Mar 26, 2014MaxSinister posted a message on Minecraft No Longer Officially Working With Oculus RiftI wouldn't want to be involved with anything that facebook would ultimately usurp complete creative control of and profitize with targetted ad revenue through the exploitation of users' private information and usage habits either. Avoiding it like the plague should be the default position of anybody who values the legitimacy of their project and its end users' right to privacy.Posted in: News

Mar 2, 2014MaxSinister posted a message on Minecraft Movie? It will probably go something like this: Live-action Steve (probably played by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson) ends up on a boat, through some contrived story, which ultimately crashes and he wakes up as a 3D animated character in a really nicely rendered version of a Minecraft world. He will do all the general stuff: making tools, fighting mobs, building a house, farming, and exploring. Probably not a lot of mining, unless there is a separate montage or a musical-esque song about mining to make it more interesting, and ending climatically with finding his first diamond. They'll probably make him an electrician or engineer in real life, but still have him hurt himself accidentally, several times while he figures out how redstone works just to inject some over-the-top slapstick humor into the mix. Then he meets villagers, which all look a little different, have their own personalities, and exist in male and female variants. He asks them how to get back to the real world, they tell him about the Ender Dragon, etc. He probably becomes the village redstoner, and helps turn it into a large, bustling metropolis in yet another montage sequence. But no matter how successful he is, he still longs to be home with his family. Eventually, he will seek out a witch, who will be the one that creates a portal for him, and sends him to the Nether to get blaze powder. A shadowy figure will probably be following him throughout the whole movie, and will be revealed to be Herobrine when he is confronted by the Wither, which won't require any collecting of skulls or construction, but just exist as the 'boss' of the Nether. Herobrine will fight the Wither while Steve escapes. Overall there will be lots of action and goofy humor to make kids happy, some of which will have double meanings which will make the adults who don't know anything about Minecraft but take their kids to see it happy as well. When he finally gets to the End, the Ender Dragon won't be hostile, but act more as an intelligent, omnipotent, god-like creature which grants his wish to return home. And Live-action Steve wakes up in a hospital room, having been in a coma for only a few weeks. His family will be there. The End. Except... In the last scene an extremely realistic-looking Enderman is standing outside the hospital window looking inside, leaving it open for a sequel. It will get rave reviews, but there will never be a sequel no matter how much people beg for it. It will be remade in the year 2042, and even though the animation quality will be 10 times better, people will say that it's nowhere near as good as the original.Posted in: News

Jan 16, 2014MaxSinister posted a message on Snapshot 14w03a Ready for Testing!Anybody else having this problem? My new skin worked fine until I disabled the hat/jacket/sleeves/legs (in the new skin customization menu) to check if the layer underneath looked right, but when I re-enabled the top layers they showed up as transparent. I know they're there because there is an ugly edge all around the area - similar to when a block is highlighted - where the top layers are supposed to be.Posted in: News

Jan 16, 2014MaxSinister posted a message on Snapshot 14w03a Ready for Testing!Asymmetrical skin design woo-hoo! And jackets?! I don't know what they are but I want one. I already have an idea to add a removable quiver on my back, with a chest-strap around the front, by making a jacket mostly transparent - that is, if it is in fact an editable area around the torso, similar to they way the hat works on the head.Posted in: News

Jan 9, 2014MaxSinister posted a message on Snapshot 14w02a Ready For Testing! YAY!The new stone types are so ugly. And recipes for mossy and chiseled stone bricks... but not for moss stone, and still no moss stone slabs or stairs?! Otherwise, great job. Stacking doors only makes sense and the slime blocks are awesome. Also glad to see Lapis get another use. I need to play around with the new enchantment mechanics and the new villagers some more, but I'm digging it so far.Posted in: News

Thank you.
Very much.
You are a genius.
I will make you something for your Signature if you want me to.
Once again,
thank you.
You are welcome, but no thanks is necessary. And...
Here are some other spawner data tags that you might find interesting too.
{MaxSpawnDelay} Used to set variable time range (default 800)
{MinSpawnDelay} Used to set variable time range (default 200)
{Delay} Current delay time (will start randomly between the range set by max and min delay, and count down to spawn)
{MaxNearbyEntities} Number of mobs in range that will cause spawner to stop spawning (default 6)
{RequiredPlayerRange} Range at which a player will trigger the countdown to start (default 16)
{SpawnCount} Number of Mobs will spawn between 1 and n (n is the number you set, default 4)
{SpawnRange} Radius that Mobs can spawn around the northwest corner of the spawner (default 4)
Additionally there is a {Powered} data tag specifically for Creepers that governs whether they are normal (default 0) or Charged Creepers (1) and a {SkeletonType} tag for normal (default 0) and Wither Skeletons (1) but I haven't figured out exactly how to implement these yet. -

