If the temperatures aren't the problem, it might be time for a new video card. Make sure it is connected properly and all that stuff, if that doesn't fix it I suggest upgrading.
Well, this my old computer that I gave to my younger brother when I upgraded and I'm trying to help him out. Overheating hasn't been an issue before, I actually used to run Minecraft on an older FX 5600 and never had these kind of issues. Battlefield 2 works fine, Starcraft 2 runs well as you can expect but they never give sign of overheating, it could be just that Minecraft is much more stressful on a system.
Anyway, I appreciate the help, just cleaned the case out to be sure and I'll try and run it some more, see if the issue crops up again and maybe do a complete reinstall of the drivers.
Does it happen after playing for a while? If it does, it's probably a heat problem. You should open the case and clean out any dust that is sitting inside, and make sure the fans are spinning when you turn on the computer.
It can happen anywhere from 5 minutes into the game to much later, I've used computer cleaner fairly recently and took out a bunch of dust if you think that might be the issue I can always try it. again and maybe put a house fan on it but I've played on this computer for some time and never had overheating problems with it.
I'm thinking maybe of rolling back a few drivers and trying that out first, what do you think?
I'll download Core Temp on this computer, run it for a bit and see how the temps are.
Hey guys, I've been having some trouble with weird graphical issues with Minecraft for quite some time, tried updating drviers, uninstalling Minecraft nothing has worked thus far and I need some help!
This happens with or without a texture pack enabled and I've tried making sure my video card wasn't dead or anything, plays other games perfectly fine. This glitch seems to come up at random times too, with it comes a lot of FPS lag which can make playing difficult.
My system is a Pentium 4 3.0 ghz
2 GB DDR2 RAM
ATI Radeon HD 2400 PRO
Windows XP Service Pack 3
I read the FAQ as well but couldn't find anything that looked similar to the problem I'm having and I haven't been able to pin down what causes it.
Uh. When you block with the swords you take reduced damage, there is no fancy blocking animation so it appears to do nothing but I've tested this with a friend and saw the difference it made.
