A sequel will not be released immediately but their may be more 'castaway' adventures on the way - stay tuned for some news coming very soon on a new project.
does anyone know any other maps like this one because I beat this one and looking for an other.

It took me 2-3 weeks at most to create Castaway Island. I've been working on the new map for nearly 5 months and i still have a hefty amount to do. Im currently waiting for some of the new snapshot elements to be implemented as i require them to continue progress.
I am confident, beyond a doubt, that my upcoming map will revolutionize how Minecraft maps are viewed, played and created. More information to come.

I am almost ready to announce the title of the sequel. It will follow in the same game play style however this time the entire map has been hand sculpted, from bedrock to sky level. Nothing is randomly generated and the entire map is so chockers full of story, real time events, content, treasure, secrets, scenery and special effects that fans of the original will be beside them self with the sheer scale. I cannot give much more information away at this point other then it has a sci-fi theme and is more story driven then the last map.
However, fans of the sandbox style approach that i work so hard to achieve will be happy to know that as usual... everything is optional and there is no right or wrong way to play it. Stay tuned for more information in the next few weeks.
I'm having a great time exploring this map with my son (1upwrangler on youtube). I put the link under let's play. It's such a well thought out map that grabs your interest the first moment you play. Looking forward to seeing where this rabbit hole leads. Thank you so much.

There is a server download of the map. I wouldn't use the single player version for the sever because it's smaller than the multiplayer version I believe. The multiplayer allows all the players to go do there kind of own thing and so that the island(s) aren't cramped like it would be if you use the single player for a server.
The ONLY difference between the server and the single player versions is the start. The single player features an interactive introduction. Due to the way servers spawn in players however it will not work on a server.
You can still use the single player version on a server though, you will just need to mode shift and fly up into the aircraft manually to start it. Detailed instructions on how to do all this can be found in the main post.
I am working on a way to allow for server spawning within the interactive introduction on the next map. I know its taking awhile but im waiting for a stable version of minecraft to come out before i go putting allot of the nuts and bolts in.

Guys, i sincerely apologize for the lack of support. I've recently switched jobs, locations and lifestyles. I've also upgraded computers to something with allot more punch.
I heard on the radio today about the mega-upload incident and it only just dawned on me that my uploads where hosted there. I made backups on my external HDD fortunately but ill have to sift through them for the most updated versions. Please be patient while i work on new upload links and truly apologize for the lack of support and delayed responses. I hope you all understand and there's no hard feelings!

This is a fantastic map. I'm pretty sure I'll be playing this for a while. Works fine for me on 1.0. And it took me 1 minute to download via megaupload so don't blame the uploader for your garbage connections. Though, a mediafire link would probably be nice for people who do nothing but complain. Im also rather busy working on the next map in the Castaway series, One man can only do so much so im having to prioritize where my time is spent.
Castaway was one of my favorite movies, and I really like this map, especially Boris...I think It helps you to get into it. I really grew attached to him, and became proud of the new life I'd created since that crash. Anyway, I've completed some medium quests and hard challenges(really liked the trade boat), and I noticed I hadn't build the memorial yet. I was kind of glad, since I'd become immersed in the narrative and I had the resources to build more than a simple wooden cross in the sand.
I used stone bricks from the trade ship(along with some made from stone taken from the mountain on castaway island, and smelted with lava from the lava cavern, in a furnace and crafting table facing towards the sunset, on the castaway cove(another completed objective).
On the left, a wall with a message, and on the right, a willow sapling, and in the middle, a fountain made with the reward from the first quest I did.
Here's a picture, with a closeup of the wall. Anyway, like I said, I got immersed in the narrative; you did an extraordinary job. Thank you for making this map.

What a beautiful memorial. Its so interesting to see how many different ways there are to play this. Some people get right into it and just loose themself. Others take on a less serious approch.

I feel ive found a small gem with Castaway Island but my delivery was rushed and it was a spontaneous creation.
The next map will be much more planned and deliberate in design. Also, allot of people complained that it wasnt really a survival map as reasources are plentiful...
