The spirit of Thomas watches over us and provides us with good fortune. A shrine to Thomas ensures that a home will be protected from evil and misfortune.
I made a trench with cacti placed every other block in the bottom and filled the spaces between cacti blocks with dirt. The trench gradually slopes down until it ends in a stone structure. At the beginning of the trench, I made a small hole I can put a block of water into, then the water washes along the trench and pushes the items towards the stone structure, which blocks mobs from going through and allows items to collect in a holding area. It's a lot easier to build than a drowning trap and works pretty well.
EDIT: And I don't have to deal with watching innocent sheep drown D:
Post a video please?
I'd have to reinstall fraps again, but sure, I'll try to get one up soon.

New challenge idea: you cannot use the extra inventory spots that come up when you press I. You only get the 9 slots to hold/store items on you. Everything else must be placed in chests/on the ground. Any item which goes into your extended inventory is "lost" and you cannot use it.
I would skip using the glass, as it's quite a waste of coal and time to get that much glass. If you wanted to be secure while going down, make a minecart track all the way to the bottom.

I can never find enough lava to do that.
But I guess I would only need 4 blocks. Make a lava "Mana pool" that will give me infinite...
I think the ability to pillar should be removed. It makes walls even more useless than they already are. We need walls that actually serve their intended purpose...
How would you remove it without making building stuff a pain in the ass?

If you made a wall that went up to the sky limit, could they still pillar over it?
Yes.
Ultimately, walls are for aesthetic purposes only. You CANNOT, and I repeat CANNOT keep somebody out of your base without majorly inconveniencing yourself.
