    posted a message on Need a mod for increasing entity render distance

    I'm looking for a mod that makes entities, specifically mobs, render farther away. It needs to be for 1.8+ and multiplayer compatible. Thanks for any help I can get!

    posted a message on 1.8 TUTORIAL - Alternate textures and custom models

    I've tried it with 1.8 and 1.8.3 on multiple computers.

    The melons should have four colors of masks (it's an in-joke, don't ask).

    The grass should have the numerals 1, 2, & 3.

    I tried again on grass following the tutorial exactly, and it didn't work. I see nothing out of the ordinary in the launcher log.

    posted a message on 1.8 TUTORIAL - Alternate textures and custom models
    Only the first option in my list of variants is appearing ingame

    {
    "variants": {
    "normal": [
    { "model": "melon/melon1" },
    { "model": "melon/melon2" },
    { "model": "melon/melon3" },
    { "model": "melon/melon4" }
    ]
    }
    }

    Each variant works when it is first in the list, and I do have Alternate Blocks enabled

    Press Ctrl+Shift+Escape to bring up the task manager. Find and select the Magic Launcher in the Applications tab on Windows XP/7 or the Processes tab on 8, and then click the End Task button.

    If someone doesn't know what a creeper is, then that is probably the least of their worries. Making tools and just holding the mouse button instead of clicking to break blocks aren't explained either.

    Quote from Phierb

    The problem is that they're spawning on the tracks. (Is that even possible?)

    They may still spawn there, but they will walk off the first time they move and won't walk back on. It would be less likely for them to be on the track when a minecart comes through.

    If you make the tunnel where the track is 3 wide instead of 1, the pigmen won't walk onto the track. As of 1.5 no mobs will walk onto rails unless pursuing the player.

    Quote from Blizzard498

    Totally Disregard minecarts and pig's purposes.

    Minecarts are a more structured form of transportation. They have to stay on rails that you've placed beforehand, but are useful for moving large amounts of items/mobs. Pigs don't really have a practical purpose; they are more for fun than transportation.

    What if I don't want it in the basegame? Huh?

    A lot of other people do. You don't have to use them.
    Quote from DocBrown2015

    Sure...! I like some of the new implementations.
    The problem is the insane amount of bugs. I just wish the dev team took more time to update them.

    1.6.2 will be out soon with a lot of bug fixes, But I doubt anyone would complain if 1.7 was the Bugfix Update.

    I think everyone is over-reacting. Most people already have a webcam and microphone on their computer; phones have cameras, microphones, and GPS. No one has issues with those.

    posted a message on Minecraft Vanilla Server Question
    It's doubtful. The mod (BukkitForge) only for Forge multiplayer servers. A LAN server is run through the singleplayer part of the game and cannot use server mods. You can use singleplayer mods, though, but all the clients that connect to you will also need to install all the mods.

    posted a message on Graphical Flashing
    I had the same issue for a while. I read somewhere that Nvidia's Geforce series is too fast for Minecraft-and only Minecraft, other games don't have this problem-and it causes a disconnect between the refresh rate of the GUI and the world. Optifine didn't work. I read that disabling anisotropic filtering globally from the Nvidia control panel can fix it, but it didn't work for me.

    I managed to fix it by completely deleting my .minecraft folder and Minecraft.exe and redownloading from minecraft.net. I have no idea how that worked, but the flashing has completely stopped.

    Sorry I didn't state this before but I don't want anyone but my friends to join that's why I'm using a server.

    Edit: I could just shutdown their computer every time they join (sarcasm)

    Unless there are other people playing Minecraft in your school, there shouldn't be anyone else joining. And /ban works in LAN worlds for anyone who does join uninvited.

    Quote from Prowler_1000

    I don't know why I am doing or saying this but I use a USB.

    Where you are running it from doesn't make any difference.

    posted a message on will this work
    I don't know for sure, but at least some should. A lot of the Mo' Creatures mobs are limited to certain biomes and won't spawn in the new biomes, but the water mobs, the monsters, and at least a few of the animals should spawn everywhere.
    Either way, there probably won't be any conflicts between the mods, and if there are, you can always uninstall Mo' Creatures.

    posted a message on Big Question, PC Minecraft Noob.
    1. Don't go to servers you find in YouTube comments. Ever.
    2. Minecraft is fun in both singleplayer and multiplayer.
    3. Very few servers charge. The best ones are free.
    4. Singlepllayer includes everything that multiplayer has, except other people. Mods are also fun, both in singleplayer and multiplayer.
    5. There are servers that provide all kinds of gameplay types.
    6. The controls on the PC are a lot better. The PC version is a lot more fleshed out; the Xbox version is still lacking a lot of features. Multiplayer on PC is a lot better because it is not split screen, and you meet a lot of new people. It is not directly compatable with game pads, but there are programs that will allow you to bind keyboard keys to buttons on a game pad.

    I did a quick Google search and found this program for using an Xbox controller:

    Also, here is a server suggestion:

    By the way, only the default skin is called Steve?. And it's Steve?, with the '?' not Steve. The player is called exactly that: the player.
