And how do you propose we fill a voxel with two different sets of data simultaneously? This isn't something that they just chose not to do, they didn't do it because there isn't an easy way to do this. Your best bet is making some sort of complex tile entity that can accomplish storing the properties, mechanics, and hitboxes of two things simultaneously, which is in no way easy. So do you have any ideas on how to do this?

One of the club members decided to build a zombie in a minecart that went around a rail in circles in the middle of the roof/second floor. As head of the club, I thought the structure was stupid and annoying so I removed it. The server owner banned me for griefing.
If they would do something like they do with the doors. The doors are thin enough you can walk through them, you can choose which side of the block to place it on, and you can walk between 2 blocks with doors on each without getting stuck. So far that;s the only way i've found to make a wall like you are talking about. the only problem is that if you activate them, it messes up the orientation. They could just mod the doors so they no longer open and stack and you would have walls that would work to for the stuff we want.
I could see other versions, like making asian style paper walls, or even making different types of wall paper that you could use paper and dye to create. that would be awesome.
It says in the OP that items are not used up. Only dyes are used up. All you need to post a clip art thing is to simply have the thing in your inventory to begin with

I think part of it is because it doesn't make sense (the clip art would be ink, not the physical item) and part of it is because why would someone waste a perfectly good Diamond Sword to put it in a book?

Ok i agree if its realistic..cause minecraft beyond some things is realistic game so things and more advance villages, well 'Citys' cause i believe minecraft lacks this. This is why i was happy when Microsoft took over because i thought alot of cool things would be added and faster...i was wrong...(I obviously don't know how long code takes XD) But the point is the game lacks alot of stuff.... and i think things like this well be great...so beside some minor changes needed and textures...I support it.
Microsoft did not take over minecraft. They simply bought Mojang. Mojang is still working on Minecraft, but Microsoft takes care of the financial stuff.
It's because your skin is not in the 1.8 skin format, which allows separate textures for arms and legs.
Minecraft is reading the leg texture on your skin as the right leg, and the arm texture as the right arm, so those are rendered properly. However, it does not find anything when it looks for the left arm and leg, so it renders them as black.
