I have de-white listed anyone who hasn't logged in for the last 2 weeks since I feel you do not want to be a part of the server. If you were accepted previously and wish to be white listed again you can PM me.

Here is a screenshot of the amount of lava pockets in the 1.5 pre release nether. All it takes is to fly around in creative until the chunks fail to load.

I got this screenshot a few days ago using an xray mod (World generated in 13w07a)

Judging by the actual sound, silverfish.

Going by which annoys me more in general though... easily bats. They show up everywhere and... just.. *squeak squeak squeak*. They annoyed me to the point of rage quitting multiple times (Especially in CTM maps, the squeaking you hear in those is just unbearable), until I found a way to prevent the bat noises from being played.

He forgot one rule, if you hear lava, press shift, and continue mining.

And don't stage your death next time.

That is exactly what happened to me multiple times, I was just showing how easy it is to die from it. If I don't want to stage it, what am I supposed to do? Record anytime I'm digging a 1 wide tunnel in the nether? There isn't much I could do to increase the chances of death in that situation.

As for pressing shift when you hear lava, that will only decrease your chances of survival in this specific situation. Lava will be flowing towards you almost as fast as water, the last thing you want is to be going slower.

    Try standing farther back.

That could help with my situation but I usually stay close to the end of the tunnel I'm digging, it's just habit.

In the first place, for these lava blocks to really be a problem, you have to violate several common sense rules in minecraft: never dig straight down, never dig straight up, always have a block on your hot bar. With a little practice, it's fairly trivial to "plug up" a lava flow in the Nether with a block. And if you're mining in the Nether (as opposed to constructing a tunnel), there isn't much excuse for breaking blocks directly above your head.

Not really. I've been killed like this several times while digging a 1 wide tunnel so I can travel from point A to point B, and even more times from digging out areas for building projects.

This video shows just how easy it is to get killed while mining a simple 1 wide tunnel, even if you are following all of your "rules".

posted a message on Is it just me, or all the Youtubers getting terrible recently?
It seems that you watch the big LP'ers that have an attitude that children find amusing. I myself used to watch a few of those but quickly realized that they are not for me, they just seem too fake. If you watch any Lets Plays from anyone on the Mindcrack server (Everyone on the server has at least 10,000 subscribers) you will see that those guys really enjoy the game and know what they are doing. They don't cater to the "typical 12 year old" that people like PewdiePie, Yogscast, and others do.

So no, all of the youtubers are not becoming bad. You're just out growing them and/or not watching the right people.

posted a message on What is it about medieval-based builds?
For one, castles are awesome. Wouldn't you want to live in one, even if it's only in a video game?

And as others have said, the block selection really does fit medieval themed builds.

I don't see it as an unfair thing. The Nether is like the next step of advancement in your minecraft world. By the time you go there you should easily have already got an enchanting table setup. Thus armor with fire or protection enchantments isn't an unreasonable requirement for safely reducing the perils of lava in the nether. Then once you find a fortress and get netherwart, potions come into play and make it even easier.

Yes you can have good armour and fire resistance potions, but if you're digging in the ceiling of the nether you shouldn't have to worry about lava. It just doesn't seem right to me. I would be completely fine with it if lava didn't flow extremely fast now, since you would at least have time to react to it before you're swimming in lava.

I have also noticed (maybe only because of the flow change) that there are a fair amount of one block lava sources spawning randomly in netherrack. This makes tunneling and mining in the nether much more dangerous. I personally like the idea even though I have died numerous times already because of it.

I believe the lava embedded in nether rack is very unfair combined with the flow speed of lava. It reminds me of something Vechs said once: "Don't kill the player". You have no chance of knowing whether or not there is lava behind the block you're going to break, and if there is, it comes at you like a train. It has killed me many times when I was just trying to dig a tunnel or build, and could easily destroy things if it is in the wrong place.
