I just built my first PC now I want to open a minecraft server for about 8 - 12 friends ... I really dont think I know enough or really trust enough to just outright self host. So I wanna find a good dummy prof hosting site ... But I have some questions first ... like most
We want to play on the tekkit legends mod but a few of us also wanna try skyblock and some other mods out ... so do I need 2 servers? one as a dedicated just to tekkit and the other for s kyblocks or can I just use one and save each world and load from one to the other ... I dont know how that works?
also ive spent a few days researching but there's so much stuff out there so ill just sum up what I would like explained ... What should I look for to host a server like I said for tekkit legends 12 people all across the USA ...
what are the important things I need to know besides Ddos perfection ...
is dedicated IP important ..
how hard is it to load modS to a server
just tell me a good server host to use please ... the more I read the more lost I get
Hi, you can most certainly have a single server at one time. Basically you would have to do the following to change between two server types..
Load both server contents within the server and label both worlds differently ( for instance world for your Tekkit server and world1 for your SkyBlocks server)
Then load the respected server .jar and world by changing the control panel's settings each time.
Replies to your other questions are below
No a dedicated IP is only required if you wish to not have to enter the port at the end of the IP.
Modding a server is quite simple actually even more simpler when you wish to use a "off the shelf" modpack like Tekkit. If your still have issue though any quality providers (us included) would be happy to help set this up.
Finally for a Tekkit server you will generally wish to have around 2GB of RAM.
I hope these help you out, if you interested you could check us out by clicking our signature.
thanks do you know any other server company's that are better??
Hi, we are able to compete against them at hardware and pricing as well. We using the following for our Minecraft hosting
E3 1270v2 CPU
32GB DDR3 ECC RAM running at 1333Mhz
2x120GB SSDs on Software RAID 1
Finally 10TB of bandwidth @ 1Gbps
We also sell our hosting at an affordable $7/GB and not only include dedicated RAM but also dedicated SSD diskspace for even more stable performance at all times.

Hi, what we could offer you is as long as a billing cycle that you would be happy with. For instance maybe not worry about for a year, two, or etc. If your interested you could let us know over here on our website's contact form https://www.friendlytechserver.com/contactus.html of what your looking for and the term your looking to keep it for and then we will quote you for it. If you wish to pay for quite awhile we could possibly even get you a even better rate than what we normally charge monthly.
If that not do able comprise for you. Then we wish you luck on your search.
when I open minecraft, it says the server is a vanilla server and mods don't work on it. Can I fix this?
Hi, please explain what steps you taken from setting up the server to starting it up. Then we will be better able to help you figure out why the mods are not loading.
How can I make a server that I can put mods on, and once I have one, how can I actually install the mods on it? This would be a forge server, preferably, with mods, not plugins
Download either the respected Forge+Minecraft jars or the Modpack's respected server package
If your doing the whole thing yourself add your compatible mods to where your server contents will be along with the respected jars (put the jars at the base directory like if your path is /mydevice/server then put the jars there and then make a separate directory for the mods so the mods are in /mydevice/server/mods.) The latter follows the mod pack server package's instructions.
Then start the server by running the Forge jar file if your doing this yourself, if doing it the mod pack way they should have instructions for this as well.
Hello, my server is giving me a problem and I do not know the answer, I open the server (with forge, it is a server with mods) and closes at a time and leaves no crash-report, this is the latest logs :
"FAILED TO BIND TO PORT" part is the important bit of your Latest log. This error means..
You may of simply not port forwarded your computer
Something else is running on that port (25565)
If your renting this machine from a provider then it's their end. Tell them to ensure IP "25.86.159.205" is assigned to your machine, enabled, and that port 25565 is open both for UDP and TCP at Firewall.
Depending on the situation once the respected problem(s) are sorted out start up your server and it should boot all the way.
Specs of server computer:
-Lenovo 3000 N200-
Pentium Dual-Core T2390 (1.86Ghz)
4GB DDR2 RAM
160GB 5400RPM HDD
These are most likely your source of your lagging problem. You have three options
Option 1 Obtain better hardware such as..
Better CPU (one that is more modern that runs at around 3Ghz is ideal)
With that CPU couple it with DDR3 RAM
A new HDD running at 7,200RPM (for optimum performance have like a 64GB SSD and load the Minecraft server+OS from that)
Option 2 Pay for a hosting service, you might just be fine on 1GB on modern hosting hardware (If your interested in this option you can click my signature for details about our service).
Option 3 Reduce the current loads on the current hardware. Such things as limiting plugins (you could run a timing to see which ones are hogging resources and weed out the ones that seems too demanding for what it does), setting a limited world size (and let it pre generate with a plugin that does this), decreasing settings in the server.properties (such as view distance may helps). You may wish to double check on external processes to see if they are comprising resources as well (such as other programs on the device).
I hope these options help you on your way to having a lag free experience.
Hello I am looking for a host for a small family friendly server for around 5 to 8 players. I would also like the possibility of plug-ins. I don't have much experience in hosting so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hello, we at Friendly Tech Server deliver just that. We can indeed deliver you a server that can handle 5-8 players with plugins with ease. We will be happy to help you with setting up and getting plugins to work for you with our best efforts as well.
For your server our Dirt Plan at $7 per month (1GB RAM) will easily handle even a good numbers of plugins for this few of players.
If your not looking to load many crazy plugins then 512MB (1/2GB) will do you well and we can offer this as a custom order for $3.50 a month. To request this (or to contact us at any rates) feel free to drop us a line at [email protected] or submit a contact form right here https://www.friendlytechserver.com/contactus.html
OK. Maybe my technical linguistics aren't up to par for the current day. Dedicated I mean "no one else but those whom I authorize can access this server". Don't care if hardware resources are shared. I just want latency free performance for 10 people about the US.
Hi, we would be happy to provide the service indeed and would be also be willing to give you 8GB for $49 per month.
With our dedicated RAM and SSD storage you can be assured of quality performance at all times. Here what we use for our system
E3 1270v2 running at 3.5Ghz
32GB RAM running at 1333Mhz
2x120GB SSDs
1Gbps Uplink
Looking for an affordable solution for modded minecraft (Modsauce 2) that will allow 10 players the ability to play w/o latency issues. Would prefer Dallas (because central US), and would like the most economical solution possible.
Wouldn't mind...
SSD
8GB RAM
Xeon Quad or Octocore (or even high end opteron)
Let me know what you can get me!
Thanks!
Hi, are you just looking for a quality shared hosting service or are you looking for a fully dedicated server?
Okay, I understand your confusion. My computer, and only my computer, stopped connecting to the internet. I wandered through computer fililes until I decided to troubleshoot minecraft. Ever since then, minecraft is the only thing that works on my computer. I don't know how to fix it either. I use my move device to use the internet which is how I posted this. Sorry for the confusion!
If you cannot connect to the internet then you won't be able to even connect to the server to play on it. Why don't you check your Network Interface Card, Ethernet connection, and/or WiFi device attached to your computer? You may need to reinstall it's respected driver if the hardware itself is operating as it should.
Or are you implying that Minecraft is only thing that can connect to the internet on this computer?
We do support Visa Credit Cards via Paypal (You can use it as a guest if you do not wish to sign up for it and just use your Visa Credit Card like so).

You would most likely have do a manually daily "cleanup" of non payers by suspending their servers and deleting them.
