Soooo any chance this new update might also include compatibility with 1.9? Because I'm dying to use it, but nobody on my server wants to backdate to 1.8 just to use it :-/
Some friends and I have decided we want to have our own private Minecraft server. Our server will be small at first, while I and a few friends get things set up and find a few nice mods and plugins to use, but eventually we want to have a population of 50 or so people on our server, with perhaps 15-20 of them online at a time max. So, we need a hosting plan that lets us have 5-10 slots at first, but can easily be upgraded later.
We won't be using very many mods; WorldGuard and Railcraft will probably be the biggest two, with a handful of other mods to add content (MrCrayFish's furniture mod in particular). A hosting company that makes adding these things easy would be a plus.
Most of our players will probably be in Denver, CO so a server close to there would be ideal. If we can use you for TeamSpeak hosting too, that'd be a plus! Some basic web hosting for a forum and a few tutorials would be a plus too, although I'll have my own web hosting at some point in the near future so we wouldn't need it for long.
Hey there, looking for a new server to play around on. My specialty is creating minecart railways to connect distant destinations.

Why do you want to join? [/b]Single-player gets boring after a while.
Do you like vanilla?[/b] I like all flavors
Want to form or join a town?[/b] I'd rather connect the towns together with my railway creations, but I'd likely base it out of a central station in a central town, so I guess I'd probably have to join that town.

Rules read?: Yep, and I'll abide by them.
I play singleplayer a LOT, and used to have a server shared among a few college buddies, but that server is now offline and I'm tired of playing by myself Not big on PvP myself but I'll plan accordingly. Also never been on an amplified server (or even offline amplified map) so this will be a bit of a challenge for me. Just the way I like >-D
Also, my big thing is long-distance minecart railroads and train stations. Once I have the resources you'll soon be able to (safely) travel to faraway lands >-D
I always think it's kind of funny how people will chime in to say they love the game, and somebody else will point out that they started playing after X time, and that automatically means they're wrong. Like, thanks for telling me that this game I love isn't actually as great as I think it is!
(For what it's worth, I started playing Minecraft last summer on the Xbox, then purchased the PC version a few months later, and I think it's one of the greatest games I've ever played. I find myself compelled to play it nearly every day, though school and work sometimes get in the way of that. Good thing winter break just started!)
I'm in the process of designing/building a minecart railroad system, with an automatic minecart dispenser/retrieval system at the stations, multiple destinations (the railroad is laid out in a single train line with multiple stations along that line) with the ability to skip over certain stations, passing sidings and automatic traffic control, as well as a few other bells and whistles. It's still a work in progress (I have the stations themselves designed and built, just gotta work on the sidings and traffic control in between them) but when I'm done I'll post a thread on the matter.
I'm very, very obsessed with cleanliness and making sure the redstone is entirely "behind-the-scenes"...I take a great deal of pride in the fact that each individual platform in my stations (stations can handle 2-4 platforms, could do more if I wanted but the stations get huge when I do) has exactly one exposed piece of redstone, and even that's behind a block from the track and you'd have to go looking to find it.
As cool as some of the inventions are on this board that are just for show, I'm personally a fan of the "practical" inventions; the ones that are tailored to fit a specific need and have practical applications in multiplayer servers. So I'm liking some of the things I've seen in this thread!
As someone who's been developing train stations and railroad systems pretty much since I started playing Minecraft (on Xbox...lol) I find this video very fascinating, there's a few things in here I didn't know about (like dispensers placing minecarts on tracks, or that selection panel you showed) that will change (or make redundant) a lot of the designs I've been working on.
One thing I've been obsessed with over everything else is making sure all of the redstone stuff is hidden from view and behind the scenes; my train stations are usually large, wide-open buildings with all the redstone in one or several seperate, organized basement levels. So it'll be fun to take a few ideas from this and make it fit in with my aesthetics.
It'd be pretty sweet if it was in Denver. Central location, gorgeous surroundings, big following (most people I mention it to have at least heard of it or know someone who plays it, lots of people play themselves), and all the local beer you can possibly handle. Of course, as a CO native, I may be a bit biased
Creative in Survival Mode. I love building gigantic buildings and cool stuff, but it's soooo much more rewarding to do so knowing that you had to hunt down all of the resources yourself while fighting off mobs and such.
