if I HAD to choose one of those two, I'd go with Farlander.
I like Slendermen over both Endermen or Farlanders though.

Jun 30, 2011Wait, so if I pre-ordered LA Noire, I got DLC free, but if I didn't I had to pay for it? What gives?Posted in: Discussion
This is fairly common in the game industry with just about every big name release doing something similar, just with pre-orders. Alpha gets any expansions for free if they happen. Beta pays a bit more than alpha and gets all updates until release for free, anything else after they have to pay for. Players who buy at release pay more than Beta players, and also don't get expansions for free.
It's all marketing and its designed to get people to adopt the game earlier. Complaining about it is just silly, especially seeing as this kind of thing has been going on for YEARS in retail stores for games and other things.
Jun 16, 2011That's... a lot of video to watch for a roof.Posted in: Videos
Especially when steps are probably the best way to go for form (they look nice), functionality (they are great for attic space, and allow you to use chests that are placed directly under them), and cost (6 cobble for 4 blocks, compared to the 3 blocks for 3... half blocks).

I'm upset because the only people that have consoles are children whose parents won't buy them a good PC to play games on.
And all those children will come flooding on to forums and servers, ruining the game for anyone who wants to play intelligently.
That's a really narrow minded generalization. I own a gaming PC and gaming laptop, as well as a PS3, 3DS, PSP, and Wii. I prefer handheld gaming over console gaming, and console gaming over PC gaming for my own reasons. Minecraft may not appeal to everyone (the guy who plays Call of Duty 10 hours a day every day probably wont be interested in Minecraft) and assuming that all it can do is bring "bad apples" into the community is short sighted.
This community is already filled with its share of "bad apples". Topics by trolls and complainers that we have to wade through to get to relevant topics on the forum, that won't be changed by new gamers coming on board, and I'm fairly certain that that balance won't be effected either.
Plus, Microsoft has a long history of not allowing/not having cross platform multiplayer with games on their systems, meaning any multiplayer servers for Minecraft on the 360 are probably going to be 360 specific.
If anything what can be expected is more of the same, if you want to play "intelligently" you'll have to wade through topics on the forum, and peruse server options to find something that suits you.

NOTCH DOES NOT SUPPORT KINECT
YOU HAVE TO MOD MINECRAFT TO DO THIS
Except it was just announced at the Microsoft press conference at E3 that it's coming to the Xbox 360 with Kinect support.

So the game is going over to COD kiddies completely now? It was already bad enough with the one from seananners but now this?
Well, there goes the last breath of hope I had for this game....
I have no idea what you're upset about, why is it being on a console a bad thing?

The biggest issue with Minecraft for Consoles/Mobiles is the fact that mods and the like won't be available and if they are will probably be monotized.
PS3 is capable of Mod support in some of it's games (Unreal Tournament III for instance), and Mojang can't technically monetize mods because they are not made by Mojang themselves.
Jun 6, 2011Also, I feel that the more people who get to experience and play Minecraft, the better. It's a great game that appeals to just about anyone thanks to its gender neutral design, gameplay, and appeal. Adding support for consoles, handheld devices, and Kinect is a smart move and allows them to hit a lot of other demographics that might otherwise completely miss out on a game that they may really enjoy.Posted in: Discussion
Jun 6, 2011From what I understand it's got Kinect support, but that's not stopping you from using just a normal controller to play.Posted in: Discussion
Might as well make it support the tech if it's there right? My only gripe with Kinect is that there hasn't really been much to warrant it's purchase yet. However, Mass Effect 3's voice commands and Project Draco have me wanting one (who am I kidding, a game by Yukio Futasugi is all it needs for me to warrant a purchase).
Back on the topic of Minecraft however, I'd love to see it on my PS3, but only if I can use the same worlds across both.
May 26, 2011Posted in: Survival ModeQuote from MalmekyThe parallel boosters were not a glitch, they were a FEATURE...
Notch has stated since what, alpha? that he though boosters looked silly and didn't think they had a place in Minecraft. They weren't intended therefore, they were a glitch. While using them to your advantage is a viable gameplay means (and one of the many ways gameplay can be emergent), but the fact is that they were never intended and he goes as far back as october of last year (CTRL + F for booster here) stating that a booster block/rail would be the likely replacement for glitch boosters.
That being said, not listening to the developers intentions is no reason to be angry with him when he fixes bugs in a game that's currently in beta. The only person to blame for it is yourself for:
1) using the glitch in the first place
2) not researching information about it before hand
I'm not saying you don't have a reason to be frustrated, I would be too if I was in your shoes. I'm also not blaming you, scouring for everything he's said about a glitch before using it yourself is a lot to ask of anyone. However, you can't blame him for working on his game and making it what he said he wanted it to be months ago.
Glitch boosters are gone, and have been replaced with power rails, thats all there is to it, sorry.
