Honestly it's a bit childish to punish fans of your game just because a few morons on the internet send you hate.

Some people were looking forward to Fez II.

Seriously. Suck it up and move on.

More than a few morons said bad things about him or to him, but I agree that he should have refrained from responding.

I just had to buy a car, so I don't have any money to buy anything. The only thing that I currently want is super meat boy, and I would waste money on it if it is 50 - 75% off.

For me, I was never able to create aesthetically pleasing things out of legos. I love building kits though. Now, instead of using legos to be creative, I program computers.

posted a message on Jailbreaking? Do or Don't?
I was used only jailbroken I-devices for 3 years, and just recently unjailbroke my ipod. I think that it is worth it on either a new device that doesn't slow down, or on an old device that can't use new features anyway. on my 4th gen ipod however, the tweaks that i like to use slowed it down to much to be worth it.
Long story short, it depends on the situation. Your best bet is to try it and see for your self. If you don't like it, you can always go back.

posted a message on trying to learn java
    Quote from Sillen

A lot of people think that copying code from the internet to make Minecraft mods is an okay start to programming or even game development. It isn't.

Although i agree with what you are saying, it isn't always true. I already knew how to program, just not java. Following modding tutorials helped me to learn the proper syntax of java. But I still wouldn't recommend it for someone that doesn't know any programming already.

As I said, you can start with LWJGL

I wasn't ignoring your post, but CosmicSpore had asked me a direct question. I looked at LWJGL, and it is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks very much.

Games are composed of....... Tons, and tons of different concepts.
Gaming evolved basically from combining every aspect of computer programming into one solid form... It takes from practically every aspect of programming.

What part of 'game making' do you need the most help with?

    Edit:
And what kind of games do you want to make?
Making a game in flash, for example, is a lot different than making a game in something like C++.
And making a puzzle game is a lot different than making an RPG.

I need help with the graphical aspect of it. As in generating the world, having it be visible to the user, and being able to add different things to the world. Such as characters. And as for what type of games, I would like to make a 3d game. But I understand that it is very important to start with a basic 2d game before you go to advanced things

posted a message on Help learning to make games.
I have experience with programming, and that's not what I need help with. I need help starting to learn game design. I have learned Visual Basic, Pascal, and Java, but I have never learned how to do graphical games. Can someone give me some good tutorials or books that would help me learn? I tried to learn some actionscript and make flash games, but I couldn't find any good tutorials.

posted a message on Any advice for a new Programmer?
    Quote from sankto

If you make a program or game, finish it. Cut on the features if necessary (sometimes, ideas and knowledge of how to apply those ideas doesn't go hand in hand), but finish it.

This is some of the best advice that i have seen. If something doesn't go right the first time, don't give up. Try to debug it and get it working. Not only will you learn a lot more that way, you will also feel a lot better than if you quit.

posted a message on Blocking access to Minecraft
At my school, the .minecraft folder is simply blocked from the appdata folder. Although you could get around it by copying the folder in under a different name, then change it back.

    Quote from StalePhish

You could try blocking any executable with the word Minecraft in it (i.e. *minecraft*.exe, *minecraft*.jar), but again, people will find a way around it.

You could restrict access to %AppData%\.minecraft, but students will figure out that you can call set APPDATA=SomewhereElse from a batch file and they will get around it.

To block multiplayer, you can try blocking port 25565 which will make a bunch of the multiplayer servers not work.

Another way would be to block the Minecraft account authentication servers (I'm not positive, but it may be off *.minecraft.net or *.mojang.com), but they will still be able to play in offline mode.

Basically, there is no sure way of blocking Minecraft from being run unless you completely disable Java.

edit: sorry, didnt see this post.

posted a message on TF2 download is SO long
    Quote from zSneakyPetez

Considering the file for Team Fortress 2 is 10,616MB . It's gonna take a while.

And to the moron who said they downloaded it 5 mins, 10616MB/300sec = about 35MB/s
So I'm calling complete and absolute

My brother averages at 30MB/s download, and 5MB/s Upload. 35 isn't that much higher

Maybe you should work for Mojang and help them rewrite their engine! I'm sure they would pay you tons!

My reaction to most people that try to tell game devs how to code. Many people assume that coding is easy, and that anyone can make a game in their free time. Of the 10 people in my AP CS course at school, three of them started at the ap level because they thought it would be easy. One of them thinks he is good at it simply because he is good at other ap classes. He thinks its ok to do something different than what is asked, as long as it outputs the same thing.
