Still think Endermen need to be significantly harder to kill, though, just to live up to their reputation. -

I think there is a little too much humor going to be present in minecraft when 1.9 comes out. I don't believe Notch is taking it seriously what-so-ever and it's just going to kill my experience in minecraft, a game which had much potential and respect. Instead of convincing people to buy the game now, I'm telling them to wait because I don't feel Notch is at the right state of mind at the moment. Humor is appreciated but not so much as in to ruining the general quality of the game.
Jokes in Patch 1.9
Snow Golem
- Renamed to escalate the joke.
- Made only because he was "frustrated".
- Could of been working on another mob, like a baby animal.
- Doesn't fit the theme of minecraft at all.
NPCs
- Look graphically bad when compared to the rest of minecraft.
- Have a humorous look that makes you not even take a village seriously or the game for that matter.
- Jeb stated that they are not planning on changing their look anytime soon.
Baby Animals
- Have big heads.
Possible Solutions
Each point is a different solution.
Snow Golem
- Make it a snowman and keep it as a decoration.
- Have it only be available during the holidays.
- Make it look like an actual snow golem which will spawn naturally rather than being crafted.
NPCs
- Make them look like a regular villager.
- Have them look like pigmen, like they were supposed to be.
Baby Animals
- Shrink their heads.
Reminder: This Is Feedback
I actually like many of the new additions in patch 1.9. However, don't forget that Notch has asked us for feedback. So I don't feel it's right for anyone to attack or judge me for doing what was asked to be done. It's part of the processes of building up a game. Positive feedback doesn't help Notch polish the game.
Quote from Notch »We'll do a 1.9 pre-release today, and a full release after feedback. More Adventure Mode content will come in 1.10, we're splitting it up!
Seriousness Vs. Realism
The opposite of realistic, is not serious. No way, shape, or form, did I touch upon the topic of realism. However, that seems like a big topic among this thread and I get bashed for it. When I ask for a game to be serious, I ask for updates that will require some actual time and thought. For example, a snow golem was created due to Notch's frustration. Clearly he did it for fun, and there was no serious time or thought into it.
If you're going to add something into the game, it needs to be well thought out and reasonable. It may be humorous, but it shouldn't ruin the quality of the game. Above are three things that ruin the quality of the game. That does not mean that minecraft is garbage or that I hate the game.
Disagreeing: How To Not Respond
- Telling me this isn't my game.
- Telling me that this game is in beta.
- Insulting my thread.
- Insulting me.
- Telling me to not update my game.
- Implying that I talked about realism.
- Telling me to stop complaining.
- Telling me not to use these features.
Not only do these contribute nothing to my thread, they're just useless comments that have already been said. -

DoubleGale posted a message on My Thoughts on the New NetherIF YOU'RE NOT GONNA READ IT ALL, DON'T POST.Posted in: 1.0 Update Discussion
Note- Due to many misinterpretations due to me wording something badly, let me clear this up. I KNOW this is a pre-release. For one, items lacking use is one of my more minor complaints, and I comment on them not because they don't have a use in this prerelease, but because Notch has a habit of adding mob drops that are useless for multiple versions, (Ender Pearls, Slimeballs, ect.) and I'm afraid he's going to do this with these new drops.
In the halloween update, the Nether was introduced. It was doubtlessly one of the biggest and most exciting updates to the game... or so we thought. Upon reaching the Nether, it was found to be pointless. The only true purpose to going there was harvesting glowstone... which was, while cool, also pointless. Now we hear that the Nether is, for the first time, getting an update! Oh the excitement! Now let's examine the changes.
Let's start with the changes to the two existing mobs. Ghast fireballs now have a real sprite. Great, it looked very akward before. They now drop Ghast Tears, which are vital in being useless. Now, no offense to Notch, but I have no doubt that it's not below him to leave these useless for quite a while. Look at Ender Pearls, Rotten Flesh, ect. And he's done just the opposite, giving items purpose but making them not obtainable/so difficult to obtain it's not even worth it. (i.e. apples) So I think Notch really needs to get his priorities straight for once and follow through on a project, and actually make a use, even just one, for the new items before continuing on to new content. That aside, let's look at Zombie Pigmen's new drops. Rotten Flesh, and tiny peices of gold. In my honest opinion, he has given you even LESS reason to provoke them. It takes NINE of those gold peices to make a single ingot, not to mention gold is just about useless to begin with. And Rotten Flesh is still useless. The Porkchops were worth more, especially with the new hunger system!
Now let's look at the new mobs. First of all, the Fire Slimes. I'm relatively happy with these. They aren't just a blatant reskin, and really look cool. I do wish they had a slightly more threatening attack though, to make them more on par with the other mobs. Noone seems to have any complaint about Blazes, so they're fine I guess. I feel that Notch is trying to make the Nether much more dangerous, yet it still has one defining problem: There's no reason TO face that danger. Despite all this it still doesn't look like he's added a PURPOSE to the Nether.
Finally, let's examine Nether Castles. Nether Castles are a cool addition, and definatly make the Nether more worth exploring. However, they still have the one defining problem with this Nether update. They're dangerous, yet there's no good reason to explore them. You can get Nether Warts, which are, surprise, useless. Besides that, even rooms with Blaze spawners (ohgod) don't have any kind of chest or reward for the dangers. And knowing Notch, even if there was a chest he'd probably put 2 peices of coal and a wheat in it and think it's a fine reward.
I'm not trying to troll, or upset anyone. I'm only giving my honest thoughts on how Notch is missing the point of why we wanted a Nether update. Likewise, I don't want anyone trolling in my topic, or I'll report you. Either way, I'd love to see who else feels this way. -

One of the TWO. Survival and Creative. For the last time, Adventure mode is NOT being added. They are adding Adventure-esque stuff to survival, and adding adventure another time.

And the Slender man will basically be in Minecraft soon... So I think we're good...

Precisely what I thought.
I seriously hate this idea. I mean yes it obscures your vision, but come on, that still isn't very balanced. One of the more threatening mobs just got downgraded to an easy fix.
It also kinda takes the psychological fear of it away. It's like if you decide not the where the pumpkin because that would take the fun of the new mob away, your intentionally trying to expose yourself to the scary mob, and that's not very scary. It's like wanting to be startled, and walking to a place you KNOW someone is gonna jump out and scare you. You already knew, it probably wont scare you. Same thing with this.
Notch just took the coolest mob with one of the best ideas, and ruined it totally.
