It should be under Games in your program menu, but due to an install4j bug it may have ended up under Other. If it isn't in the menu at all, you can start it from a terminal by executing /opt/worldpainter/worldpainter.
I'm having trouble installing the Linux version. I'm running Ubuntu 12.04. I first opened the Linux installer, and it showed a very long page full of symbols, but no download prompt or anything. I'm very new to Ubuntu, so I don't know if I'm supposed to know what to do with this or if it's a faulty link, but I couldn't find help on Google. Anyway, I then downloaded and installed the deb package with Ubuntu Software Center, which said it successfully installed, but it wasn't anywhere to be found on my computer. I searched with the dash home search function and checked the home folder and showed hidden folders, neither of which retrieved worldpainter. I have no other ideas at this point. Could a more experienced Linux user help me out?
I installed the latest version a few days ago. It is well and dandy, but it won't allow other pages to overlap it in Windows XP without clicking minimize. This would only be a minor annoyance, except that when exporting, I can't click minimize because of the loading box, so I can't do anything until the export is finished, which is often a very long time.
I'm in love with the program by the way, I've been using it very frequently for a number of months.
I remember the times when it was extremely hard to convince my parents about anything pertaining to video games. So I was confined to LEGO Racers for many years. I spent those years plotting and scheming, crafting the fine wording I'd use to convince my parents while trying to unlock all of the bricks you could put on your racing car. I remember being outside in the dreadful sunlight, when all of the sudden I became super motivated. I slapped my knees and told my brother I was finally going to ask my parents again. So I went inside and approached my father... He had his hands clasped and his head drawn back, snoring in a chair. So I lightly shook his arm and asked, "Daddy, can I play Runescape?" He opened his eyelids for a moment, and for a second I thought he'd remember how my mother didn't want me to play runescape, but then he said, "Sure." and went back to sleep.
After that day anytime I wanted to ask something to which the answer would usually be no, I would just ask my dad while he's half asleep.
I'm having trouble with the Forester Filter. I've tried several times, however I cannot produce trees with it. I first select an area large enough to fit the tree I have in mind. I set the options so that the tree would be smaller than the space I selected and press filter, and I can see the command console doing it's thing, but no tree appears. I save and go to Minecraft, and the tree doesn't appear there either.
I also tried to make a rather large tree, but MCedit became unresponsive and I had to close it. If someone could provide me a tutorial on how to properly use the feature, I would be delighted.
Thanks,
Mitchamaya
When I first started using Forester, I had the same problem. I seemed to have fixed it by selecting larger areas before applying the filter. Then when things were working, I thought there was still a problem. It seemed to be taking too long, and when I checked the process it showed not responding. But I then learned that Windows will always report not responding when Forester is doing anything other than a small job. Try selecting at least 80x80x64, do a smallish tree and see how long it takes.
If you're trying to get several or more nice isolated trees, bump up the tree count to 20 or so and select a really large area, like 400 x 400, and then give it a lot of time.
I would suggest playing with the input fields on single trees until you find the setting you like first.
Hey guys, MC Edit is a great tool, but if you are trying to place a lot of trees, you can try the stand-alone Python version. I'm told it's easy to use once you get used to it. http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=1022&t=219461
I've been trying to get a hold of CodeWarrior because I would LOVE to re-write Forester to properly work as a filter. So far he hasn't responded. All I can say is, he did a lot of work to try to make it compatible, but it looks like something broke somewhere along the way. I haven't been able to get it to work in MC Edit either. In the meantime, I know the standalone works.

I think this should be in 'A Place to Play' but no matter.
I am on a pay to play RP server called Tales of Mel-Lenxia, if you like roleplaying. It's a one time $10 fee, but you can get a guest pass to look around that lasts one week. In that time, most people donate the $10, and live happily ever after. If you can get over paying $10 to play on a server of a game that costs $10, join! But enough rambling about costs. The admins spent several months, way back into alpha building the map and coming up with a game plan for the greatest Minecraft RP server of all time. They have a sort of reputation system, currency, no cases of griefing ever, everything that is good. Watch the trailer too. :smile.gif:
I'm just a member there, the admins don't go telling people to post advertising everywhere. Anyway, food for thought! http://www.Mellenxia.clanservers.com if you'd like to sign up.

Thank you! I launched it from the terminal.

Especially considering you can actually have LEGO sets made in LDD shipped to your house. (For a very expensive price.)
I would recommend leaves be a solid color LEGO brick though.

But another browser worked.
Internet Explorer came to my rescue.
