ESC may not be the most popular band quite yet, seeing as prior to this release a few days ago they only had and available to the public. But, I must say, they've really made this album worth the wait.
As their name may imply, they play their own brand of electroswing, with ' class='bbc'>some inspiration taken from circus tunes. They have quite a satisfyingly large range in the spectrum between electro and swing, with many songs (Mellifluous, Minnie) sounding absolutely dancable and bassy, while some (Harvey, Put Your Smile On) are almost accoustic. Chances are, if you check out the album, you'll find at least one song you like.
You can find it here. Since it's hosted on bandcamp you can sample it for free online, but sadly they charge a minimum of £7, or a little more than $10, to download it. I ripped it for free using a website (offliberty.com, if you want to do it yourself--but I highly recommend just paying if you can).
Would also want some new antagonists in this season; the recent season, season 3, basically converted Trixie along with Discord, which killed the chance of them ever being the antagonists in the show, and remaking them as one wouldn't help, either.
There were so few new characters whatever in this last season. And those that did weren't all that great, either.

Edit: Oh, also, Octavia's official Hasbro full name is Octavia Melody now. I think it's a good thing, because I always hated "Philharmonica" and the fandom just couldn't get out of that rut. Octavia Melody doesn't sound all that good, but it certainly sounds better.
Read good books. When I first started writing, I had read so much recently that I had no trouble writing stuff that sounded good. It was crap, of course, because I had just started writing and at age 14--but it sounded good.
I don't know very well how the minds of neurotypical people work, though, so it may not be that easy for you. But it certainly can't hurt.
If only there had been someone earlier who attempted multiple times to raise discussions to beat some life into the thread - because he really dislikes massive small-posting and vid-posting - and he hadn't been ignored; causing him to abandon the thread for several days out of slight frustration, also losing nearly all care or incentive to really try again.

It's alright. I've been working ignoring the same vector for about three months now, because Celestia's necklace regalia is incredibly annoying to vector as it wraps around her neck. I have to built it in multiple layers and it's very annoying. The vector is practically done, yet every time I open it and look at that unfinished piece I just sigh and close Illustrator. At least your stuff is already decently popular; I even saw someone post your battle-ready Celestia and Luna in a thread on /mlp/ the other night.
You've got to force yourself to start again. It's hard to start, but it's easy to continue. You can do this.
I totally called this! Oh man that feels good. Though I fleshed it out further by saying Celestia was the previous wielder of the Element of Magic, and she was able to recognize Twilight was the new wielder, which explains why Celestia was able to 'tap into' it and bring Twilight back to her normal state -- Celestia was its previous master. It also solidifies Celestia's confidence in Twilight being able to defeat Nightmare Moon.
I liked that part a lot; I also liked that NMM was confirmed to be something not necessarily specific to Luna, that the deer story was confirmed as more than a rumor, that Trixie went to the School for Gifted Unicorns (I wonder if she and Twilight subconsciously recognized each other), finally putting to bed the theory that Celestia and Luna had other Element-wielders with them (I hate that theory), and all that other stuff about the Princesses like the parents and confirmation that the Everfree castle was actually their previous palace.
The four stars should have more fan theories surrounding them. I haven't heard much at all dealing with them, and they seem to have a lot of potential. Problem is, they don't really fit in well with anything else...
And, finally, Faust should team up with a fan or group of fans to write something about the Princesses' childhood, because that sounds amazing. Not necessarily a fan fiction, per se, but... I don't know. Something amazing. I'd love to see what she had in mind.

Some day, perhaps soon, I'm going to try my hand at humanizing Octavia (learning to draw ponies would be too much effort for too little reward, considering I'm fading from the fandom quickly).
I don't know which songs come from which albums (I do know this about bands such as Yes, Rush and Pink Floyd, wonder why I don't for Queen), but I believe A Day at the Races is the one that has Bicycle Race on one side and Fat Bottomed Girls on the other? If so, those are 2 of my favorite Queen songs, so I'd have to choose that one at first glance.
When locked away inside the Moon, Luna may have been stuck in a sort of self-conscious sate where time may have been irrelevant entirely for the mind, allowing her to understand her mistakes and miss Celestia yet not endure the whole dimension of her entire banishment. However, she was probably consciously suffering the passage of time when NMM had control.
Or you could follow the theory that I made up when I first noticed the discrepancy: the Nightmare's first Long Night lasted for quite some time--long enough to plunge the nighttime side of the planet into winter. During that time, Luna "missed" Celestia either because she was trapped inside her mind with no senses or at least no meaningful contact, or because they literally did not see each other.
Meanwhile, the ponies migrated to an area on the border between day and night to found Equestria. This story is told in a telephone-version as the Hearth Warming story, with Luna's bitterness represented by the windigos and the Elements being represented as the Fire of Friendship.
While I realize you really just tossed this out there because you could, I can't see myself ever agreeing with this explanation. The size difference* is just too much. Luna's wings are even shaped differently, almost as if they're not as mature. Even if Lauren herself said this was the case, I'd have to push it aside because it just seems unnecessary.
I may have overshot it, though.
People can have huge variances in height, and it's been shown in canon that ponies can as well. Therefore it's not only justified, but also more parsimonious to assume that Celestia is just taller. As for the wings...
Wing variances, while not "common" per se, happen. I believe Celestia has unique wings, in fact--which may be a result of her different body shape, or perhaps just a result of her having different wings. Also, I believe Luna's wings look the same as a regular pegasus' (to be confirmed).
I am playing the devil's advocate, because I do agree with you that I prefer the idea that it's something else. But we needn't discount the theory that Celestia is just tall.

