Minecraft is a sandbox game why force someone to play on hard? Why not let someone build when they want to and then later go spelunking when they want to? Why get mad at someone's play style? Play the game how you want to play it! Be happy you did what you wanted the way you wanted to. Some people don't find minecraft's repetitive combat fun or challenging why force them to take part in it?
Also on a another note why are you worrying about achievements? Achievements are meant to reward players for accomplishing a hard task. Whether or someone else gets an achievement illegitimately shouldn't lessen the satisfaction YOU get from accomplishing a task with YOUR hard work because the satisfaction is going to come from putting time and effort into the achievement not doing it just because other people haven't.
Just my 2 cents either way have fun with the game, relax, and enjoy minecraft for the type of game it is
First off I want to say that I searched this section for help on this and didn't find any threads that seemed to help me.
So after reading this little bit on minecraftwiki "The Field Block requires water at any level. Water one block above, below, or the same height as the crop will work." So to make my farm look better and to be more space efficient I decide I will put water under my dirt blocks but for some reason it didn't work. My dirt blocks wouldn't hydrate.
Then after looking around I saw a thread on farming and one poster said you need infinite spring blocks under the dirt otherwise this technique won't work. So I tried that and no success.
So am I doing something wrong or does putting water underneath just not work?
Here are some pictures so you can see what I tried with infinite spring blocks
[EDIT] Yes i know you need to right click and till the dirt block. Unfortunately that is not my problem
