Aug 13, 2011Mikemc posted a message on Bethesda, Mojang & "Scrolls"I looked on Allgame.com and every listing of Bethesda's games were "ELDER SCROLLS" with the word "ELDER" in the title. Not a single game mentioned was "Scrolls" by itself. They could contest "Elder Scrolls" but saying a single word from the title would be the same as Microsoft sueing MICROprose, SOFTEx, and anything like that. Maybe Blizzard should sue for using the word "CRAFT", and all makers of 'Mahjong' should sue for the name 'Mojang'.Posted in: News
ALSO:
In a religious game called 'Catecheumen', you heal yourself by reading ancient scrolls with bible passages printed on them. A synonym for 'Ancient' is also 'Elder' so it would be true to say that the game contains 'elder scrolls'.
I guess Bethesda's just running out of money! - To post a comment, please login.

java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: forge/ITextureProvider
You forgot to install Forge. This line is calling a command that does not exist because the Forge is not around to look after it.
Squidman98:
What order are you installing TMI? I put it after Forge and it works for me.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
SOTMead & maybe iChun:
Why couldn't you have posted a polite response like the one on page 585 where you explained how Forge mods work? I posted an error I encountered but instead of helpfully trying to isolate the cause you basically told me to F* off :(. His resolution should be added to the OP under 'possible outcomes' or the FAQ.
The nicer thing to do here would have been to direct Dave to the line "Portal placement black/whitelist IDs" in the .properties file. If he's having trouble understanding it, telling him to shove off won't fix his issue.
When ALL_YOUR_BASE asked about skinning the Bacon Gun, you gave your thoughts - "Hex code, isn't it? #123abc?", and politely told him that he can find all his color needs on the internet.. instead of something like "Never heard of the internet?" like the tone you've been giving me. Then restcoser followed up with a thorough answer :).
I am aware that this mod is made by iChun but with the way you've been handling this discussion lead me to believe that you may have been part of the development team. "Your mod" was meant to be as general as "Customer Service" as something every mod/map/game designer should follow to maintain a content fanbase for their creation. Like how a 'Let's Play' doesn't necessarily mean that the viewers are in the room with you.
iChun has yet to respond to any of my concerns, apart from the audio question, so I figured that you are in the position to be speaking for his project. iChun may be very busy, but I do not believe that he cares that little about his fanbase.
Actually I'm just too god damn lazy to sift through 500+ pages to find it. If it is a common error, then it should be posted somewhere easy to find. In that same sense you (oh I'm sorry I mean ICHUN) could remove the installation tutorial video from the OP and instead follow your advice and just tell people to stop expecting others to do the work for them - If you can't install it on your own then that's too bad because we don't owe you a damn thing!

Customer Support doesn't specifically mean that you have to buy something. If you release a product and people are either having difficulties with or finding defects then the NICE GUY thing to do would be to address the issue so that it doesn't happen, or that your users (customers) are aware of it. How about if Mojang left in all the piston-crashing errors and told it's users to just F* off and go play Terraria? NO. They see what the problem is and fix it or post it somewhere everyone can see.
So then this issue DOES happen to other people. Shouldn't it be included in the FAQ with the other error questions?
Now here we are again. Instead of telling users to STFU and fix it yourself, you should be helping them, for at the very least, to show that you give a flying F* about the people who are using and promoting your mod. If the same error or problem is posted repeatedly throughout the thread, then direct the posters to the OP if their problem is listed there (if not then add it!), otherwise you just look like an A*hole.
And I did fix it myself, which is how I discovered that ModLoaderMP is not required for the Portalgun mod to function. Forge may require it for whatever other mods that require Forge but Portalgun isn't one of those.
I have read many of the posts here and on other mod pages, and the issue appears common - Problems installing a mod while other mods are also installed, or getting their installation procedures mixed up. Now, Portalgun is easy enough to install using the /mods/ method (my problem was due to a similarity with other downloaded content) however having to first install 4 other mods, in the correct order, as well as visiting their threads and dealing with their own support staff, can be a pain in the A*.
I can understand how after 500+ pages that you can get frustrated over the same questions so if you feel that you've had enough, and you feel that telling them to look elsewhere is the best action, then point them to my Youtube channel (Mikemc). This weekend I will upload a video explaining not only how to install mods but the methods that I use to see what's causing these problems and how to fix them. I will also answer questions when I can.

However I do not feel your level of customer support is very professional. Instead of ignoring an issue you should be looking at how that person arrived at their situation, and see what can be done so that it doesn't happen again.
Two things stated in the instructions -
ModLoaderMP is required - It is not required, at least not for Single Player, otherwise the FAQ needs to be updated concerning the included Multiplayer.
Place the folder in the /mods/ directory - It will also work if the second 'portalgun' folder's contents are copied directly into the .jar file.
Because these two are not mentioned in the FAQ (please show me if they are), someone like me could easily mistake your instructions as faulty. Heaven forbid there could be something wrong with your perfect, revolutionary mod and so someone like you, who believes that there is no other method, could assume that I am just another dumb kid trying to make their game kewler and ignore them for being too stupid to be modifying their game. However if you are not part of the development team, then perhaps it'd be best to leave the tech support to them.
Here's a question: If all I have to do is copy the 'portalgun' folder from the archive into the /mods/ directory, why can't it be left alone and simply read from the archive like many other ML mods? What is the big problem with reading an archive?

These installation instructions are wrong. Here is the order of things I installed:
Modloader
ModloaderMP
Audiomod
Forge (Forge over-wrote 6 files from MP)
Copied the Portalgun folder into /mods/ (I found this odd since these should be in a .zip archive)
Results: Freezes at "Done Updating" after login, before Mojang logo (I am using 1.2.3)
However if I instead skip ModloaderMP and copy the portal files straight into the jar file, everything works fine.

If a screenshot of a mob is OK, then fan art is definitely OK.
Anyhoo:
This is a cute picture an RL friend of mine drew for me about a Creeper who likes a human girl .

Anxiously awaiting the Vertical Health! Any possibility of condensing the Item bar to scroll the bar instead of the selection box? I mean have the Item Bar only 1 square in size, and the items scroll through it one at a time
