At least half the people in this thread have no idea how Microsoft have handled past purchases. Research the history Halo before you comment. Minecraft 1.9 will be an Xbox exclusive, 2.0 will be an Xbox exclusive, the modding and server community will find out how very nice Mojang was and wish for the good old days.
So yes this would be an improvement if you are an Xbox fan boy, for everyone else releases will be delayed 5 years if they arrive at all. I've followed Microsoft's heavy hand for 20 years. Few people know that Windows had code specifically inserted in it to cause the Netscape browser to crash randomly when you passed your cursor over a specific location n the scroll bar, a few lawyers even had a clue what the presented evidence meant. And none of you care about the Netscape browser because Microsoft efficiently killed it. Future generations will not care that MInecraft is an Xbox exclusive because for them it always was.

Only mirrored links for version 7.1. Wanted to see if version 6 was faster then version 7 as even with a Radeon RX580 series card with 8 GB I can't play MC with most shaders. CPU is a Xeon X5677 @ 3.47 GHz.
Also looking for the older version just in case they work for me.

Most of the download links lead to a link shorter and no download, just flash malware.

New spawn area has been created. Warp signs are located in multiple places to make them easier to find.

Plots outside city walls are being phased out, use land claims to build your fortress, base, or house further away from city. The city and it's surroundings was too large and our system for plots was too complicated and confused too many players. Buildings inside city walls will be available soon for fixed price and not expandable. Owners of existing plots should contact an admin.

There are lots of game communities following the same type of EULA, but this will slow down MC and Mojang real fast since MC only reached where it is now because of the vast resources people put into it because they were able to spread the cost around to those willing and able to pay.
Just think what would happen if you used concepts from any of the following for anything and sold that thing: Star Trek, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Mickey Mouse, etc.
The one opening Mojang left open is that you can charge everyone, we all know how well that will work. I can't even make a server popular enough for more then 1 in 100 players to stay let alone pay, but I'm sure as long as I am willing to foot the bill it will be easier month by month as many servers close.

The EULA says "you must not:
Scratch means it can not be based on decompiled MC code, which includes all mods and add-on I have ever encountered. I can't see anyone doing documented clean-room reverse-engineering of Minecraft to write mods; however, a complete totally free open source alternative is possible, but look at the big lawsuits about BSD and Linux versus the official Unix.

Mojang can shutdown any "online" server (read up on server.properties for details).
Today's five hour outage was a perfect demonstration, regardless of whether it was intentional or not.
I found that Minecraft clients had no trouble connecting to the Mojang authentication servers, both the vanilla client and the TechnicLauncher client. On top of that for the first four hours the Mojang page showed nice green dots for every service. Strangely enough players could not connect to Minecraft servers because those servers could not connect to Mojang's authentication servers. The official word is that this had nothing to do with the EULA, but this would not be the first time a company tipped it's hand accidentally prior to an event. If Mojang has anything up their sleeve I doubt they will start testing the software changes on precisely August 1.
The only way around today's effect is for a server to run in "offline" mode and use a secondary authentication such as a password plugin and/or an ip auth plugin (as long as your ip address does not change you are okay).
So today was a reminder that Mojang need not use legal means to enforce the EULA on server owners. And if you think you can sue Mojang for blocking players from connecting to your server you got your head in the sand.

1) yes you can use this map on a Mac, I downloaded both types. I had better luck with the creative map with Minecraft 1.7.9.
2) Yes the author said you can use the map on your server:
Server Owners:
I get alot of requests from people about wanting to use this City on there servers.
Feel free to use this City on your server and even edit or change it as much as like!
Just show a bit of respect, don't try and claim the project as your own and if possible, give credit by either including my name somewhere or a link to the project so others may find it if they wish.
The city part of Oddworld's Medieval Map V4 is the center piece of a new server "Pirates and Cutthroats", pirates.mcph.co http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/2742575-pirates-and-cutthroats/. It is a Medieval Pirate based server, which means PVP (outside the city), Raiding (sell the goods in the city), Farming (when you can't find anyone to raid), 70 unique ranks, and more.
