I voted 9/10 because months on, and I'm still playing on a fairly consistant basis. Not to mention that I'm not really a PC gamer, I prefer handhelds for the portability (not getting the pocket edition because this is one of the few games I'm not willing to sacrifice functionality and performance for portability), which must count for something. Hell, I've joined the forum as well! The reason I've not given this a perfect ten is that it's very buggy, still, and there's still a chance something will come along that will completely tear me away from this game. So, yeah, one of the best. At least that isn't likely to ever change.
I've found a precious few interesting formations while travelling. I like the fact that there can be huge expanses of flat land for building, and I bloody LOVE the giant tundras. But I will admit, I haven't seen much to make me gasp in awe like before. Usually I just scratch my head when I see a swamp blend up a mountain.
Read the chicken soup guide. I've yet to have a chicken jump out of the cauldron using this technique. Obviously, if someone finds a situation in which the chicken escapes (besides smacking it, of course), please let me know.
Can chickens breed in adjacent cauldrons...? Cause if that works then you could make a pretty efficient chicken coop.
That's a very good question. I found it's very difficult to set up two adjacent chicken cauldrons. If someone can test this and post results, I would be grateful.
It's been a long while, but problems in real life mean no Minecraft for two weeks...
Anyway, UPDATE: New tip: Doggy Dishes (or Wolfie Dishes, if you please). I could not recover the lost information from when my hard disk died, so I can't reupload the powered cauldron guide. But fret not, because the fact it's out of proportion with the other guides is really annoying that perfectionist part of my brain, so I'll be working on another one this weekend. Should be up in a couple of days.
By the way, should a mod be reading this, now that Minecraft has been officially released and cauldrons are still in, would this thread serve better in another subforum? Discussion, Creative Mode, Survival Mode... I'll leave it up to your discretion. Thank you.
I never give a plus to a comment, but I will for you op. Thank you for not making a bitchfest thread and actually making something useful and interesting. Well done guy.
OT: Basketball. Why have I never thought of this.
Also that powered cauldron is amazing.
Aw, thank you! I don't see any point in complaining about something as small as cauldrons not to be used in brewing. I think I read that Jeb made this decision because the system was too tedious and the brewing stand is straightforward. One of the fun things about Minecraft is playing with the blocks, anyway. Though, with luck, they may create an in-game use for cauldrons yet.
Also, thank you again to everyone who left kind comments and took the time to view this thread. I hope you've enjoyed it, and as always, feel free to contribute!
UPDATE: The chicken soup trick still works as of full release! Also a new design tip: Guillotines!
On a side note, to any mods who may read this, would it be possible to move this thread to something like Discussion? If/when 1.9 Discussion is locked, I just think it would be a shame to lose this thread... Thanking you in advance.
On another side note, I realise my guide of Gop88888's powered cauldron is off-scale and a bit wonky, and I apologise for that. I forgot to click the 'Do not resize' option on Imageshack. Unfortunately, my computer suffered a fatal error, and I'm waiting to see if I can recover my lost data. If so, I'll reupload.
I don't know if this would go in this thread, but I've made a topic on decorating with cauldrons. Just cauldrons. If anything, it may be worthwhile for the section on building a lavatory.
Took me longer to make the guide for Gop88888's redstone-powered cauldron due to sudden illness, but it's up now. I've also added a new tip: basketball. Yes, I know... Just read the updated OP.
guess the dumb mod didnt check the spoiler, it looks like a suggestion at first but if youd lose your lazyness and read more you would realize its just epic decoration ideas and i LOVE your toilet idea, totally using it, great job
Thank you! When the full release comes out, I hope a mod moves it to Creative Mode or even Survival Mode since there's a crafting recipe for cauldrons. But right now it's just a headache.
*edit: Yay, it's back! Thank you! Was it Neomydius? I saw your name browsing my topic. Thank you!
The difference between using the same seed in Creative and Survival is which way you face, so you may be a little disorientated if you do both. Anyway, can't have too many ocean seeds, so thanks.
*tip: when this gets moved to the Seeds Section, you're going to get some people demanding a screenshot.
