Why did you necro a thread from November 2010? This should be against the rules...

How about the Chu Ko Nu, the Chinese Repeating Crossbow? It could basically be the old bow: faster fire rate but shorter range and less damage. That's pretty true to what it is in real life.

    Quote from Abrogation

Off-Topic: The quote in your signature O_o
Anyway, On topic, I say they should only STICK on the cactus not destroy it. But Cactus destroying items is acceptable since Minecraft is not supposed to be realistic.

My quote is a meme that started on this forum from a thread like this about cacti destroying stuff.

Also, your logic doesn't make sense. Just because something is unrealistic doesn't mean it's good (if creepers always corrupted the map on explosion, it would be unrealistic and therefor good). More importantly, it just doesn't make sense that cacti would destroy items..... why would they?

Items are considered entity's, just like cows or players. The only way to fix this is to stop cacti from harming entity's, which would destroy your trap as well.

Not exactly. Note that arrows and damage potions, although they harm entities, cannot destroy items. Making an exception for cacti would not be difficult.

posted a message on Mob Armor?
    Quote from jpmrocks

So I was going through the cryptic files of the Minecraft Wiki and learned that zombies used to wear armor. So, why should mobs still have cosmetic armor? Zombies can randomly have chest-plates and helmets of iron, skeletons can have caps and chest-plates of leather, and maybe zombie pig men can have golden chest-plates and helmets? This would be for cosmetic purposes, a little pizzaz for running from hordes of monsters.

Jpmr :Diamond: :Flint and Steel: s

    Update:
Since mobs now drop armor pieces, this could go real well with making logic of their new drops. Like the ZPM and gold helmets. Out of the yin yang they just drop gold armor!

Zombies actually do have armor, but it is not visible. They take less damage than other mobs do.

I think the zombies should wear armor about as rarely as they drop it, or even have the ones that wear armor be the ones who also drop it. Zombies are just really weak. Also, how about making them not take as much knockback so you can't punch them to death?

It doesn't make sense for items to destroy to a cactus. How does that make sense at all? If I get shot by a skeleton when I'm next to a cactus, I lose my stuff.

so, instead of going cross eye and focusing ones right eye on the the left image and vice versa, you are saying to focus right eye on right image and left on left? or...?

It's hard to explain. I think that's what you do. When you look at it normally, you are actually focusing on the center. Your eyes are very slightly crossed. You have to uncross them completely. It sounds hard to do, but it only takes one successful attempt to get it down. I only had to try about 6 times to get it right.

I wish animals would just spawn in lit grass again. They spawn so rarely now that they always go pretty much extinct quickly. Farming can work if you constantly breed them, but if you leave them unattended for a few weeks, they all disappear or somehow escape or die.

    Quote from XinwxHleak

Maybe have pumpkins enchantable, and only them able to get an enchantment to give this, but at a low rate so it isn't really OP.

Well, the reasons I was hoping it would not be OP were that
    1. You have a pumpkin blur, making it hard to see. You can cheat to get rid of it, but you can also cheat to be invincible...
    2. You can't wear a helmet when you are doing this, so you lose some protection.

Either one or the other, pumpkin or enchantment, but probably not both.
Invisibility could be an enchantment providing actual invisibility, though.

An invisibility armor enchantment? Wouldn't that be really overpowered? Maybe a potion would work.

    Quote from Badprenup

An interesting idea, but wouldn't crossing your eyes that long cause incredible amounts of eye strain?

Yes, it does. I recommend "parallel eyes", the exact opposite (focus on infinity). It achieves the same 3D effect without eye strain.

There is/was a mod that did this, but it is/was really annoying to deal with. It wasn't a normal JAR mod.
    Quote from gertrudesteinmcf

We have anaglyphs atm, that's all we really need. It's not that hard to get some red and cyan glasses.

    They suck really badly.
    Quote from CAN_Archer

While an interesting idea, I wouldn't want to go through so much pain with my eye's just to achieve a 3D effect.

    Ahem!

I consider myself lucky to own a pair of red and cyan 3D glasses.

The parallel 3D is the best. No glasses or anything needed, and it works without any eye strain. You focus your eyes on infinity, completely un-crossing them. It works as well as cross-eyed, which is PERFECTLY well.
    Quote from FireHawkDelta

I can easily cross my eyes whenever I want, but it causes strain. I don't use glassesless 3D, ever.

Try doing parallel. Focus on the image in the OP's signature, and try to get the dots to line up by UN-crossing your eyes completely. It works great, and it causes no strain at all.

The pumpkin can be worn on the head to make the player stealthier: endermen do not notice players wearing pumpkins. How about making pumpkins provide camouflage? If a player wears a pumpkin, it hides his player tag.

In addition, a helmet enchantment can be added to do the same thing (if you want to also have the protection of a helmet). Currently, the helmet enchantments aren't very useful, either providing a little more protection or, at best, giving the player more breathing time or mining speed underwater.
