posted a message on Cannot connect online and cannot kill javaw.exe process
Hello, I have been having a problem with Minecraft for some time now, hoping that the latest java updates would fix the problem. They have not. My problem is I can play single player perfectly fine, but when I try to connect to an online server (any server) it will get stuck at connecting to server. If I back out to the main menu and try again, Minecraft freezes.

Now this is where it gets weird. Once I go back to the main menu or exit, I will have a permanent javaw.exe process running that will not close. I cannot even kill the process by ending the process or ending the process tree. It just sits there taking up resources. I have had around 4 javaw.exe processes open and unable to close any of them. If I play single player, everything is normal and javaw.exe closes as it should. I cannot find any solutions online or any fix to this problem.

I hope this problem is not too unique that I am unable to play Minecraft online.

    Thank you for the help.

Okay, I've tried my hardest to diagnose the issue. And I don't see what could be causing it, it's fine for most users, so it looks like you are the victim of some sort of uncommon Java bug, try contacting them.

    Sorry I couldn't help.

I created an account just to reply to this. I am having the exact same problem. These problems, for me are repeatable. javaw.exe is not closing. It will not connect to any multiplayer server. After I click cancel and go to the main menu and click multiplayer again, minecraft freezes. the javaw.exe will not close even if I kill the process. I cannot change my skin, or it is very inconsistent about changing the skin (I don't know if this is related). I can still play single player, but not multiplayer and the process still uses memory. I hope this gets resolved!
