Pretty simple... it's a large hurricane that struck the Mid-Atlantic Coast of the U.S. in 2003 (Hurricane Isabel.)

    Nostalgia? LOL.

Bonfires fueled by driftwood, where young strangers would meet at night on our Mid-Atlantic beaches -- roasting marshmallows and hot dogs and perhaps making temporary girlfriends/boyfriends for our short vacations.

Clean, clear back-bay waters ("sounds" for some people) where one could catch two fish at once with a "flounder rig" vs. today when one will wait forever to catch one lousy fish. (Same goes for crabs, clams, etc.)

    The novelty of color television.

And last but not least, in more "recent" decades (the '70s and '80s) --- going to clubs, drinking, dancing, and meeting zillions of in-shape people face to face instead of today's internet full of flab and phonies.

    Quote from Mikko_blu

I graduate soon in june next year. Part of me just wants there to be some final day, and then to go home and just be like "It's over."
Another part of me wants to go to say i did. What should i do, and why?

I graduated high school in 1970 and had no plans to attend the ceremonies. When the father of one of my classmates (a neighbor) found out --- he said "you get your butt in gear now, because I'm taking you there!" We raced to the school in time for me to grab a cap and gown and I got in line for my diploma."

I thank him to this day --- something you'll only understand when older.

Not of any particular monetary value but I have a large "blow up" picture of a Cold War NORAD Regional Control Center console identical to the one I worked with back in the 1970s. I'd be glad to share it but I only have the hard copy. Perhaps I should get it on my computer somehow?

    Quote from itunes89

Well you really need to go outside at least 15 minuets a day. It really helps you be more happy. It's hard, I know I'm a programmer and a gamer. Try to walk your dog, run a few laps around your house.

I'm a retired computer analyst but when I was young -- the 1950s and 1960s -- it was more like 15 minutes inside and the rest outdoors. Perhaps it's just a coincidence but back then fat people were so rare, we considered them "freaks." Today it seems skinny people are freaks --- no?

    Intolerant people.

There's nothing inherently wrong with intolerance. It all depends on what one is intolerant of.

Are you tolerant of thieves, liars, murderers, child abusers, etc? I would hope not. I'm an American liberal but I cringe time and time again when I see so many false equivalencies rooted in "tolerance." I'm an atheist but I'm "tolerant" of Christianity because it's evolved to be mostly civilized. Ask me the same about Islam and you'd get a different answer.

The American fanaticism about "equality" is not only a myth, it's detrimental to progress.

I'm American and I do like American food (especially seafood) but I tell ya, Indian food is awfully darned good too (a cornucopia of flavors and very little fat to deal with.) Thai food is great too -- as long as ya don't actually go to Thailand to eat (even the "mild" dishes are hot as blazes. Perhaps it's the same with India but I've never been there.)

posted a message on Do you prefer grapes or bananas
I like both grapes and bananas but if allowed only one, I'd take the latter. Bananas don't excite the taste buds like grapes but they do a better job of filling one's belly, especially for a quick and simple breakfast. Furthermore, bananas help reduce the occurrence of "charlie horses," something I'm unfortunately prone to getting, especially when my legs are exposed overnight to my floor fan.

I put the mod in the coremods folder, loaded Minecraft... nothing. I put it in the regular mods folder and tried again... nothing. What am i doing wrong??

The instructions here tell us to drag and drop a file yet they give no indication where the file is or how to find it...huh? How frick'n difficult would it have been when creating the large and fancy OP to simply explain 1. Open the zip file; 2. look for a particular folder inside, 3. look for a particular file inside that folder, and 4. drag and drop THAT file into the coremods folder inside .minecraft?

And why all the other folders? What's their purpose? What are we to do; discard them? If so, why are they there in the first place? If all we need is just one folder then just give us THAT folder. Who knows, we might even be able to place it in MagicLauncher.

Mencken_Fan, here is unfinished mod support for Simple Ores.

Thank you for such a quick response. The ores and tools look great but I'm afraid I don't know what to do next; I don't understand the process.

What do you mean when you say "the mod support is "unfinished"? Are these new textures going to be added to your pack? Are you going to make a separate file to add to your pack? Am I supposed to create a file myself (and if so, how?)

Sorry that I know so little.... I'm just a player (not a modder) and I understand little about the mechanics of these things.

I don't know where I'm supposed to ask so I'll ask here; would you please consider adding "simple ores" mod to the pack? The simple ores adds just five ores to the game -- and nothing else.

This pack is awesome; and it would be extra terrific if the five ores used in the "simple ores" mod could be added. Not twenty, not ten, but just five ores --- and nothing else in the mod. (For such a great mod it's amazing how little texture support there is for it; I'm sure many would be thrilled if those ores could be included with this pack.)

Please consider this "small" request. Thank you.