Sometimes I wonder about that. Is it just a common mistake, or do people purposely adopt that particular detail to make it easier for some fanmade stuff?
Evidence that she was unconscious/spiritually but not physically imprisoned:
1. Whenever her state is mentioned, it is said she was "in the moon," not "on the moon." And that's not just in the term Mare in the Moon--the narrator at the beginning says "banished her permanently in the moon."
2. If she was physically on the moon, why the maria? The appearance of marking implies there was something more there than being shot by a cannon up there.
3. 1,000 years, and not once did she doubt her motives? I'm sure a moonwalker Nightmare would stop thinking "They should really appreciate the night" and start thinking "I want to eat food again. I miss tastes, and sounds, and color."
4. It doesn't seem as though she got back by physical means. The stars supposedly aided in her escape--how could burning balls of gas billions of lightyears away get her from the surface of the moon back to earth?
5. Luna was not the least bit spiteful for being away so long after being purified.
Evidence that she was conscious and physically standing there:
1. "I missed you, Big Sister!" She wouldn't have missed her had she not been awake.
So guys, what's your personal headcannon or best explanation for the size difference between Luna and Celestia? Is it as simple as Celestia is just the older sister? Is it because Luna didn't physically age in the Moon? Celestia's greater size represents her having more power?

I typically follow Occam's Razor with headcanons unless I'm using them in a story, so while your theory is cool and has some interesting implications I think I prefer the "not aging" theory.
Either that, or it's quite possible Celestia is just taller. I.e. it's in her genes. The show has never demonstrated that they are, necessarily, gods in the typical sense.
Luna's probably my favorite of the royal sisters. I find that a lot of her fanon interpretations show her as one who more easily displays a sassy, playful side than her counterpart while still maintaining a regal air.
Luna has a lot of potential to be awesome in fanon, and I think I like working with her better at times, but often writers don't do as much with her as they can. I think, in general, Celestia is often better.
This also brings to mind how exactly the Sun and Moon themselves operate. Personally, my headcannon is that they are very large, and perhaps of equal size. They can only be moved by incredible amounts of power, such as alicorn magic, and the unicorns of the past actually only turned the (smaller) Earth. Notice during the episode with the play showing Equestria's history, it mentions the unicorns raised the Sun, no word of the Moon. I like to interpret this as maybe the Moon once maintaining its own independent orbit like the real moon does, up until Celestia and Luna took over the role to coordinate the two celestial bodies in a balanced cycle of harmony.
I like this theory. I gotta go, though, so I can't say much more.
That's why you get the pots and pans and oil drums and fashion your own kit. If the poor blacks of the 20's and 30's can make a make-shift kit or instrument from assorted refuse then I can. Then merely string it all together digitally, which I have audacity on hand for (though, not technically, I got it in the event I record myself reading something again).
And my little brother has a electrical guitar he doesn't use and I can always grab the acoustic he passed to me and play like and go closer to old-school blues than rock and roll.
Then I guess it's a matter of laziness. But you can change the world, Aaron; I know you can. So you do that.

And I am a little disheartened at the lack of actual rock. As complained earlier: it feel sort of synthetic, border-line pop. I'f told myself if I learn to music I should go more Stones than Beatles and settle in there.
You have to consider that the whole "Make a band in your garage" cliché is dying out. I haven't even seen an electric guitar in years--best case the kiddies learn to play an acoustic so they can sing love songs, and that is reflected in some of the songs in the fandom (Mandopony for one, I think).
What I'm saying is, these people can't put together bands quite as easily anymore, meaning making legit rock will be hard. Everything will have to have a degree of digital tomfoolery in it, even if they are making metal or rock.
P.S. I can't dance, and don't socialize often. I just appreciate a decent foundation that keeps me engaged the whole way through. I do always have a place in my heart for classic rock, though, even if I can't keep but a few songs on my iTunes without flipping them out when they get boring (I listen to the stuff more on the radio).
The question is less "Why watch this?" and more "Why not?" Now, I understand when people don't like cartoons or musicals; but I see some people watching Gravity Falls, Spongebob and Adventure Time, then turning around to say "Ponies are for girls."
Once you get beyond the exterior, it's actually a very good show. Not the best thing ever, but good in the same way as most other TV shows. One of the best examples of animation in the past few years, I'd say.
Beyond that, there are believable characters, frequently cool plots, awesome songs, some good humor here and there, top-notch animation, and overall a really happy feeling that comes from it. In short, it's fun.
Also, as should become apparent by the end of this post, the fandom pumps out a ton of awesome art 24/7.
P.S. Starting with the first episodes usually isn't a good idea. If you want my suggestion, try S2E1+2, S1E9, S2E20, or S2E26 (second part of a 2-parter, but the first part isn't all that important and is summarized in the beginning)

I seem to be having issues again finding brony-songs and I'm looking back at the first year of the MLP fan-music community and seeing more "spirit" in those tunes than what I'm often finding here. Even if those early songs were just as electric as the new stuff.
It feels synthetic in a sense. And it doesn't help when EQD miss-tags genres.
None of those songs really ' class='bbc'>kept me interested, though I do respect the last one for having strange time signatures. Artists these days tend to take the easy way out and use common time, while it's so much cooler to use other stuff.
