Aug 12, 2012Marsalevsky posted a message on 12w32a Snapshot Ready for TestingIt'd be cool if you could place beacons on walls of -insert resource block here- to have a sideways, however limited, beacon.Posted in: News
Quote from Correen
Idea for adventure map makers. The beacon block can be used to mark objective locations. When a block is placed on top of the beacon block, the light stops protruding out. Use pistons to push a block on top of the beacon block to let the player know that they have completed the objective. You can use pistons to push the block out of the way too if you want a new objective. Use pressure plates or levers to mark whether or not the player has reached the objective or has completed the objective. Hook up the pressure plate or lever to the piston that controls the block that will go over the beacon block and boom. You can now make objective markers.
Or it could be used in a CTM map for a sort of beacon monument instead of using wools -
Jun 7, 2012Marsalevsky posted a message on Snapshot 12w23b Ready For TestingNow what'd be really cool is if one could place the End Portal Frame to where the "top" of the block is always facing you, sorta like a piston, for those, like me, who use them as decorations.Posted in: News

May 5, 2012Marsalevsky posted a message on Snapshot 12w18a Is Here For Testing!I see so many comments hating on the local server implementation, but quite recently, I saw comments begging for something along the lines of "something like in Pocket Edition, where you can invite people to play on your singleplayer world." I love how people ask for something then complain the second there's a little fault in it. First of all, beggars can't be choosers, be glad you got what was asked for. And second, It's not even a full release, they do snapshots for a reason - to allow us to point out the bugs for them to fix. But then when there's a snapshot with bugfixes, there's still at least one person who has to say "When will they actually add content?" Would you rather have an extremely buggy game that's barely playable due to the sheer amounts of bugs, or a streamlined/polished game that you can play without having to worry about something not working properly. The amounts of irony I see in forumspeople these days is unbelievable. Why don't you just appreciate what you have instead of whining like a small child because of something that's not even supposed to be perfect.Posted in: News

So what's the frequency of the dungeons? I popped the Dynamo into a world and flew around a bit, but haven't seen anything yet.Edit: Okay, yeah, it was an import problem on my end. I deleted the Dynamo and cleared all generated chunks (except around spawn), and now everything's working well. It's fantastic actually, I really love it. This kind of thing is exactly what I needed to continue playing Minecraft. Keep up the great work!
Edit 2: So I was reading through the thread, and you mentioned how the Dynamo looks for specific conditions in order to generate the different structures. I was thinking about that and a question came to mind. If I happened to somehow figure out the spawn requirements for a certain structure, would I be able to trick the Dynamo into spawning a specified structure by meeting the requirements? For example, you said for the tower, it first looks for Dark Oak leaves, and then for Redstone Ore at y=10. Could I then make a tower generate by finding a dark oak forest, then personally placing a block of Redstone Ore at y=10? Or is the whole thing set up to only do one pass, and once a chunk is initially generated, if nothing was put in a certain spot, no structure will ever be put in that spot?

A while back, I had a server hosted from my laptop. I port-forwarded and everything worked perfectly. Recently, I did a system restore to get rid of all of my unneeded things, and decided to try and get the server running again. I checked out my laptop's new ip address through the command prompt (in Windows 8.1), and adjusted as needed in my router's settings. Yet, even after making all the necessary changes, the Open Port Checker Tool at canyouseeme.org is showing that nothing is coming through port 25565. I've looked everywhere I can think of, and have been unable to come up with a solution. I included an image to show what all is going on here (the setup of the windows is simply to display all relevant information at once).

A lot of people aren't as into Dubstep anymore, but that's what came to me at the time. But I also do really like Melodic Dubstep and Dnb (most of what I make is sort of experimental DnB, and everything I make has an overlying melodic touch to it from my years of taking band and being around instrumental music). Part of what keeps my love for a lot of the EDM family is the science/math and technical things, and that's where my drop comes from. I actually had more automation of specific aspects of my basses than actual synths themselves. I really like analyzing sounds to try and hear what's going on in them (another reason why I chose Dubstep this time. I'm a huge fan of Feed Me, and his approach to sounds, notably his basses, is very unique, and I just love it).
I just don't want to catch myself turning to the current trend of Trap. Not my favorite genre, and a lot of it feels too similar. I love the sub behind it, and respect those who produce it, because it's not easy, but the same drops, and a terribly predictable kick rhythm of something along the lines of "1 - - 4 (1)+ - - -." But that's a topic for another day.
