If I move A Nether Portal and relight it, will it still work?
~Robosheriff
If by work you mean connect to the same one in the Nether, it should if you don't move it too far. The rules governing Nether Gates are far more complicated than I care for, but if I remember correctly, the game connects to a portal within 128 block radius topside. This means that if you don't move it very far (128 blocks) it should still connect without creating a new portal. If you mean will it relight, yes it will. You can always check the wiki for more details (http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Minecraft_Wiki), or there is a topic on Nether Gate linking in the survival section somewhere.
I prefer stone for shovels, axes, and picks personally. I tend to invest all of my rarer resources into projects (currently building a railroad to the nearest village which is a fair distance away). Stone is too easy to get for me to resist using it.
if you're playing 1.2, clouds now cast shadows on the ground. If it's not a cloud, then it's probably a lighting glitch. Try destroying a block or reloading the map.if you're playing 1.2, clouds now cast shadows on the ground. If it's not a cloud, then it's probably a lighting glitch. Use normal pistons that are extended by default with gravel or sand on top forming the floor. When you retracted the pistons, the floor (and whomever is standing there) falls into a pit of lava, water, cacti, normal pit, etc. To reload just re-extend pistons and replace the gravel or sand.
Haven't tried pigmen farming for myself, but you can dig a giant pit and place snow golems (I don't think they melt in the nether) on a platform above the pit. The snow golems attack the pigmen, the pigmen chase the golems, the pigmen fall to their death.
No pics unfortunately. I reloaded the game and the thing disappeared. It shortly reappeared, but I reloaded again to be rid of it. Next time it happens I'll grab a pic.
So just downloaded the 12w08a snapshot and this big black shadow keeps appearing on the edge of a desert. It's fairly light on the edges and gets darker as you move towards the center like a real shadow. Any ideas?
