This is an excellent tutorial! The explanations are great and the images are professional-looking! My only constructive criticism is that you didn't really touch on strongly vs. weakly powered blocks, which can be confusing.
They cross open gaps in their current state, and it looks weird. I don't like them at all, and I hope they are changed significantly before 1.8 comes out.
Do you think we'll get legitimate chairs in 1.8? I mean an actual furniture block that you can click on to sit in and can be placed right next to another one (which can't be done with signs and stairs). I hope they can fit that in with their fencepost-and-pressure-plate tables.
I made an underwater glass dome with a wooden house inside. I made a large pocket of TNT in a cave right next to a part of the dome. Not knowing how close I was, I detonated the TNT and it destroyed a large portion of the top of the dome. Many blocks of TNT were propelled outward, worsening the damage. The entire house was flooded, and I had to ditch the whole thing.
It really bothers me that we can't write in the books that we make. I wonder if the 1.8 update will allow us to write in books? It would improve mapping and would allow players to make logs and inventories in the game.
So we now know that rivers are coming in 1.8. If you look at the picture released by Notch (I would post it here, but I don't know how to), you can see that the riverbanks show signs of erosion in the way they slope downward. An older picture of a "ravine" also implies that a river has caused erosion. Will the the interruption of landforms (rise and fall in the terrain) by rivers and erosion cause features like fjords and canyons to appear in our worlds?

But why does everyone think I haven't bought the game? I don't understand what grounds that conclusion stands on.

I've already bought it. If I hadn't, how would I even have all those files (including META-INF).
