May I comment on your name for a second?

I'm pretty impressed that Fluttershy wasn't already taken as a name.

May I comment on your avatar for a second?

Octavia is best pony always and forever.

Edit: Oh hey wait you're that guy.

    ↑ Supposed to be Rainbow's and Octavia's gayby. Don't ask me I don't know.

Everything I know is a lie.

I felt the same way about you not really posting anything that I deemed worthy of a response.

    Quote from Nerevar

I mostly agree with this. Actually, even from the start I never really viewed them as being in a full relationship. They always struck me as really good friends, with perhaps some 'benefits' on the side if things permit it. To me they appear likely as being two compassionate mares who are simply enjoying their youth, not a real couple who's investing into their future with one another. It definitely could develop into that, but that's not now how it speaks to me usually.

I do like the specific idea of them sharing an apartment while they both work on their careers, though.

I agree wholeheartedly. To tell the truth, I think the reason it's just starting to bother me now is because I'm just now fully recognizing Vinyl as a female on a subconscious level. Ponies don't have gender cues that instinctually register for humans except for eyelashes and long hair, neither of which Vinyl typically has.

Not that I thought she was a guy, I just didn't see her as a girl in the deepest crannies of my mind.

I don't have anything to add (surprisingly, not even on Ner's post), so have some images.

P.S. I think I've decided I'm opposed to TavixVinyl shipping. I intentionally avoid pics in which they're kissing, I find it needless when they're doing anything beyond platonicy, and I much prefer when they're portrayed as friends. Don't know how this happened, and I'm certain it's not for any feelings of mine toward Octavia--it's just I see them more as friends and find shipping to be overreaching it. Or maybe I'm starting to think that neither of them really fit as lesbian.

I assume we will never see the rest of your last fiction. that is a shame.

Oh right, I think I never told the thread that we abandoned it. We did so during Lent, so I was obligated not to--but I made a blog post about it on fimfiction, and edited the descriptions on dA to reflect the abandonment (then scrapped them).

I'm considering bringing it back, maybe, eventually, mainly because there are plenty of ideas in there that I'm quite fond of but which don't work in any other setting. Mainly Apollyon.

    Quote from Bachellor_Coyotl

On the other hand i read that telling everyone your goals will prompt you to achieve them to avoid the shame.

Not if you're shameless like me! :D

    ... D'x

But srs, it's been proven by neuroscientists that telling someone your goals activates the same part of the brain that achieving them does, fooling you into subconsciously believing that you're done with it and don't need to work on it anymore. I've known this for a while from experience, but only now do I get validation and actually vow off sharing anything.

    Oh, okay, sorry. -snip-

Then welcome! I hope you'll stick around!

To help FBB feel more welcome, let's all post our favorite ponies, shall we? My favorite of the mane cast is Twilight, closely followed by Rarity and Pinkie--but if you expand that to background ponies, my fave by far is Octavia (as seen in my avatar).

    Quote from Nittles

So Meghan McCarthy claiming that the Twilicorn story arc will be resolved in a way satisfying to everyone coupled with this tweet (note that the question was about alicorn immortality, but the answer was about Twilight), leads me to believe Twi will be giving up her princesshood for her friends.

Which I've been saying should be what happens. Sometimes your dreams are worth sacrificing for the people you love. Bam. Epic friendship lesson right there.

I think that's possible, but unlikely. I doubt things will really be able to go back to the way they were. If so, though, I imagine it'll make as many people as possible happy (though some will still cling to Alitwi despite this ending, since I've seen many people take up a form of Stockholm syndrome regarding the issue).

Edit: When making my Bioshock: Infinite dump, I managed to overlook one of the images that I had favorited, but not bookmarked. Since that one was naturally the best one, I thought it best to not only edit it in to the dump, but (since the dump was very nearly a pageass anyway) to post it separately for all to see:

Since the thread is being pretty inactive, and since I'm somehow still obsessing over Bioshock: Infinite, have a dump of the considerable amount of ponified Infinite fanart that has shown up on dA since the release (I'm fairly sure I posted most of the decent stuff pre-release).

If you haven't played/finished the game and didn't understand some of those images, don't worry about it.

P.S. I'm starting to consider writing a ponified Infinite fanfic based on Harmony, but I'm not sure I'll ever write fanfiction again. I'll deliberate some more and, 'll complete them' class='bbc'>if I decide I won't, I'll share my musings with you.

Hey. Nice of you to drop in; always nice to see new faces. But one-word posting is discouraged, so rather than just saying hello, mind telling us something about yourself? Favorite pony, episode, song, etc? How you found out about the show, how long you've known?

EqD interviewed Meghan McCarthy about S4. No spoilers; in fact, very little substantive stuff at all. She does make the dubious claim that the conclusion of the Twilicorn arc will keep everyone happy (which is utterly impossible at this point; even if everything goes back to normal, some people will be upset it ever happened). She also says S4 will continue to have both slice-of-life and grand adventure-type episodes, and mentions that pop culture references will stay strong if not increase. Interesting stuff.

Also, I went to Model UN on Wednesday and Thursday. The Economic and Social delegate from Iraq was wearing a "BRONY" bracelet, and some of my friends pointed that out to me and introduced him to me (and a girl in my class who likes, but isn't too crazy about, MLP said, and I quote, "You must brony with him.")

Don't have much else to say, so have a thirty-image dump.

Anyways, let's have a small flashback topic for fun. When was the moment you realized, or it *clicked* in your head, that you loved the show and/or became/accepted yourself as brony?

