    It's not the best, but hopefully it'll do temporarily, since someone else was awesome enough to post a temporary fix for the health bar and whatnot. Sphax gave me permission to post this.

    It's not really a pearl, but it should do as a placeholder until Sphax finishes the real textures. :smile.gif:

    Just make sure it's named items.png (It probably got renamed by ImageShack) and put it in your texture pack's gui folder.

    EDIT: It's for the 128x pack.

    I think I remember reading that there's still (supposed to be) passive spawns, but they aren't as common as before. But you'll notice in the pre-release that there seem to be a lot more animals at a time spawning. Like, larger groups or whatever. So I think the objective is to acquire meat and other goods, but not to kill haphazardly if it's the area in which you live, because animals won't respawn immediately. So in that sense, animals are a bit more valuable, but not really at risk of being eliminated completely.

    Pretty sure the guy that said to wait for 1.9 was referring to the fact that actual animal breeding will not be included until 1.9. So no, animals don't breed now. But their spawning has definitely changed, and they're not supposed to despawn now once you leave an area, allowing you to actually keep animals, but not breed them.

    While I think randomly generated maze-like dungeons would be cool, I think an abandoned mine should feel more like a mine, and not a maze. So I'm definitely with you on that. It just doesn't feel like a mine, to me, the way it generates now.

    This is not at all the final version of 1.8 and not at all the final version of the adventure update. The adventure update is made up in 2 parts. 1. 1.8 which adds all the stuff and some bug fixes from 1.7.3 The other part is 1.9 which is bug fixes from 1.8 and additionally other stuff, which is missing but promised to be released in 1.8
    This includes Stronghold bosses, NPC's, a use for "EnderPearls" and additionally the fixed farming. So don't ***** out that there is no legit way of getting it, when 1.8 isn't even officially released. Now excuse me, I'm going to hunt endermens. Their week point is their freezing when looking at them, it makes them vulnerable.

    I just wondered if this was their temporary solution or a permanent one, that's all. If this is something that will be added in the official release, then awesome. But given how long cocoa beans and apples have remained chest items only, I'm worried seeds will end up exactly the same way.

    This is the sort of thing I'm talking about. You should be able to get seeds from them without it being exploitable like gravel (such as placing/destroying the block repeatedly until it drops seeds.)

    In Xie's farming mod, you can break pumpkins and melons with a hoe to get the seeds instead of the fruit. I think that's a pretty fair solution, too.

    I did not, however, realize that one melon seed would grow endless melons from the one source. That's news to me.

    I think that is actually pretty nice. If melons were everywhere, it would be no challenge to get them.
    And that's something Mojang want to add to Minecraft. Challenge.

    I guess I just find it a little.. "immersion breaking" when you can't just find plants and seeds in nature to start up your farm. I can respect melons being rare, but if you find a pumpkin in the wild, you should be able to get seeds from it. Finding seeds only in chests feels like a bit of a cop-out.

    If this is the case, I must say I'm pretty disappointed. The things I've been looking forward to most in Minecraft's future are better farming, and animal husbandry. If seeds don't occur naturally in the world, same as apples and cocoa beans, it takes away from the survival aspect significantly, at least for avid farmers like myself.

    I really hope this is just a temporary solution, and we'll be able to acquire seeds through more natural means. Of course, I'd love to be able to obtain apples and cocoa more naturally, too.

    C'mon, where my farmers at?!

    Wow, guys, chill. XD Sphax has already done MOST of 1.8 well before the leak, so I'm sure when he has some time, he'll texture everything he's missed. :smile.gif: Be patient! Sphax is good to us! XD

    Ugh, are they only going to be in chests, like cocoa beans? That's going to be thoroughly disappointing, if that's the case. =/ I would like to farm without searching the countryside for dungeons.
