If the first then I don't think that's possible, copyrights and all that. But if it was just fire demons and other 'magical' spirits then that would be interesting.

And people who ask, or worse tell, a content creator to speed up their creative process really rub me the wrong way.

I am -all about- things that lurk beyond the known cosmos. What's the use of a horizon if you can't hurtle past it at breakneck speeds, besides? :V I eagerly await 1.2.

EDIT: Also, I have a suggestion for a further usage of the Seroconverter: a faux-beacon machine that vaporizes the essentia-mixed blood to spread a buff/debuff over an area. Maybe some Aer or Tempestas in there, who knows. Configurable width?

Aspects

I've been thinking of a pretty radical change here - removing compound aspects and maybe even reducing primals to just the 4 elemental aspects. Whoa there Azanor, what have you been smoking?!

Ok, me though process went like this: Firstly, having 48+ aspects adds a LOT of complexity. Originally that was fine because of the way research works and for the research side of things it is fine. However they translated over into essentia and suddenly players have 48+ different kinds of fluids to deal with - a lot of which is hardly ever used. Essentia's main reason for existing is infusion crafting and honestly while gathering so many different kinds of fluids is fine (and works) it isn't really necessary. The infusion crafting minigame can be changed and I already have a few thoughts in that direction.

There are other benefits like reducing the amount of storage space required, simplifying the tube code and maybe allowing tubes to work in the "old" way again. You can add other forms of complexity like the TC2 "tube gunk" mechanics - as essentia gets used for stuff some of it turns into flux that sticks around in the tubes - you need to either store it or pump it into the air (remember the old TC2 pollution stacks? ). To prevent people from just breaking tubes/tanks to get rid of it, flux could mean instant taint if spilt into the world like it used to.

Of course, while reducing the number of aspects is good from a complexity, coding and possibly gameplay point of view, it does remove a lot of stuff people like. Also, what about research? It is based around combining aspects.

Research

Firstly I was considering completely removing the scanning mechanic in its current form. The thaumometer could still remain and could be used to scan stuff, but NOT to gain research points. Research points will not be a thing anymore.

The research minigame could be replaced by one of two things:

1. The player selects a research from the thaumonomicon like they do now and get a research note. The note will have a description of what they are trying to research. For example: "You want to discover an alchemical source of heat and light powered by magic that will never go out.". The minigame will involve you guessing components (items and aspects) that could be used to make up this object. In this case you could try fire aspect, torches, glowstone and coal. The table might tell you how likely the components are to be correct and when you click the "Experiment" button it will roll a dice and might complete the research. Nothing is lost during this process... or maybe any incorrect items have a chance to be used up.
2. Exact same minigame as above, except the player goes in blind. You just guess stuff and hope to get something out of it.

Of course, not all research has recipes or components associated with them (like the node tapping and research mastery stuff). These could be move to a different kind of progression system since they do make sense as the thaumaturge getting better at what he does.

Is this minigame better than the current one? Not really. It does however mean that doing it for the second time will be incredibly easy. Also it does give interesting loot options - maybe you find a note in a chest that contains clues to certain types of research. Or you find broken versions of blocks and items that you can scan to determine what was used to make them.
