Hell yes. There was a whole thread about it. How people were using it as a mob bait to take attention off of the player.
Once placed it would be lost (as in, you can't destroy and pick it up again).
A cooked version was suggested also, that was the same except it will heal hearts with each hit, until it finally wears out.
Also, Ham Palace FTW
I made some texture files for you if necessary:
16x16:
32x32:
64x64:
Beautiful! And with that image can we call the new item SPAM!? ;p
That would include modding the client, and I can't distribute modded clients, so no, sorry.
Maybe I am missing how your app works but couldn't you jsut set an interval to update the map every 'user defined' interval so it would keep making the time of day whatever they had selected..???
sorry. I cant help you. If you could direct me to the "0-chunk" thread, I would greatly appreciate it.

It's mentioned in the Mob spawning science thread.
I think Notch has said at some point (can't find it now) that he's planning to make some kind of map as a craftable item, it'd be a cool way to do it I think.
MonkeyX That would be awesome!
This kind of goes back to the talk about cheating earlier - there's currently no way for the server to check what mods the client is running, what version, and stop people connecting who aren't correctly modded.
MonkeyX This is exactly what we are lacking to both make things anti-cheat and truely custom mod friendly. Hopefully the Api will have some measures in place to do this kind of 2 way checking...
The new map is almost ready by the way, just trying to get my head around the patcher.
YAYYYYYY =) I could only imagine what a pain that must be. It took me 3 days to get my first class to recompile much less try and get just my code to inject into another already compiled class without messing things up.
On a side note I have had some success with hexing in certain changes into byte code and then recompiling from there.
The wider issue of cheating through client mods is interesting. I suspect at some point what will happen is there will be a flag on the server you can set to say "only pure, non-modded clients can connect to this" and then that will be how it is. Remains to be seen what happens when official mod support comes out.
I'm not sure if this is possible, but it would be nice for an option to disallow players running this to join SMP servers if the host doesn't want it.
Likely not possible for him to code this into his mod. But, the server side could very likely include a check for modified class files.....
This would require a compatible tattle-tale mod to be installed on both the client and the server.
Way OT I know. But, the client already as some sort of validation in place with the md5 mathcing files in META-INF. Couldn't we just add a class tot he server that would check for the presence and valid size of those files? If the client is using any modified classes then they of course will be lacking them in order for the mods to work. This would of course be a very strict no mods period for the client rule....
Ah, thank god. I was really upset when this mod got taken down. I'm very glad you were able to work out a patcher for it.
Anyway, now that your back in development mode, I'd like to re-introduce a past request. Can we get the mini-map to rotate with the player?
I kind of want this too. I'm not sure if it would be possible to make it rotate any less than 90 degrees though.
What I'd really like to see, is for the map to naturally have the top of it point north. I hate walking north while my red dot moves left on my minimap (even though it's actually the minimap moving to the right while my red dot stays still). I've considered putting an "N" on the left side of my map to remember it but my OCD says that north HAS to be up.
This! I don't care so much for the map rotating in real time as I do about it being orientated to where left of sun rise is up.
Welcome back, MrMessiah! I am glad you found a solution that makes you feel comfortable sharing your mods with us again!
any chance you can post a screenie of this? Am curious to see what block types are under, next to and above you, if any.
Added screenshots to the original image. The dirt scaffold isn't normally there - I just needed to get a good vantage point.
Thanks, I apologize for the slow reply. If it is happening at the same spot(s) each time then it could be that there is some corrupt block data at that location. I would try making a 1 block hill over that spot, a 1 or 2 block dip going past that spot or a small side track to avoid that spot. just got 2 blocks to the opposite side of your torch and 3-4 blocks long then back into your track. Hope any one of those ideas work.
Sadly, I have no idea what can cause such glitches in the game but that is what it appears to be. Could be that the 1m3 space there is just corrupted or some strange glitch due to that one blocks height over the next nearest block below on the ground. Or, maybe if you followed straight down under that block we would find a missing admenium(sp) block..
I would'nt upload the minimap if I were you xD
Notch obviously wanted it gone for one reason or another, Notch is a nice guy and I respect what rules he goes by, as should anyone here.
Aye, after going and hunting for the orig threads of those mods the only info available shows that the creater had pulled them. He left no other info I could see as to why or stating that he was instructed to.
*kicks self to start a thread asking specifily if we can modify and share class files or release apps/mods that modify these files....*
:ohmy.gif: Were they removed? That's crazy and incredibly lame tbh. Damn I wanted that mini map mod. I have the better grass one.
The maker pulled them, but I have the v.06 version of simple map if you would like it.[/quote]
I have the .07 version that I personally edited to fix the mistyped MC version 1.1.2 and the unchanged mod version from previous release that still shows .06.... >.<

Not sure we have the whole story but it seems (assumption from very limited info) that it was the 'user' that was being removed more so than the content....
I'm personally addicted to the hi res stuff but your pack holds very true tot he simplistic concept of Minecraft. When I first saw the individual blocks at start of post I did not think it would look like muhc but they all tile together amazingly well!
Yea, im not concerned about the texture packs, just the fact that we are using a program that may/may not be legit in terms of conditions to implement 128x/256x.
I dunno, im just gonna stay out of this one for a bit.
Sorry to see your custom texture go, m8. I can understand and respect your reasoning however.
We desperatly need to start a new thread and request verification of wether we are allowed to release modified class files.....
