to go, to get our monies. Not the ending MC part (they should keep MC1 going for a while) but releasing a MC2. How many hours have you played MC? Wasn't it worth a lot more than $25? Wouldn't a really good MC2 be worth $60? Of course it would. It's all going to come down to whether they can do it right. Having invested 2.5 billion, they will be highly motivated to try their hardest to get it right. I'm neither optimistic or pessimistic about it. I think it could be great or not. If not, there's a billion other games, and many of them will be designed as replacements for MC.

List any previous bans: None
How far must you build from others: Far enough to no longer be on their land (see below), unless permission is sought & given
Explain our policy on players' land: A player build effectively claims the entire biome or island it is built on. You must not build on or harvest from another player's land without permission.
Other important stuff not asked for: I am 38; looking for an 18+ survival server with a friendly community!

Age: 38
What do you hope for out of this server: Looking for a fun vanilla MC server with a positive community!
Your play style: Obsessive?
Your time zone: Eastern
How often daily/weekly would you play: Several hours a day (maybe more on days off)
Something interesting about you: I wrote a program to convert images to MC block patterns, guess those wouldn't be welcomed here but I can build other things instead

Looking for some new and interesting mods to try out. Ones with content that would appeal to a very small server (2 or 3 players, most likely.) Suggestions appreciated, thanks.

I still have no idea how to make a carpenter's fence, and that bugs me because I really want to use them. Can you tell me what the carpenter's fence recipe should be in 2.0.8? The "boat" orientation of 5 sticks does nothing, 6 sticks makes a normal fence. Tried "helmet" orientation of 5 sticks, tried using carpenter's blocks, can't get a carpenter's fence.
Tried versions incrementally. The "boat" shape 5-stick recipe works through 2.0.2, and no longer works in 2.0.3. Do I need to use 2.0.2 or is there a new recipe that works?
Nevermind. Just installed NEI so I could see the recipe. Somehow didn't try that combination of 2 sticks + 2 carpenters blocks. I think I'll keep NEI, within 10 seconds it's already been very helpful, heh.
A comment though... you really change your recipes too much.

Bit of advice though -- I've tried a stripped down version of the moonquest mods for my own crappy server. On researching it I found that having Biomes o Plenty (which I normally like to have) causes unfortunate things... specifically plants and things all over the moon. My friend said that on the Yogscast they had to have someone prepare the moon first in creative mode by manually wiping out all of the "moon plants." So ... something to think about, whether you really want BoP or not. Who knows, maybe they fixed it, you can check.

Brilliant. Except you're now cut off from 99% of MP servers. Where patches go, almost everyone goes. We don't have much of a choice.

Requirements:
- 18+
- Survival
- Whitelisted
- "Grief Prevention" or similar for build & chest protection -- if this is planned but you're waiting for plugin updates, that's fine too.
- 1.7.2+ map
Other stuff:
- I'd prefer mostly vanilla (a few mods/plugins are OK.) However, I'd be up for some mods if they're fun and don't take away from the survival experience, but add to it. I do like some of the biome and creature mods!
About me: I've played MC for 1-2 years, I like harvesting and will put a lot of work into public projects like roads and spawn, etc. However, I've put a lot of work in on several servers just to find out it was all wasted. I'd like to find a place where work would be appreciated and count towards something!

KayaDash - The seed "mushmushmush" gives you a large mushroom island near the map center, and has bryce mesa west and ice spikes east, although they are a couple km out even on normal biomes.

I was wondering if a faster tool existed to speed up this process (mass-searching seeds for specific biome configurations) or how hard it would be to make one? I have coding experience in C/C++. If someone could get me started with how to access the 1.7.2 biome generation code (like Amidst presumably accesses) I could probably write it. Thanks!
