Honestly, I gotta say I disagree a bit with you there. I honestly think reusing the same pattern for all blocks make them more consistent and fits well with the overall smooth theme. Of course, it's a lot easier than starting from scratch with each block, and could (and maybe should) be looked at as laziness, but I don't necessarily think it's bad.

Thanks a ton for the feedback though!

Hi guys! I'm working on a smooth texture/resource pack. It's by no means complete, but I do have a lot of blocks done so far.

    Images:

General terrain image, with grass, dirt, stone, sand, sandstone, a nether portal, and a piece of netherrack.

Another terrain image, but from another angle.

Close-up of stone, grass, and dirt.

Same as above, but with a redstone signal.

An iron double door, a wooden double door, and a bed.

    All the various ores.

    All feedback is most welcome!

Nah, the server isn't still up. 1.3 broke it.

However, I've started making a V3, which I'm making on the Open Redstone Engineers (ORE) server. Hop on the server mc.openredstone.org, and do the command /pwarp mort96 to get to my plot - it's the huge stone thing in the sky ;)

That's very interesting. I will see what I can do when I'm done with a version 2 of the printer :)

V2 will by the way use cobble and stone gens and not require refilling instead of using stone and glass magazines.

    Hai thar everyone!

Just thought I'd share the game I made for Ludum Dare. It's a simple platformer, where you're a green box and have to jump up as far as possible.

    Here's my LD entry page.

It's written in JavaScript, using Canvas to render, so it supports all platforms, as long as there are web browesrs for that platform. Even tablets and phones. To steer on a tablet/phone, tilt your device. To steer on a machine with keyboard, A and D to move left and right, W or space to jump, S to go faster down, and P to pause.

    Server down?

About the time you posted that, my internet decided to stop working. A few minutes later, after a router restart, it was up again. Maybe you just happened to be unfortunat enough to check during precisely that time? Or maybe you just wrote the IP wrong ;)j

    Heya guys.
I thought it'd be fun to start a (hopefully) flamewar-less and serious discussion about what OS you think is the best.

Please keep it serious, and please focus on actual facts and little personal opinions. Also, please include sources whenever possible.

Okay, so let the discussion begin! :D

That is a fair point, we don't have to update. The only problem with that thugh is that there is no official way of getting previous jars, so you need to either save the jar files, or get them from a friend.

Point is, nobody is forcing you to use Bukkit, and when you use bukkit you should be aware that updates will make it incompatible. It's like using any other mod to the game and complaining that mojang broke it in an update, oh wait, people do that already.

The problem though is that the vanilla Minecraft server is so extremely horrible you cant use it for much more than hosting a pricate server with some friends. Luckily the API will fix this, but in fact, until we have an official plugin API, we are forced to use Bukkit or other 3rd party solutions.

I tried hosting a vanilla server for a while (couldn't use Bukkit because the server revolved around a mod which were not ported to Bukkit). Once the server got decently sized, I had to kill it off because of how horrible vanilla is.

Wow, quit whining. I like the rate of updates. Bukkit isn't even of Mojang's concern, so Bukkit could burn in hellfire for all Mojang could care probably, they aren't going to stop updating because you're flipping out because you can't use some features because you're too stubborn to leave Bukkit behind.

You know the Bukkit team is part of Mojan now right..?