Sep 10, 2013MaxSinister posted a message on 13w36a Snapshot Ready for Testing! Is it just me, or do pressure plates and buttons have an extra tick (or half-tick) of delay between the time they are triggered and the time that they become inactive again? I'm not complaining. I think it's great. No more iron doors closing on me before I can squeeze throughPosted in: News

Sep 8, 2013MaxSinister posted a message on 13w36a Snapshot Ready for Testing!I'm loving the mega taiga. Have been able to gather almost 3 full double-chests of mossy cobble from a single instance of the biome. I also noticed that generated lakes and surface lava lakes are significantly more frequent than in other biomes. The lava started a forest fire that became quite large and spread quickly even though it rained nearly the entire time that it burned (two days). Mossy cobble deposits also spawn in water and lava. Also, mushrooms can be grown in direct sunlight on podzol. So it's like mycelium but it doesn't spread. Also, cows, pigs, sheep, chickens, and sugar cane all seem to spawn there, so it would be be absolutely possible to survive and thrive in a Mega Taiga superflat world easily and indefinitely, so I came up with a basic preset to share too:Posted in: News

Sep 6, 2013MaxSinister posted a message on 13w36a Snapshot Ready for Testing!Clicking on the "super secret setting" button now seems to trigger random sound effects. And rapidly clicking it creates a droning amalgamation of random sounds peaked with roars and screeches that is actually pretty darned creepy if you keep it going longer than about 20 seconds.Posted in: News

Sep 5, 2013MaxSinister posted a message on 13w36a Snapshot Ready for Testing!Clown Fish seems to tame ocelots after a single attempt. At least they do in creative. Also - Watermelons grow wild in Jungles now! Woo-hoo! Savanna and Gravel Beaches are back too! Now, how about that long-lost pre-1.8 "ice desert" biome... maybe throw down some code for igloo villages and/or snow pyramids too. Just a thought.Posted in: News

No luck yet? Don't sweat it, bro. I'm sorry for being so overly-specific in the requirements. Such a world is probably an impossibility within the generation algorithm. A seed with just the basic biome layout that I described would be more than appreciated. Don't even worry about all the extra crap.

I've been manually searching for a seed that matches this criteria for months. Hope you can find one, and much thanks in advance.

Also, I'm just wondering, does anyone know if worlds generated with the default 'customized' settings are the same as generating a world with the original 'default' generation setting? I'm curious to know if there are really only 7 dungeons on a standard, randomly generated Minecraft world. That seems really low. Or is that 7 dungeons within a specific-sized, repeating volume?

I just got added too, but I think the server must be restarted before any new additions to the whitelist take effect. I'm just going to keep checking if I can login every few hours. So, don't worry, it will be 24 hours at the very most, and probably a lot less.

EDIT: Also, wild skeleton/undead horses would need to be made tamable, and tame horses should retain their 'tamed' status to keep their equipped saddle after being turned undead as well.

works in 1.7.5, default world generation
Area around spawn is mostly plains, desert, and savanna.
Some forests, extreme hills, swamp, jungle and mesa.
There is also a nearby mushroom island at -460, 1250.
Many of the desert temples are partially buried, but most have at least 1 open entrance if you look around.
Also, there are two swamps due west of spawn and both contain witch huts.

Loot count: 22 diamonds, 12 emeralds, 2 stacks of iron, 4 stacks of gold, 2 stacks of TNT, 6 obsidian, 2 full suits of iron armor + extra boots and chestplates, a couple of iron swords and pickaxes, 13 saddles, 2 diamond horse armor, gold horse armor, iron horse armor, 2 stacks of books (from village libraries), 1 stack of chests, 5 stacks of bones, 4 stacks of rotten flesh, 3 enchanted books (Luck of The Sea III; Efficiency III/Power III/Fire Aspect II; Luck of The Sea II/Respiration II), and some apples and some bread. Not sure how much redstone, string, arrows, dispensers and pistons I could have scavenged from the 4 or 5 jungle temples, but I didn't even bother with it. Although I probably will when I get around to playing in survival mode.

Works in 1.7.5. Default world generation.
Village is half in a savanna, half in a plains biome, and has a blacksmith
Pyramid is only 20 blocks away
4 diamonds, diamond horse armor, and some easy gold and iron
Small ravine is right at the edge of the village
Mining southwest and downward from southwestern end of ravine leads to large cave system
Cave system contains at least one double-ravine, down to layer 14
Kind of a cool place to start. Haven't done much exploring yet