I've told this story before. One day, an internet friend of mine brought it up, and made me promise to watch it. A month later, I saw it on my television screen and elected to start watching episodes, once a day at noon (that's what things were like summer of 2011). I saw Swarm of the Century, thought it was moderately alright. Saw everything in Winter Wrap-up after the song and wasn't impressed. The rest of the episodes I saw on TV were CMC, and I was pretty much ready to give up.

Then I discovered it on Youtube. I think I went forward from the last episode I saw, then backward from the first episode I saw (including the first half of WWU). I managed to miss Bird in the Hoof, but that's irrelevant--within the night I was convinced.

    Quote from Nerevar

Small Topic #2: What is your favorite song from the show? What is your favorite solo (whether song or scene) from the show?

Tough one. Probably Smile, Smile, Smile for the first half, and... Flutterguy's Evil Enchantress for the second.

    Quote from OpelSpeedster

Anyone can give me some advice on how to make at least a Medium-quality fiction?

Read a book, read a book, read a...

But srs, just read a lot. That's how I learned to write. That, and base your characters on yourself, and on people you know (but mostly yourself).

That number one deserves its spot, cause

(Vinyl is kinda awesome too though).

What's up with all the Tavi love in the past day? Did all my essence, kept under cork for Lent, just flow out into this thread upon my return?

To celebrate, I'mma empty my bookmarks bar of all Octavia-related images.

    Oh, and also,
First of all, the voice actors were absolutely brilliant. Vinyl had the kind of tomboyish inflection that I really think suits her, and I almost want to say she was better than Tavi--but, then again, it could've just as easily have been that she had the kind of shy, almost-emotionless voice/personality which I know certain girls to have. Until she got to the music, at which point she had a surprising amount of soul.

As for the song... Thankfully, the only stuff I had heard from the original was a short clip in Pop Danthology, so I was able to enjoy the lyrics for their own quality rather than comparing them to the words that were actually written for the music.

That is, until the chorus. "I am Octavia" was so strange as to be almost laughably bad, yet more in a laughable way than a bad one. I had to turn it off before it went too far, but it didn't leave a bad taste in my mouth.

Whoa, what? When did she show up? Either I'm blind or I REALLY need to pay more attention...

    Snowflake as in Roid Rage/Horsepower.

Also, something else I forgot to mention: This episode could stand to have waited until around the middle of the summer. Why? So that the real voices would be as stale in our minds as possible. Because the VAs made a valiant effort and did really well, but because I was watching MLP not too long ago I noticed the few times they failed. In comparison, I had no problem with the PPG voices because I haven't watched PPG in about six months.

See you after school. And I'll get Ner's topics then, too.

Hearing this back and forth, and not actually having seen the episode, I've got to honestly say that I think I agree with Aaron more. But I'd like to add that, if anything has any redeeming qualities, especially a cartoon about ponies, you should focus on those things that make it good rather than what makes it bad. After all, the worst it could possibly be is frame after frame of fanart, and we look at fanart for its own sake anyway.

That said, I'll watch it when I finish my homework.

The above is unfinished, explaining the increasing detail from left to right.

    Edit:
It was alright. The Derpy reference and Snowflake popping up were the only things really out of place, but the rest was, at worst, only a little bit awkward. I'm agreeing with Jair even more now.

Also, is it bad that the only thing in the whole 29 minutes to get me to actually laugh out loud was when Rainbow stood up and banged into Pinkie's head, emitting a squeaky sound? The others got a chuckle, but the timing of that one was just great.
Don't know why I let you guys hype me up for this. Not that it was bad, it just wasn't interesting. In fact, it was even less so than the French dub (which I had already watched).

But, the voices were good, the only one really seeming out-of-place being AJ's (though that's understandable, since they can't just give her a southern accent). I noticed that Lyra was as silent in this one as in English (in Italian and French she says "Ciao" when she waves to Twilight on the bridge). I have to say Twilight was my favorite voice, followed closely by Rainbow and then Pinkie. Some translations were a little odd, such as Rainbow saying "You're weird. See ya later!" rather than anything that resembled a compliment and/or offer of friendship, which was kind of the point (for the record, English is along the lines of, "You're a hoot, Twilight Sparkle. We should hang out some time!")

And speaking of Rainbow's scene, something struck me about it. From that point on, neither Rainbow nor Twilight act quite like that for the rest of the series. Granted, Twilight suffers from acute character development in the following episode, but... Just look for yourself. Never once in the show does Rainbow act like she does between meeting Twilight and starting to talk about herself, except for in that moment.

posted a message on Doctor Who! =D
Did anyone else notice the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy reference in the new episode? It was deliciously subtle--when going through the crowd and listing alien species, the Doctor points to one that just looks like a suit with nothing in it and says "That's a Hooloovoo."

A Hooloovoo in Hitchhiker's Guide is a superintelligent shade of blue, which explains why it would inhabit an empty suit.

Double Rainboom's thing as that they saturated the entire project with out-of-place gags and references that skewed the pacing, or were just awkwardly fit. I swear they were aiming at comedy-via-memeology.

ADD THE REFERENCES BECAUSE FUNNY LEEL.

My philosophy is that, as long as a reference is subtle enough to fly over the head of anyone who doesn't understand the source material and not hinder their enjoyment at all, it does nothing but good. If it gets in the way of someone's immersion if they don't understand, that's bad.

That said, I've yet to watch Double Rainboom.

The next page of the human comic is out!
First of all, if you can read Spanish, even if only barely, read the Spanish version. The artist is Chilean, and the translations are always terrible. The English version is in this spoiler.
Don't have many comments here, other than I was a little disappointed when it was revealed that Rarity was wearing heels. I have a thing for tall girls.
