    Great fun indeed, many thanks.

Spent the first day digging out sand from under the patch of grass (to act as a roof) and made nice tall sand walls surrounded by cacti. for protection while I waited for my saplings to grow (now safely within my confines). Within the safety of my sand walls, I then set about making a sturdier homestead and once done, demolished the outer sandy-shell. Excavating some more soil as I dug out basement level after basement level, my rooftop garden grew with trees a plenty providing me with plenty of firewood to make plenty of glass from the stockpiles of sand I had amassed.

Slowly I replaced my the floors of my basement levels with the glass to let as much light down as possible and also to provide me an excellent view of the trees on my rooftop. It was obvious as soon as a sapling sprouted as the light levels would suddenly drop. The only thing I was really missing now was metal, so I started digging a large mineshaft and eventually, plentiful glowing red veins indicated I was nearing the limit.

In between mining as I dug up even more soil, I slowly terraformed the sand covered island into a grassy pasture with an orchard, hen house and grazing areas for new found wildlife.

I now have everything I really need in good supply - particularly food from my arboretum and if tired of that, I have a nice little veranda for fishing. The only thing I've been unable to find anywhere on or beneath this island are reeds....

One day I'm sure a boat will sail passed to rescue me. Though knowing my luck it will only end up caught in high seas and shipwreck me somewhere else with nothing to my name again. I can only hope that if that were to happen, then it might be somewhere slightly larger where there might be more darker corners to hunt and explore.

Hmm, never seen it or heard of it. Maybe because I havent been doing any mining lately...

Is it every single time a block is mined or just occasionally (if so approx how often?)

I'm still waiting for it to happen again. I wasn't paying strict attention to relative positioning of the subsequently uncovered iron veins, but I have tunnelled directly into iron a couple of times without it happening. The times it has happened, iron has been 2 blocks to the side (as best as I can recall) hoping for it to happen again to test that theory.

In my long tunnel.. so far several hundred blocks long (about 10 below sea level) it has only happened on 4 blocks.

It is quite noticeable when it does happen, but its very quick. A small blue 'electricity spark' in the centre of the block as it crumbles away. Only happened on stone when mining with my pickaxe.

Hm... I never heard of THAT before! Can you upload a screen shot?

It would be impossibly hard to catch a screenshot of it.. the spark is a fraction of a second long - just as the block is mined away.. and it only happens very occasionally.. like I've seen it 4 times in the last hour and a half of mining. The iron has always been two blocks to the side when it has happened (after mining around where it happened) Catching it as a screenshot.. very very hard. I will try though.

I must say, I've never noticed it until today.. but while mining out a long subway tunnel, occasionally (as the block disappears) there is an electric spark. Every time this has happened so far, there has been an iron vein in very close proximity to the block that produced the sparks. (1-2 tiles away).

First time it happened (two blocks in a row of my tunnel), I started chipping away at all the surrounding tiles trying to get the effect to repeat, but doing so revealed iron and no more sparks. Same thing the next time and the two times since that.

Is this a coincidence? Is it just random? Does it always signify a vein? Is it something new?
