All AtmosMobs are unnecessary-- they are there to add decoration and flavor. Juvenile? I think it's juvenile to be disgusted by a natural part of life: death. You're more bothered about bones in a desert than slaughtering pigs and chickens with stone swords?

First of all, what's the point of carcasses? If it's only there to fill in the empty space in the desert, there's plenty of other mobs (see my previous post) that can do the job, are cooler, and are less gross.
Again, they are unnecessary, but there to add flavor and decoration. Vultures are not usually seen unless there's a fresh kill nearby, and since vultures spawn in the desert, why not have a rare (keyword: rare) spawn of a carcass that attracts three or four vultures? It's like the Minecraft fish that spawns under the mantaray -- it's unnecessary, it's a small addition, but it's realistic and interesting.

Secondly, why add carcasses when we have zombies, which are essentially walking cadavers that you can texture to look as grotesque (or not) as you want?
Zombies are different from carcasses. Zombies are powerful and alive (or at least undead) while carcasses are simply the remains of animals. While vultures picking at zombies would be a neat behavior, they'd get destroyed instantly and it wouldn't be the same feel, at all.

Oh, and they spawn in the desert, as do skeletons, so carcasses are unneeded in terms of drops. Just because it's been suggested before doesn't make it a good suggestion.
I'm saying that other people would like it, and support it-- just as you clearly do not. The fact is that if such a thing were to be implemented, it would be turned off with a single edit in a config file.
